Chapter 593: Chapter 249: The Impossible Task (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2

Because I also happen to be good at strength….

“By the way, does the opponent know water-based witchcraft?” asked Rein, on the verge of departure, suddenly thinking of a question, he turned back and asked again.

“This… no.”

“Of course, maybe it’s because we are too weak, they simply disdain to use it against us, Lord Reine you still need to be careful and cautious,” Knight Cornet said with a crestfallen expression.

He and his brother, one dead and one severely injured, have yet to ascertain the enemy’s combat power, which is indeed too embarrassing.

“Have a good rest, Knight Cornet.”

…..

After leaving the camp, Rein quickly arrived at the front line.

Looking out at the battlefield in front of him, he saw a multitude of fish people, lobster people, and various other exotic marine creatures, almost covering the beach densely.

Although there were many of them, their battle organization was far less efficient than the empire’s troops, so they couldn’t inflict heavy casualties on the empire’s army.

Although the empire’s forces were few, they were relatively elite.

Therefore, the overall battle situation was in a state of tense equilibrium.

From time to time, fierce battles broke out along the long defense line, lasted for a while, and then subsided again.

From a distance, Rein saw a Blood Curse Naga whose stature was clearly taller than the surrounding fish people; as soon as it appeared, the empire’s army immediately suffered heavy casualties.

At these times, a matching force had to step up to confront it; otherwise, it often required a large number of casualties before it was possible to repel them.

The captain of the shield crossbowmen at the first line of the battlefield was a seasoned knight.

He took a deep look at Rein, although he didn’t know what mission the young imperial baron had, which required him to go to the small island on the front.

But he thought about it and felt it was necessary to give a reminder.

“Baron Rein, you might not know this. While the fish people’s strength is average, look at their dense numbers,” the captain of the shield crossbowmen said, pointing to the front.

“When dozens, or even hundreds of these Nemofin fish people, Blackgill fish people, and Deep Sea Bluegill fish people surround you, even a Great Knight of humanity will have moments of exhaustion.”

“The island you want to reach requires breaking through their dense defense line.”

“And do you see? Behind the group of fish people, those huge creatures; those are male Blood Curse Nagas, along with their ferocious sea beasts under their command.”

“Just the sea beasts’ strength alone is no less than that of a Great Knight, as for the ancient species Blood Curse Naga, Baron Reine, you might not have fought them yet and don’t realize how formidable they are.”

Rein didn’t refute.

He was just listening quietly.

Because he knew that this shield crossbowmen captain, whom he was meeting for the first time, was absolutely right.

At least for an average Great Knight, the chance of breaking through the Sea Clan’s defense line, reaching the island, and entering the cave was virtually impossible.

Even with the support of the shield crossbowmen.

“Right now on the frontline, when we encounter a Blood Curse Naga, we’ll shoot a signal flare for the empire’s Great Knights and Wizards to deal with them,” he instructed.

“As for the concerted attacks by dense fish people or marine creatures, we mainly rely on the rear bronze cannons and special toxic gases provided by the Royal Alchemist Association targeting the Sea Clan.”

“But these means are generally only quite lethal to fish people and lobster people and the like.”

“When it comes to the Blood Curse Naga, their resistance to poison is very high, and it hardly affects them. And it’s even less likely for cannon fire to hit them directly.”

While listening to the explanation, Rein observed closely.

Although Rein was not afraid, knowing oneself and the enemy prevents defeat in a hundred battles.

Along the long coastline, every hundred meters or so, there was a male Blood Curse Naga in charge.

All these Blood Curse Nagas were male, each with at least one viciously transformed sea serpent, giant mutated hermit crab or large octopus, giving him the impression of a Beast Tamer.

Plus with their strong close-combat capabilities, the combination of beast and Naga was, overall, very difficult to deal with, troublesome indeed.

Then, from the sky came the shrill cry of a griffin.

A Griffin Knight clad in pale golden armor descended quickly from the sky, and he too saw Rein on the field.

After all, Rein’s strong unicorn black steed and equally fierce canine beast were quite conspicuous.

“Eh, we’ve met once before, you are… the newly appointed Sword Bearer Rein?” The person was none other than Viscount Philke of Mingster’s Griffin Squadron whom Rein had met once.

Rein didn’t expect to encounter him here.

“Good day, Lord Philk,” Rein greeted with a slight bow.

“Are you here on a special mission?”

“Yes, I am going over there,” Rein nodded and pointed to the southeast.

Viscount Philke’s handsome face changed slightly with surprise, “Hmm? You might not know, Baron Rein, but I just scouted from the sky.”

“That area is now the most heavily defended by the Sea Clan. There’s a huge cave on the nearby island that seems to have emerged out of nowhere, and it is strictly guarded by the Sea Clan.”

Rein nodded to show he was aware.

He had previously investigated from the air using ‘Beast Sight’ through the perspective of Blood Feather.

“Baron Rein, I know your strength is formidable.”

“But consider the dense numbers of the Sea Clan before us, and the Blood Curse Nagas mixed amongst them. Even I find those ancient creatures a headache to confront.”

“Even if you fortunately make it near the cave, how much strength will you have left to charge into the cave and conduct your investigation?”
