Chapter 572: Chapter 244: The Fangs of the Ancient Giant Trolls (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

Reine saw Graham, the slightly plump security chief of the trade district, and his face changed drastically, knowing that some matters must have exceeded his expectations.

However, Reine wasn’t the least bit afraid, on the contrary, he felt eager to try.

These past few days, he had been going back and forth within the Sword Holder Minter Branch, either attending general courses in the newcomer building’s hall or training Extraordinary Battle Techniques in the flow room, or receiving treatment in the advanced flow room.

Now that there was an opportunity for real combat, he naturally wanted to see for himself.

“Baron Graham, shouldn’t we rush to the scene immediately?” Reine suggested.

“Oh, oh! Yes, Lord Reine, we’ll head there right away.” Only then did Graham remember that he had a genius Great Knight beside him, who might help him resolve this trouble.

Thus, Reine and his group, escorted by dozens of security officers and Night Watchmen, hurried to the site of the incident.

On the cobblestone-paved road, messengers galloped back and forth, bringing one piece of fresh news after another:

“That native can control animals, many horses are running wild and trampling, and dogs are biting people everywhere.”

“Baron Imwe was killed on the spot by a surprise attack after his warhorse got frightened, and now the scene is in complete chaos….”

“The Griffin Knights, to prevent any accidents, didn’t land, but they’ve been watching the person from above….”

“The person is now fleeing through the fur market… We are intercepting!”

“The person has entered the Yakesen Auction House warehouse, we have surrounded the warehouse.”

…

Reine, on the side, didn’t speak, but he captured several key pieces of information.

Native?

Control of animals?

The Griffin Knights have arrived?

The location is the Yakesen Auction House warehouse?

Also… what was Baron Imwe’s strength?

“Baron Graham, what is Lord Imwe’s level of strength?” Reine asked.

“A Peak Knight, just like yourself, also a Great Person of the Sword Holders organization. He had recently come to the trade district to take up his post, previously he was in the civilian district.” Graham said quickly.

A Peak Knight?

It seems the enemy’s strength must be at least that of a Great Knight, otherwise it would be impossible to kill a Peak Knight with a single blow.

Even with a sneak attack, it’s not possible!

The streets in the trade district are quite spacious, but the stalls that are set up all year round on the sides and the excessive flow of people make it a hassle to navigate.

Especially now, the closer they get to the destination, the streams of panicked people and screams are incessant!

Huh?

Isn’t this the location of the shop that Jenny rented?

Reine looked towards the left front side of the street, and saw a familiar figure standing at the doorway looking toward the scene, it was the petite figure of Matteo.

“Matteo!”

“Lord Reine? What brings you here?” Matteo, surprised to see Reine surrounded by people, ran over happily.

Graham glanced over, but being as anxious as an ant on a hot pot, Reine naturally wouldn’t pick this moment to make introductions.

“I now serve as a security consultant for the trade district, so I’ll likely be here more often than before.” Reine said offhandedly as he quickened his pace.

“That’s great, the two ladies often talk about you.” Matteo’s face lit up with joy.

Graham’s ears perked up.

Noble daughters?

Two of them?

Is he hiding his lover or have they eloped?

No, no, eloping is unnecessary; if my daughter found such a talented person, as parents we would be overjoyed, why would we let them elope…

Could it be that Lord Reine has a prior engagement?

No wonder…

Graham instantly concocted the ‘real’ reasons for Reine’s part-time job in the trade district!

But soon, a succession of bad news interrupted his thoughts.

“What, twenty-two people have died?” Sweat beads the size of beans formed on Graham’s forehead.

Once the death toll exceeds thirty, no matter whether the situation is ultimately resolved or not, his tenure as security chief would be considered over.

Everyone knows that the position of security chief in the trade district is a cushy job, and countless people are eying it…

Although he has backers, if he handles this situation poorly, it’s a matter of competence!

In such a case, even if his superiors wanted to protect him, they couldn’t keep him in his position.

Being transferred from his current post was inevitable.

Soon, Reine and Graham had arrived at the entrance of the large warehouse, which hugged the mountainside, appearing to have once been an abandoned mine.

They saw the warehouse entrance encircled by dozens of elite Night Watchmen and security officers, swords and shields ready, bows drawn.

“Sir, the brothers have discovered that Yakesen Auction House’s warehouse still has many slaves and large beasts locked inside.”

“Lord Barnes just rushed in, he instructed us to guard the main door.”

…

At that moment, a plump man resembling a butler, accompanied by two brawny guards, ran over panting from the side. Seeing Graham, he waved frantically: “Baron Graham, Baron Graham!”

“It’s Asani, the caravan overseer of Yakesen Auction House, let him through.” Graham gestured, and the crowd immediately made way.

“Baron Graham, I really didn’t mean to cause you any trouble. This time it’s a native slave from a remote island who has escaped. I have no idea how he got out.”

“Hm? He’s from your caravan?” Baron Graham’s face darkened, his anger rising rapidly.
