Beneath the Red Dragon

”Although we don’t have much strength, we know who has given us a better life,” a short farmer laughed and said, ”They are all trustworthy forces within the Imperial, and also shields and swords given to us by the Emperor, the tolerant Dragon Lords of the Imperial.”

”Yes, thank those wise Dragons, thank the virtuous Emperor!”

People around clapped their hands together, loudly praising.

The Ancestral Red Dragon, not relying on its direct strength to gain the faith of the people and its Beloved, has won the admiration of the majority through its actions and deeds!

Gabriel, the Commander of the Imperial Guard returning from the high tower, suddenly smiled slightly, but then slightly furrowed his beautiful brows.

Gabriel, the Punishment Angel who makes faith his source of power, constructs with Heart Energy, and takes Spiritual Power as his foundation of existence, was born of this and influenced by this.

The more Power of Faith that is born, the more Gabriel is delighted, but the more complex and burdensome the things he bears on behalf of the Ancestral Red Dragon become.

”It’s a pity, if you hadn’t chopped off the head of that One-eyed Giant and just killed him directly, there would have been much research value. Even a dead Giant can be used to create a Flesh Golem, and the scholars from the research department have always wanted to craft a Golem as powerful as an Ancient Titan. This would have been a great experiment subject!”

”What a pity that you decapitated his head, making the follow-up troublesome, losing at least a small portion of power.”

A blond middle-aged Mage walked over, standing shoulder to shoulder with Gabriel, watching the receding figure of the distant Eternal Punishment Dragon just below the sky.

The heavily wounded adult Multi-headed Giant Dragon had become another trophy of the Golden Empire, securely locked by Warriors driven by several young Dragon Lords.

”The peace of the Imperial only exists under the edge of our swords,”

Seeing the arrival of the blond Mage, Gabriel’s usually gentle expression hardened, and he said coldly, ”Only by placing swords at the doorstep of those heretics can true peace come to the Imperial, so you need not worry about lacking future experimental subjects. I will bring you more heretics.”

”And this,” Gabriel raised the heavy head of the One-eyed Giant in his hand, ”is the trophy of my first battle, the first time in one’s life must have some commemorative significance.”

The blond Mage had high cheekbones but wasn’t stiff in demeanor, wearing a plain Magic Robe simply pinned with an emblem made of a red Gemstone in the shape of a Dragon’s eye, symbolizing his identity.

”Proposing to the Emperor about setting a Soul Steel Seal for you is just our standard process and precaution, not deliberately targeting you. You don’t always need to act this way!”

The blond Mage sighed.

Mo Fanleid, the Holy Sanctuary Grandmaster. Once the vice president of the Royal Magic Association in the Falis Kingdom within the Central Continent of Aikania, adept at various types of Magic, particularly Alchemy and Curse Magic, with many outstanding achievements.

Yet just due to some ridiculous power struggles, this powerful Mage, Mo Fanleid, was exiled from the Falis Kingdom.

The planning department of the Golden Empire once wanted to recruit this outstanding Great Mage by offering the fruit of the Tree of Life and a wealth of knowledge, but he refused.

Finally, under a letter from Bill, the deputy of the planning department and former Holy Sanctuary Assassin, this Holy Sanctuary Great Mage was recruited.

The letter contained only a brief sentence, with the general idea that the Imperial promised never to let political power struggles affect research plans and related results, nor the Mage himself, which moved this outstanding Great Mage.

And this Great Mage, within the Imperial, was also the person in charge of executing the ’Punishment Angel’ plan, the head of the Magic Research Department, and ranked third among the Wise Kings, holding an esteemed status within the Imperial.

However, Gabriel, as the leader of the Imperial Guard, was unable to maintain his stance towards this esteemed Great Mage, showing undisguised aversion and estrangement on his face.

”Of course I know, but the aversion to you is something self-generated from within me, and I cannot, nor want to, suppress this feeling,”

Gabriel said indifferently, ”Just as I revere my father so deeply, the more I appreciate his actions, the more I abhor you,”

”Even now, I still can’t understand why my father gave me freedom, instead of completely controlling my mind and thoughts, but I can’t develop even a bit of agreement with you.”

Mo Fanleid finally smiled. This Mage, who had lived for over a hundred years and accumulated a rich life experience, not only possessed the wisdom honed by age but also exuded the vitality and vigor of youth after regaining youth.

He chuckled lightly and said, ”In the Emperor’s eyes, there are many things in the world even he cannot comprehend, yet he never thinks that anything does not align with his views is wrong,”

”That’s also a point I admire about him, because the truth that Mages explore is based on objectivity, which, to be honest, is very difficult even for me to achieve.”

”The more genuine and objective, the deeper and thus stronger,” Mo Fanleid said, ”So when he proceeds with his own ideas, he doesn’t reject those with various intentions, as long as their ultimate goals align with his direction,”

”He’d rather have people around him who spontaneously agree with him, rather than forcibly altering others’ views, even though he indeed has that capability.”
