His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2169: Chapter 629: One Year Later (6): What a Coincidence

Qin Mu almost lost her balance and nearly fell. Fortunately, there was a door frame behind her. She lightly leaned on it, looking at him with clear, transparent eyes.

”Why is Mr. Mu here?”

She asked casually, as if merely greeting an old acquaintance.

Mu Yichen didn’t speak, he just stared straight into her eyes.

Qin Mu felt as if a sandstorm had clouded her vision, blocking her from seeing the mistakes outside. Yet, she couldn’t understand how his gaze penetrated her eyes so quickly, reaching deep inside her, leaving her no time to even cry out in pain.

Qin Mu gazed at him in confusion, but as he turned to leave, she suddenly lowered her eyes, looking at the cigarette held between her fingers.

Was it because of this?

Even though he never would have imagined she smoked, it shouldn’t have made him that angry, right?

After all, he now had someone new; how was it fair that she couldn’t have a small habit or two?

With time passing so long, without such minor vices...

Qin Mu leaned against the door, watching his back, and took another deep drag.

Her mind cleared a bit, but the headache grew even more intense.

By the time she returned, Mu Yichen was gone. She heard that Miss Chen couldn’t handle her drinks and had one too many, so Mr. Mu thoughtfully sent her home.

Her heart seemed to have long since grown numb. Listening to such words, she asked herself if she felt sad. In truth, she didn’t!

Everything was over between them. She had long thought about his future over a year ago, so it was as if she had already vaccinated herself against it.

However, when leaving the hotel, Qin Mu and Qin Mingzhu encountered Gongzhi Ping’an in the parking lot. In the passenger seat of Gongzhi Ping’an’s car, a drunken woman had just gotten in. Gongzhi Ping’an closed the passenger door and turned to see the sisters, surprised.

”When did you come back?”

Gongzhi Ping’an walked over to greet her, noticing how she had lost a lot of weight, and couldn’t help but show pity in his gaze.

”Today! What a coincidence!”

Qin Mu wanted to greet him properly but didn’t know what to say, instinctively glancing into his car. It was blurry, but it seemed to be Lun Yun whom she had recently met.

”It is a coincidence, but An Zi is quite a regular here!”

Qin Mingzhu softly reminded Qin Mu.

Gongzhi Ping’an chuckled lightly, ”Mingzhu knows me well.”

”Of course!”

Qin Mingzhu raised her eyebrows and then looked at Qin Mu, ”Let’s go! I have to feed my little son when we get back.”

Qin Mu rolled her eyes at her helplessly, then turned to Gongzhi Ping’an, ”Goodbye!”

”Hmm!”

Gongzhi Ping’an stepped aside to watch her go.

So many things he wanted to say to her, but in the end, none of them came out.

Years ago, she had already rejected him. Now, how could she look at him any differently, especially since...

He turned to look at the woman in his car, letting out a self-mocking laugh.

Just as Qin Mu and Qin Mingzhu reached their car, before they could get in, another car drove up beside them.

A middle-aged man in a black suit stepped out, ”Madam, Miss Qin, Mr. Mu said you drank, let me take you home.”

It turned out to be a hotel staff member.

Qin Mu and Qin Mingzhu exchanged glances, with Qin Mingzhu blinking, her expression puzzled as if she couldn’t understand what her brother-in-law was up to.

In the end, the sisters got into the car and were taken back to the Qin Family.

The driver called Mu Yichen after taking them home. Mu Yichen answered his phone at home.

The family was all asleep, except for him, who couldn’t fall asleep at all.

After a year of not seeing her, she had surprisingly picked up the bad habit of smoking.

Already it’s not a good thing to accept drinks from others at social events readily, but now she even had another bad habit.

Mu Yichen’s brows knitted into a frown, but his eyebrows were tightly drawn together.

In the glass reflection was a very stern man, tall and handsome, yet unapproachable.

The year they married, he was only twenty-seven, and she was just twenty-two.

But last year, he didn’t even know how she spent Christmas. They had gotten together on Christmas, they were supposed to always be together.

He also didn’t know how she spent the New Year. No matter who asked, she simply said she was with friends, doing well, no need to worry, offering no further description.

She posted nothing on social media, not on WeChat, not on Weibo, not even on Facebook.

She focused on her work as if she was a person without any feelings or desires.

Yet, tonight, she actually smoked, and smoked so addictively.
