Chapter 562: Chapter 241: Special Approval (Two in One Mega Chapter)_3

“This must be Lord Rein? Indeed, a promising young man! I am Melanie Clinton, the Deputy Secretary of the Promotion Department, Lord Rein, greetings,” the young woman said with great courtesy.

“Greetings, Madam Melanie,” Rein stood up and said.

“Lord Rein, are you looking to withdraw the entire amount?”

“Yes.”

While they were speaking, Rein suddenly thought of something and immediately said, “Wait, I have another question. Madam Melanie, is this loan strictly for Merit Points, and does not include task evaluation medals?”

“Of course, task evaluation medals still need to be obtained by completing tasks,” Melanie nodded and confirmed.

This made Rein frown slightly, and his expression changed!

The loan was essentially meaningless to him then…

He had just visited the exchange hall, and whether it was for the Vaporization Reagent or witchcraft, the major or rather key part of the exchange relied on the gold medals.

The remaining potion exchanges, actually, the more than two thousand Merit Points he had on hand were sufficient for the short term.

And as he slowly completed tasks in the later stages, he believed that Merit Points would rapidly accumulate in his account.

Perhaps sensing Rein’s displeasure, Melanie tactfully asked, “Lord Rein, are you in a hurry to exchange for some items?”

Rein hesitated, then nodded slightly.

Seeing this, Melanie smiled and said, “Lord Rein, since you are already a Bronze Sword Bearer, the loan conditions are not quite the same as for a typical newcomer. If it’s convenient for you, could you come to my office to talk about it?”

Rein raised an eyebrow.

This…

Could there be some room for maneuvering here?

After thinking it over, Rein nodded and followed the lovely young woman Melanie out of the office.

The other newcomers watched Rein’s departing figure longingly, while a big question mark popped up in their minds.

Could a Bronze Sword Bearer now get a loan with task evaluation medals?

…

When Rein arrived at the adjacent office of the Deputy Secretary, Melanie began to explain:

“Lord Rein, as the captain of the Bronze Sword Bearer team, you can take a consumption loan, which is a different type of loan from the newcomer loan,” she said.

“Oh? Madam Melanie, please explain the rules of the consumption loan.”

“Yes, Lord Rein, with the consumption loan, you merely need to pay one third of the price of an item to use it in advance, and then pay it back within the set time,” she replied.

One third down payment?

It was somewhat reminiscent of a mortgage… Rein mused to himself.

But soon, another question occurred to him: “One third? I can understand one third of the Merit Points, but how do you calculate one third of a medal?”

“For instance, if you need three Silver Medals, you would have to pay one in advance.”

“But if an item only requires one or two Silver Medals, since the regulations do not allow for partial loans, you will still need to pay one Silver Medal and one third of the Merit Points,” she explained.

“In such cases, we generally recommend you bundle several items that you want to exchange together, such as waiting until you have three Silver Medals, and then packaging them for a loan.”

Rein nodded.

He understood, and this was truly not bad.

That meant he only needed to earn one Gold Medal to be able to take out the Vaporization Reagent and the first-level fire-related witchcraft for defense.

Wait.

He also really wanted the Metal Morphing Spell.

“Um… Madam Melanie, is one third the minimum required? Can’t it be one fourth?” Rein ventured to ask.

“One fourth is the privilege of the Silver rank, that’s….” Melanie showed a look of difficulty.

However, at once, she remembered the conspicuous red ‘Special’ in the overall evaluation she had just reviewed in the young man’s profile, and immediately amended her response: “Okay! Lord Rein, then you can pay one fourth!”

Rein’s face lit up with joy!

That meant he only needed to obtain one Gold Medal and one fourth of the Merit Points to take possession of the aforementioned three items in advance!

“By the way, Lord Rein, if you don’t mind me asking, what are you planning to exchange for….” It was at this moment that Melanie finally remembered she hadn’t yet asked Rein exactly what he intended to exchange.

“Vaporization Reagent, fire witchcraft ‘Resist Fire Ring,’ and Metal Morphing Spell,” Rein stated frankly.

“Ah? That’s….” Melanie’s eyes widened in shock as she looked at Rein.

Heavens!

Items worth four Gold Medals!

Lord Rein, even though you are rated Special in potential as a new Sword Bearer, this is quite extravagant!

Melanie’s inner voice was screaming!

“It seems that’s not possible?” Rein glanced at Melanie, who was still in shock, and couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

“That’s… Lord Rein, I…” Melanie stammered.

Just then, a middle-aged man dressed in an Army uniform, with a pair of golden branches and four crescent moons on his epaulette, walked in and smilingly said, “Melanie, process the relevant procedures for Lord Rein, just as he mentioned for those three items.”

“Ah, yes, sir!” Melanie immediately rose to do so.

“Lord Rein, this is Colonel Stanley, Admiral Edward’s secretary,” Melanie hurriedly introduced.

“Colonel Stanley, greetings,” Rein promptly stood up to greet him.

“Lord Rein, Admiral Edward has high hopes for you…” Stanley said, smiling and nodding.

After exchanging pleasantries, Stanley took some item and hurriedly left, appearing quite busy.

And Rein had signed the loan agreement.

That meant, as soon as he acquired one Gold Medal and one fourth of the Merit Points, he could advance the collection of the aforementioned three items.
