His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2157: Chapter 625: Settling Accounts After Returning to the City (One Year Later, Part 2)

”My children with Qin Mu don’t need another woman to take care of them!”

Unexpectedly, Qin Mu suddenly became assertive, yet her eyes were heavy with emotion.

”Mingzhu might have spoken harshly, they might not get married for now, but you should still come back to see them, if not for anything else, then for Chengcheng and Huanhuan!”

Fortunately, Helian Hao was more composed, speaking without exaggeration, but to Qin Mu, it only confirmed that Mu Yichen was going to marry another woman, and her two children would soon have a stepmother.

Even though they haven’t even married yet, her son was already being mistreated like this. And since then, Qin Mu had no mood for work until she finished for the day. When she returned to the apartment at night, she couldn’t eat well or sleep, becoming more and more afraid as she thought about it. What if the woman Mu Yichen was going to marry was outwardly gentle but inwardly malicious? What would happen to Chengcheng and Huanhuan in the future?

Thinking about the bruise on Chengcheng’s arm, it really looked like someone had twisted it hard. Unable to bear the worry and anguish in her heart late at night, she reached for her phone and opened the app.

——

On Friday morning, at the Mu Family residence in Rongcheng.

Feng Fanghua stood at the door with Chengcheng, trying to persuade him before sending him to school: ”Today, you mustn’t skip class, understood? The teacher was so worried when she couldn’t find you yesterday, alright?”

”Then just have Grandpa Li wait for me at the school gate, and I won’t be able to run away!”

Little Chengcheng, mischievous like the devil he was, bowed his head with a ”it’s not like I did it on purpose” look, speaking casually but still making people worry about him.

”Little devil, I heard you went to your aunt’s bookstore yesterday? What did you do there, tell Grandma, okay?”

”I just wanted Aunt to take me to find Mom!”

With his backpack slung over his shoulders, Chengcheng had an ”it’s fine if you know” look, while putting on a super pitiful face.

It happened that Mu Yichen came out from inside and heard him saying he wanted to find his mom, which made his expression turn cold.

”Dad!”

Seeing him walk over, Chengcheng immediately lowered his eyes, reluctantly calling him.

”Hmm! What’s the point of missing her? Does she miss you?”

Mu Yichen coldly threw out the words.

”Of course she misses me too; you just won’t let us see her, that’s all. Dad, you’re so mean! Sis said you fought with Mom before, but you still let Mom see her and even took her to Paris. Why not this time? It’s been a year, and we haven’t seen Mom at all. Dad, you’re really bad!”

Chengcheng was pretending at first, but as he continued, his eyes genuinely welled up with tears.

Mu Yichen felt as if someone had stabbed him in the heart, and for a while, he frowned, unable to speak.

Feng Fanghua stood by, unable to suppress her heartache. After Chengcheng got into the car, she asked her son: ”Maybe you should let her come back to see Chengcheng? My precious grandson has lost so much weight over the year; it seems he really misses his mom.”

”What’s there to see?”

Mu Yichen replied indifferently, opening the car door to personally take Chengcheng to school.

On the way, neither father nor son spoke to each other. Mu Yichen watched the stubborn little boy through the rearview mirror, and as they approached the school, he asked in a deep voice: ”What exactly did you do at Qin Mingzhu’s place yesterday?”

”I just miss Mom; Aunt looks like Mom, but can’t I go to her place for some comfort?”

Chengcheng hugged his elbows again, acting very proud, yet not daring to be too disrespectful to his father.

After hearing this, Mu Yichen didn’t say anything more. When they arrived at the school, Chengcheng got out of the car before he could say anything: ”I’m leaving!”

Mu Yichen watched the stubborn figure with a backpack walking into the school, suddenly feeling exhausted, his dark eyes filled with weariness, and soon he turned the car around and left.

Nowadays, Qiao Yi left the company, Zhao Huai took over, Xi Meng returned, and the office building was peaceful, but Mu Yichen’s face rarely showed a smile.

Zhao Huai stayed in his office for more than an hour, chatting about work and having tea afterward. Feeling puzzled, he helped pour tea for Mu Yichen and couldn’t hold back any longer, asking: ”You and Qin Mu, are you really divorced?”

”What do you think?”

Mu Yichen sensed he had been holding it in for a while, but with nothing much to do, he wanted to keep Zhao Huai guessing.

”Bro! I can’t imagine you’d actually get divorced, but some media even pulled out photos of you two at the civil affairs bureau, so tell me, what should I think?”

Zhao Huai was speechless.

”Look at me now, ignored by everyone; do I look like someone with a marriage and family?”
