Chapter 591: Chapter 248: Stone Steps on the Island (Two-in-One Chapter)_4

Javier tried using the core skill “Beastly Vitality” again and found that the intensity of the magical heat flow he could draw from this time was greater than that from the previous wolves.

This indicated that the effect of Beastly Vitality was closely related to the strength of the target he drew from.

Additionally, he felt the side effects more distinctly.

It seemed that after drawing the heat flow from both the wolf and the bear, the previously inconspicuous wolf howls and bear roars suddenly got louder, causing a significantly stronger disturbance to his mind.

Meanwhile, the bear roar was slightly stronger than the wolf howl.

Another thing was that this enhancement was not a gradual linear increase.

It was a kind of jump-like increase.

Although this disturbance was not considered too strong for Javier, who possessed a Spirit stat of 39, and he could easily withstand it,

it inevitably gave Javier food for thought.

“Does this mean, if I continuously use the core skill ‘Beastly Vitality’ in a short period, the side effect ‘Soul of the Beast’ will cause an increasingly stronger mental disturbance?”

At that moment, Javier suddenly turned his head towards the black horse beside him.

The black horse whinnied!

Its hooves were constantly scraping the ground, seemingly very agitated.

“Hmm?”

“Is it about to evolve?” Javier raised an eyebrow, his face showing delight.

“What timing to evolve now.”

“Could it be that the long journey today allowed the accumulated effects of the mutant growth potion it has been consuming to be fully released?”

At this point, a system prompt followed:

[Host’s pet, the Jenny Horse, influenced by long-term consumption of mutant growth potion, begins its mutation evolution!]

[Mutation Evolution in progress….]

…

The black horse snorted angrily, its muscles trembling and its shiny fur surface, veins popping like worms!

Minutes passed….

A bulge suddenly appeared on the forehead of the black horse and quickly, a bump similar to a rhino’s horn protruded.

The body size hadn’t changed much, just slightly larger, becoming more robust.

At this moment, system prompts started to flood the screen:

[Host’s subordinate pet Jenny Horse has successfully evolved into the ferocious ‘Swift-Horn Horse’!]

[Your Beast Taming skill has been enhanced, Experience +567]

[Your Beast Priest (Legendary) profession gains +119 Experience]

[Congratulations, your Beast Priest (Legendary) profession level has increased!]

[Ding! Host can now contract more pets, current (3/4)]

….

(Note: Swift-Horn Horse has awakened talent ability ‘Swift’)

[Yes/No, would you like to rename Swift-Horn Horse?]

Without much thought, Javier chose ‘No.’

The system naming it Swift-Horn Horse was quite fitting.

Looking at the black horse’s successful evolution and seeing the Beast Priest (Legendary) level change from lv1→lv2 (31/300) on the screen.

The remaining attribute points increased again from 12 to 13, and more importantly, Javier’s remaining Skill Points were no longer 0.

Double happiness made Javier break into a smile!

Actually, it was triple happiness, because the number of contractable pets increased by one, reaching four.

Walking around the black horse, Javier carefully examined it and found that though its appearance hadn’t changed much, just an additional horn about ten centimeters long,

after the mutation, the originally herbivorous flat teeth had grown several sharp fangs.

Javier tried feeding it some jerky, and the Swift-Horn Horse immediately devoured it enthusiastically!

Its eyes seemed to light up.

Indeed.

Having been an herbivore before, this was its first time experiencing meat, making the Swift-Horn Horse feel as though it had discovered a New Continent!

After the Swift-Horn Horse finished eating, Javier took it for a test ride and found that compared to before, only the stamina seemed to have greatly increased.

However, when utilizing the talent ability ‘Swift,’ the speed was significantly faster by a large margin, and the duration was not short either.

Looking at this, it seemed even more suited for long-distance travels.

…

A quarter hour later, Javier looked at the arrow-shaped road signs ahead and stopped.

Three arrows, pointing in three different directions.

The right-turn arrow to Flashgold Town, straight ahead to Meist County City, and left naturally to Fishing Port Town.

After a brief consideration, Javier did not choose to go to Flashgold Town or the County Town but directly turned left, heading rapidly towards Fishing Port Town.

Rescuing was urgent!

Before long, another checkpoint appeared ahead; this one was even more heavily guarded, with numerous spiked wooden barriers on the road and dozens of fully armed giant shield crossbowmen on alert there.

Seeing Javier approaching, they immediately heightened their guard and shouted, “Beyond here is a battle zone with the Sea Clan, irrelevant people, please leave immediately!”

Javier slowed down, showed his credentials again, and was then allowed to pass.

Shortly after, Javier stood on a hill not far from Fishing Port Town, looking towards the familiar town.

At that moment, smoke was billowing everywhere in Fishing Port Town, the details within the town weren’t very clear, but it was evident that many of the broken walls were still burning, and the sounds of battle were continuously coming from all directions.

In such a chaotic battlefield, finding envoy Javier’s young daughter Alyosha without guidance would be as difficult as ascending to heaven.

Fortunately, Javier had a Sensing Stone given to him by Javier, which could detect Alyosha’s position within several kilometers.

Javier then took out the nearly transparent Sensing Stone from his pocket and walked over a dozen meters in several directions.

Relying on his sensitive perception, Javier discovered that if he headed in the southeast direction, the light of the Sensing Stone would change slightly, becoming a bit brighter.

Obviously, Alyosha should be in that direction.

Thus, Javier again used the skill ‘Beast Eye,’ and with the acute vision of Blood Feather, he noticed that a few dozen meters outside the coastline to the southeast, a nameless small island harbored a large gathering of fishmen,

among them, several visibly larger male Blood Curse Nagas!

What surprised Javier even more was that after he clearly observed the island’s terrain,

he suddenly discovered that there was a large hole in the center of the island, about seven to eight meters in diameter….

Peepingly showing within it, stone steps leading into deep underground seemed to suggest that the island harbored secrets unknown to others!
