Chapter 579: Chapter 245: Job Change! Beast Priest (Legendary)! (Two-in-One Big Chapter)_4

“Very well!”

Lord Reine mostly wanted to see ‘Cookie,’ ‘Blood Feather,’ and the black horse.

He watched as the figures of Reine and his companions disappeared.

Hidden in the distance, the leader of the Axen caravan, Asani, with a glint in his eyes and a contemplative expression, soon whispered to several servants at his side, “Go, follow this Lord Reine and see where he goes.”

“Be careful, take turns, and do not get caught.”

“At your command, Lord Asani.”

…

The corpse of the native still lay there, guarded by over ten elite Night Watchmen. Asani thought for a moment, then quickly approached the trade district sheriff, Graham, and began to ingratiate himself.

Several minutes later, he started to speak, “Lord Graham, our caravan has lost an item, which we suspect was stolen by this native.”

“I would like to search the native’s body, if you see fit, may I?”

Graham, with an expressionless face, took the heavy purse Asani covertly handed him and quickly slipped it into his own belt pouch, but his response was still noncommittal:

“The man who killed him is Baron Reine, Asani, and this puts me in a difficult position.”

Damn!

Greedy fella!

“In this case, Lord Graham, how about this? Under your supervision, we check if the item is there or not. If it’s not, there’s no need to discuss further.”

“If it is there, I won’t take it away. I will first discuss the matter with Baron Reine. Please, would that be acceptable?” Asani quickly devised a workaround.

At least this way, he could determine whether the item was on the body of the deceased.

“Well then, alright!”

“Hurry up, I give you ten minutes.”

“Don’t get handsy; too many eyes are watching you.” Graham thought about it and quickly agreed.

After all, they were merely looking, and Lord Reine himself suffered no loss, while he, Graham, could consider it a favor granted to Asani.

Asani, a relieved smile on his face, waved to the two servants behind him, and they quickly began searching the native’s body.

At this moment, the native’s body was drenched in blood, covered with countless wounds of varying sizes and lengths, making it feel muddy and reek of blood.

But they had no choice, Asani and several followers thoroughly searched the native’s body to and fro but found nothing.

It did confirm one thing, though—the native had several fractured bones, and even two ribs were missing…

The Baron Reine of the Sword Bearers, indeed, was a ruthless man, even removing ribs!

…

Upon arriving at the residence Jenny had bought, Reine began to inspect it.

The residence, in terms of size, was only slightly larger than the one near the administrative hall in Flashgold Town, which was only due to the addition of a stable. However, the cost was as high as three thousand gold coins.

This made Reine sigh, “Living in the capital is indeed not easy!”

It wasn’t that the merchant funds were insufficient, but most of the capital was invested in renting shops and public relations. Moreover, they needed to keep enough funds for cash flow, which is why Jenny chose to temporarily buy this house.

Upon seeing its master, a dog as big as a small pony rushed over—it was Cookie. Wagging its tail excitedly, it barked a few times at Reine, “Woof, woof!”

There was a hint of cajoling in the bark, as well as a hint of complaint, as if saying, how come it took him so long to come see it!

Immediately, Cookie kept circling Lord Reine until he, laughing, petted him for a good while, finally calming him down.

At that moment, a sharp bird cry came from the rooftop, and Blood Feather, now nearly the size of an adult swan, swiftly swooped down and perched on the muscular arm of Lord Reine.

A few minutes later, Lord Reine went to the stables to check on the black horse.

But to his disappointment, although the black horse was spirited, it had not undergone any significant changes compared to before.

“Could it be that the black horse’s mutation failed?”

“Well, mutation growth potions aren’t always guaranteed to succeed every time.”

“But… what about increasing the dosage?”

“Could that possibly raise the success rate?”

….

Meanwhile,

Not far from Lord Reine’s residence on the streets,

“Lord Hammis, you’ve finally arrived,” Trader Asani said eagerly to a lean man in black leather armor, with a short dagger hanging from his waist.

“The item is no longer on that runaway native; it is very likely now in the hands of a Sword Bearer named Lord Reine, he is right in….”

….

Since Lord Reine planned to return to the Sword Bearers Branch after dinner with the two women, he paused for a moment, then first went back to the room Jenny had arranged for him, to rest for a bit.

Once in the room, Lord Reine started pondering over the two entirely different career paths following the Beast Tamer.

“I’m not sure what new core skills Beastmaster (Legendary) might have, but if I were to guess based on the lineage of Beast Tamer (Transcendent), if there is a new core skill, it would probably allow for more pets to be contracted.”

“That native’s ability to heal wounds is likely due to the Ancient Giant Troll fangs, and since Beast Priest (Legendary), as a special career change, consumes these fangs, it’s very likely that the career change would grant this skill. I’m truly envious….”

“And then there’s Control Beast Pack….”

“It’s not that Beastmaster (Legendary) isn’t good enough, it’s just that the benefits of Beast Priest (Legendary) right in front of me are too great….” Lord Reine sighed, having made a decision!

He then took out the pair of faintly glowing white Ancient Giant Troll fangs from his pouch.

The system prompt then sounded:

….

[Prerequisites for advancing to Beast Priest (Legendary) are: one, Beast Tamer (Transcendent) lv5 or above; two, Spirit 25 points or above; three, possession of at least one fierce beast; four, consumption of a pair of Ancient Giant Troll fangs…. Current conditions met, yes/no change profession to Beast Priest (Legendary)?]

[Note: Advancing to Beast Priest (Legendary) will override the Beast Tamer (Transcendent) profession panel.]

This time, Lord Reine did not hesitate to choose yes!

As the pair of Ancient Giant Troll fangs turned to powder…..

[Ding! Profession change successful!]

[Changed to Beast Priest (Legendary)! Strength +2, Agility +2, Constitution +2, Spirit +3! Acquired Beast Priest (Legendary) core skills: Beastly Robustness lv1 (Passive), Beastly Vitality lv1 (Active), Control Beast Pack lv1 (Active).]

…

Before Lord Reine could start examining the descriptions of the three core skills, suddenly, his expression darkened. Turning his head towards the door, he said,

“Who’s out there?”
