His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2166: Chapter 628: One Year Later (5) The Truth

Qin Mu nodded at the staff at the entrance, and after they left, she stood at the doorway unsure if she should go in.

He brought a beauty tonight, this party...

Forget it! Let’s see what this Chen Xiaoyi, whom he’s praised so much, is like.

Qin Mu still pushed open the door and smiled: ”I’m not late, am I?”

She deliberately pretended not to see Mu Yichen and Chen Xiaoyi who had just sat down, and only smiled at her other dear friends.

The lighting inside was a bit glaring, and she couldn’t see clearly all at once, so she could only distinguish vaguely through her blurred vision.

”Xi Meng, this morning at your workplace, we didn’t get a proper chance to say hello.”

Qin Mu smiled and lightly hugged Xi Meng.

”It’s so good to see you again!”

When they let go, Xi Meng held her hand and softly said to her.

”Mm!”

Qin Mu replied, then seeing An Nan looking at her with a sympathetic gaze, she didn’t know what to say, so she also gave her a hug.

Xiaomei sat beside Zhao Huai, not standing up, just looking at Qin Mu hugging others with a pitiful expression, as if she were an abandoned child.

Qin Mu walked up to her: ”What’s wrong? I gave you a whole year’s leave, and you’re still feeling sad?”

Qin Mu asked her softly, but her eyes looked at her with deep concern.

Xiaomei sniffled: ”I’m happy, actually. I’d love more leave; why would I be sad?”

Qin Mu then laughed, lightly resting her hand on Xiaomei’s shoulder: ”We haven’t seen each other for over a year, didn’t you miss me? Don’t you want to give me a hug?”

Only then did Xiaomei look at her slightly, but that glance was enough for her tears to flow down instantly.

”Why have you lost so much weight?”

Xiaomei asked tearfully as she stood up, holding Qin Mu tightly.

”I was shooting a commercial recently, and the advertisers asked me to lose down to forty kilos, preferably become skin and bones, but I disappointed them, couldn’t reach that point after all.”

Qin Mu laughed and explained as she let go of Xiaomei, unable to stop herself from glancing around at the good friends she’d made over five years in Rongcheng. She always thought she didn’t have many friends, but looking back, she realized she still had quite a few people around her.

”Xiaomu, you’re a big name now, wouldn’t you give Brother Yuan a hug too?”

Jiang Zhiyuan came back from the restroom, saw Qin Mu hugging everyone, and after watching for a while, suddenly walked behind her and hooked his arm around her shoulder in a playful manner.

Qin Mu turned around and gave him a big hug: ”What’s so hard about that, Brother Yuan!”

Jiang Zhiyuan...

Jiang Zhiyuan suddenly didn’t know where to put his hands, instinctively glanced at Mu Yichen, and his whole demeanor changed, wondering why that guy was glaring at him with a face like murder?

After letting him go, Qin Mu asked: ”Have you been treating An Nan well? I’m your matchmaker, remember! If you’ve not been good to her, I’ll have to seek justice for her.”

”An Nan is my goddess, how could I mistreat her?”

Jiang Zhiyuan immediately walked over to An Nan.

”Him? Same as always, only manages to upset me, but I’ve gotten used to it!”

An Nan shook her head helplessly and said to her, hearing Jiang Zhiyuan’s words.

”It’s good to be consistent, people being too changeable can be quite disheartening.”

Qin Mu said softly.

Qiao Yi, Zhao Huai, and Jing Feng sat properly there watching them chat, occasionally stealing glances at Mu Yichen, who sat quietly inside not saying a word, looking sullen the whole time.

”Hello Miss Qin! I’m Chen Xiaoyi, a friend of Mr. Mu’s, and a fan of yours too!”

Chen Xiaoyi said, deliberately showing off a bracelet she was wearing on her fair wrist, which Qin Mu had endorsed.

Qin Mu glanced at it, then smiled and said softly: ”Hello!”

The rivals met and clearly eyed each other, everyone held their breath as they couldn’t help but glance over them, standing across the table from each other. The atmosphere might have been friendly, but everyone could sense that between them, swords were already drawn.

Seeing that Qin Mu hadn’t turned hostile, Chen Xiaoyi nodded and sat back beside Mu Yichen.

”The queen is seated, so you discarded concubine should take a seat too, don’t just stand there!”

Qin Mingzhu finally couldn’t hold back anymore. Although Helian Hao had instructed her to give Qin Mu face and speak less subtly when they first arrived, she simply couldn’t stand it, and she didn’t think it’d be Qin Mu who’d lose face. Instead, it should be the man opposite her who should understand who’s really losing face.
