Chapter 584: Chapter 247 Assigning Tasks (Two-in-One Large Chapter)

“Last night, both Meister and Rosby Counties were attacked, with reportedly heavy casualties!”

“What!” Rein couldn’t help but look horrified.

His family was all in Meister.

“What’s the specific situation? Was County Town attacked, or are you saying that the subordinate towns were attacked?” Rein hurriedly asked.

“That… is still unclear,” Evelyn shook her head.

She too was concerned because the intelligence was too vague.

“However, the general knowledge class originally scheduled for this morning has already been changed to an information briefing on the latest situation,” Evelyn continued.

“Then what are we waiting for, let’s go, Evelyn, we’ll first go and listen to the latest news,” said Rein with a solemn expression.

After all, guessing blindly only causes more panic.

…

By the time the two of them arrived at the newcomers’ training hall, everyone, including Vinica, had basically all arrived.

And judging by the serious expressions and the hushed conversations among the crowd, they too had received the news.

They didn’t let the crowd wait too long, a middle-aged man in an officer’s uniform, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of the Empowerment Division, Melanie, walked into the hall.

At once, the entire hall quieted down.

This middle-aged man had a very clean-shaven beard, and his demeanor seemed somewhat scholarly; his skin was delicate, and on his shoulders were gold epaulettes with a pair of golden leaves, plus three crescent-shaped golden insignia.

According to Rein’s knowledge of imperial military ranks, he could tell at a glance that the man was an imperial colonel.

But judging by the man’s floating gait that had just entered, he did not seem like a combatant.

After a brief introduction, it confirmed Rein’s guess; this Colonel named Belmont was a senior staff officer of the Imperial Army.

The first sentence Belmont recounted about the latest intelligence made even these Sword Bearer newcomers, who had far greater endurance than ordinary people, cry out in shock.

“Last night, several provinces including Mingster Province near Wazi Province, Nome Province, and other provinces were attacked to varying degrees, with heavy casualties,” said Staff Officer Belmont with a grave expression.

“What!” A Sword Bearer newcomer exclaimed.

“So many places were attacked?”

“Could it be the Eagle Federation?”

“Otherwise, who has such an ability?”

“….”

The hall at this moment was like a boiling pot, instantly becoming noisy!

Rein’s expression grew grave; the situation was much more severe than what Evelyn had described just now.

And a force capable of launching attacks in so many provinces of the empire was definitely extraordinary!

Who could the attackers or the masterminds behind the scenes be?

“Staff Officer Belmont, who are the attackers?” Viery raised his hand to signal, and asked with a hint of urgency.

This was also what most people present wanted to inquire.

The hall instantly became quiet again.

All eyes converged quickly on Staff Officer Belmont.

“Based on the information we have so far, the attackers include but are not limited to the Black Flame Cult, the limb attachment cult, the Sea God Sect, the Secret Snake Sect, among other cults, and additionally, some unusual races were also involved,” Belmont said as he raised a stack of documents in his hand and spoke earnestly.

No sooner had Belmont finished his statement than the crowd below grew noisy again!

“Is it a conspiracy by multiple cults working together in secret?”

“The cults have way too much audacity!”

“….”

Rein, meanwhile, raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Cults?

He had not expected such a large-scale attack to be stirred up by cults behind the scenes!

However…

If so many cults acted together, it would no longer be surprising.

“Is there no involvement of the Eagle Federation?” Angus then asked.

Staff Officer Belmont shook his head, “On the surface, we have not found any traces of involvement by the Eagle Federation.”

“Staff Officer Belmont, could you please tell us the specific locations being attacked in Meister and Rosby Counties?” Evelyn raised her hand in a timely manner, “Also, what about these unusual races that you mentioned earlier, sir?”

This question too was of concern to everyone, and the hall went quiet once more.

“Multiple towns including Fishing Port Town, Albero Town, Monheim Town, and Flashgold Town in Meister County were attacked, while in Rosby County, several towns including Rachmond Fishing Port Town were attacked….”

“The casualty count is still being compiled, but what is clear is that the casualties are very heavy.”

Upon hearing that towns were hit, Rein breathed a sigh of relief.

But Rein quickly came back to his senses.

Fishing Port Town?

Flashgold Town?

Immediately, Rein’s brows furrowed deeply!

He knew many familiar people in these two towns.

The Reiman brothers from Fishing Port Town…

There were even more in Flashgold Town—his good friend George, Sheriff Hamilton, the old captain of the Night Watchman Weilun, and so on…

Instantly, vibrant images of these people sprang up in Rein’s mind.

At that moment, Belmont continued to answer:

“As for the unusual races, based on the current intelligence, what can be confirmed is that according to the scales left on the ground of Meister Fishing Port Town and Rachmond Fishing Port, they appear to belong to a creature from the Ancient Times, the Blood Curse Naga!”

“Normally, this Naga tribe should have disappeared into the vast expanse of history.”

“But somehow, the Sea God Sect was able to incite them to attack the imperial coastline.”

“Our staff headquarters speculate that the Sea God Sect may have found the surviving members of their race in the deep sea, or the Sea God Sect might be using the power of some Evil God…”
