Beneath the Red Dragon

”But if Your Majesty Kreska is merely here to enjoy a performance, I invite you to move into my empire, to the royal city. Although my territory is still simple now, the gladiatorial arena within it will surely present many splendid shows for you.”

Magic Dragon God Kreska shook her head, pacing around the enormous body of the Ancestral Red Dragon, as if observing closely. Her puzzled voice came from behind the Red Dragon.

”Tsk tsk, if I hadn’t seen your body and talked to you face to face, I would have thought I was dealing with a cunning person, not a straightforward dragon,”

”Relax a bit, young dragon, there’s no need to keep your scales so tense, I harbor no ill will towards you,”

Magic Dragon God Kreska halted beside the Ancestral Red Dragon, extended her slender, white right hand, and called softly, ”Lower your head, you cunning dragon cub, inviting me to your territory, did you think I wouldn’t know,”

”Your territory is your realm, even a true legend entering your empire might suffer greatly if they dared oppose you. I am descending from an infinite distance, without the power to resist your empire,”

Karon perceived that the Magic Dragon God before him indeed had no hostility. Although puzzled by the dragon god’s attitude shift, the doubts vanished quickly upon remembering that the other party was not just a dragon, but a female dragon.

He slightly lowered his head, moving closer to Kreska’s palm. Though corporeal, the dragon god’s presence in the material world was as real as it seemed, even the faint, strange fragrance from her reached the Ancestral Red Dragon’s nostrils.

Once this fragrance was detected by the Ancestral Red Dragon, it immediately felt its body’s recovering magic power flowing more swiftly at that moment.

It was like some magical spice with wondrous effects, accelerating the Ancestral Red Dragon’s own magic recovery nearly twofold.

But before Karon could fully experience the effects of the fragrance, he noticed that his dragon horn was clasped in the hand of Magic Dragon God Kreska, prompting a slight startle. He was about to shake his head to free it from her grasp.

Then a cold shout came, ”Don’t move, little dragon cub, I’m giving you a boon, this is my sincerity, I think you’ll like it,”

Karon ceased his movements, immediately sensing that the dragon horn carried many complex inscriptions from the power drawn by the other party, akin to the weighty knowledge within the Dragon Inheritance, awaiting Karon to unfold and digest in the future.

But at this moment, Karon sensed the greed in the heart of this Magic Dragon God beginning to form.

As a controller of spiritual authority, the Ancestral Red Dragon, even a divine spirit, with no concealment before him, could glimpse a bit of the other’s thoughts.

As a magical creature, the dragon’s scales and horns were excellent magical material carriers, capable of inscribing magic and knowledge. Some spell-devouring dragons loved to inscribe numerous spells on their own scales.

There are also some powerful, malevolent casters who particularly delight in slaying dragons to harvest the most precious scales from a dragon’s body, like the scales beneath the jaw and chest, and the heart skin, to craft casting equipment. Typically, a dragon skin book, opening a page unleashes a torrent of spells.

As for Karon, this unparalleled Ancestral Red Dragon, not only did his scales have higher carrying capacity, but even his horns were rare treasures that, once in the hands of the simplest warrior, could be crafted into the most wasteful of divine weapons.

The natural magical patterns on Karon’s horns contained the Ancestral Red Dragon’s innate power traits, allowing any mage wielding the Red Dragon’s horn to manipulate the earth and metal, flame, and magma effortlessly, enhancing spell power manifold.

Indeed, after Magic Dragon God Kreska sealed the knowledge on the six splendid dragon horns of the Ancestral Red Dragon, she did not retract her hand but instead praised, ”If your dragon horns were given to me to craft, I am sure I could create a powerful magical treasure,”

”Gogomola, as a return gift for my present to you, what say you remove your dragon horns and give them to me? The knowledge I am providing is more than enough to repay your dragon horns.”

Karon expelled two points of flame from his nostrils, resolutely extracting his dragon horns from the hands of the greedy Magic Dragon God, retreating two steps before settling back down.

”My dragon horns are the crown of the Emperor, the scepter of the Empire, invaluable,” Karon said, ”The knowledge you gift me must come with your own purpose. A dragon’s nature, even for a god, cannot be shed.”

Magic Dragon God Kreska wrinkled her nose, exclaiming, ”How annoying, stupid dragons are what I dislike most, but overly clever dragons I cannot favor either.”

At this moment, Kreska lightly waved her robe sleeves, and the magical radiance enshrouding her instantly transformed into a haloed dome, completely concealing their presence.

Their figures existed truly in the Icaria World, yet remained unseen and unheard by others. Their voices could spread normally, but could not be overheard by anyone.

This was the Magic Dragon God’s domain of silence, also one of Kreska’s ascension to divinity duties.

At this moment, the expression on Magic Dragon God Kreska’s face grew solemn, her beautiful yet dense eyebrows slightly furrowed as she whispered, ”Dragons perceive detours poorly, I can speak directly with you.”
