Beneath the Red Dragon

Every day, many youngsters drive their cattle and sheep here. In the evening, they let the livestock roam and graze for the last time of the day, while the youngsters play and frolic in the hills, enjoying their childhood.

Even though the traces of wild beasts have been increasing lately, the residents here are all well-versed in martial arts and regard these beasts as rare sources of meat for their families, competing to hunt them.

Even the youngsters do not fear ordinary beasts. They just remain more vigilant to prevent the cattle and sheep from being carried off by beasts, avoiding a scolding from their parents.

But today, it seems there have been some monumental changes. While the youngsters were playing by the stream, trees broke and birds took flight in the nearby forest.

Accompanied by the snapping sounds and slight tremors in the ground, wild boars emerged first, rushing out of the forest and charging directly towards the open ground.

These wild boars, equipped with long tusks and a massive build covered in thick mud armor, wouldn’t easily be provoked even by the most experienced hunters, let alone these youngsters.

Following the wild boars came herds of mountain deer and marsh cattle, rushing out from the forest as if some predator was driving them from behind.

Soon after, a few fierce tigers, giant apes, and demon pythons also dashed out of the forest in panic, knocking over many beasts blocking their path.

These forest predators, like ordinary beasts, were also running for their lives, driven away by an even more terrifying presence, fleeing their homes.

Seeing this spectacle, the youngsters on the shore quickly shouted to their companions in the water, and without even having time to dress, they ran towards the nearby Bay Stream City.

The guards of Bay Stream City, having already noticed this scene, rushed out of the city to assist the youngsters facing danger.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,

The guards drew their bows and arrows, shooting down the charging beasts, trying to disperse them and drive the stampede towards the mountains on either side.

The fastest-running youngsters were almost at the guards’ side, but at that moment, one youngster stopped, holding his wet hair and shouting loudly, ”Oh no, I forgot to bring my little brother back, he’s still sleeping on the rock by the shore!”

Everyone hurriedly looked towards the stream. A bewildered child, awakened by the sound of the stampede, was rubbing his eyes and groggily rising from the low, long strip of rock.

The stampede was already rushing across the stream, mindlessly fleeing like a rolling flood, indifferent to whether ahead lay an abyss or a defenseless child.

Seeing the young child about to be trampled by the stampede, everyone couldn’t help but cry out in alarm.

Only the young child, facing the tide of stampeding beasts, raised his arms and extended his small hand, shouting in a childish voice, ”I am the son of the Giant Dragon; I am not afraid of you!”

Rumble, in the next moment, the stampede surged forward, dust enveloping the child, prompting everyone to instinctively close their eyes.

But cries of surprise rose from behind. Some youngsters, unable to watch, kept their eyes open and saw the young boy now enveloped by a Giant Dragon’s wings.

Thick vines surged up from the ground, forming a solid barrier, safeguarding the child under the Dragon’s wings.

”Well done, little one,”

Green Dragon Ali lowered her head, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she smiled at the child under her wing, ”You are indeed a courageous child, though you seem a bit foolish in my eyes, but I like you!”
