Chapter 554: Chapter 239: Exchange Conditions for Metal-based Witchcraft (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_3

“Hmm? Are there any restrictions or requirements on the number of people in a squad?” Reine was truly unfamiliar with this aspect, and according to what Calum had said, the general knowledge courses wouldn’t start until tomorrow morning at the earliest.

“Eh? Lord Reine hasn’t looked into it yet? Then let me give a brief introduction,” Viery and Angus exchanged glances before Angus spoke.

“Typically, Sword Bearer squads consist of three to five members. This number has been tried and tested: having more members reduces the number of Medals of Task Evaluation and Merit Points each person receives, and having too few compromises the squad’s combat effectiveness.”

“Moreover, the tasks a squad can take on depends on the captain’s authority, the higher the authority of the captain, the more tasks they can undertake.”

“Plus, the promotion system is based on the rule of threes; just like you, Lord Reine, are a Bronze-level captain currently, you’ll be able to advance to the Silver level once you’ve earned three Bronze Medals, thus allowing you to take on Silver-level tasks, and so on….”

Angus’s explanation was quite detailed, and Reine nodded repeatedly as he listened.

….

After lunch, Reine returned to his room to tidy up a bit before heading to the Item Exchange Hall.

The newcomer building that Reine had been staying in these past few days was located to the left of the imposing building that one saw right at the entrance of the Sword Bearers Branch.

Since one couldn’t move around freely within the Sword Bearers Branch without a badge, this was the first time Reine walked towards the inside of the branch.

This time, after the guards checked Reine’s badge, they promptly let him pass.

Reine first passed through a long white corridor, and at the end of the corridor, an arrow-shaped sign appeared before him, indicating three directions.

Straight ahead was the Task Hall, left turn for the training field and restrooms, and right turn for the Item Exchange Hall.

Following the signs, Reine turned right and walked a bit further, arriving for the first time at the Sword Bearers Branch’s special item exchange hall.

This was a separate three-story building with a facade of white striped stone blocks that matched the architectural style and colors of the entire branch, majestic and grand.

After entering, Reine discovered that the ceiling was over six meters high, seemingly with the first and second floors combined, very spacious, similar to the certification halls from his previous life.

Inside, four or five uniformed young girls were at the counters, assisting many people with their item exchanges.

However, seemingly out of a need for confidentiality, each counter had a partition and served only one person at a time, and anyone else who needed assistance had to wait on seats ten meters back for a while.

It wasn’t long before it was Reine’s turn.

Once he stepped inside the partition, Reine noticed a black slab on the table—about thirty to forty centimeters square—continuously emitting witchcraft luminescence. It seemed to have a specific sorcery pattern fixed into it.

The young girl stood up, bowed, and said:

“Hello, may I know how I can assist you, sir?”

“I would like to inquire about Metal Sorcery.” replied Reine.

“Of course, sir. Could you please present your badge?”

Reine nodded and handed over his freshly minted Bronze badge.

The girl took a glance at it, placed the badge into a specially designed recess, and soon white text appeared on the black slab in front of Reine.

Reine raised his eyebrows, clearly surprised by the magical effect.

A stone tablet display?

Could it be a touchscreen too?

“Lord Reine, you currently have Bronze-level access, which allows you to view the catalog of items exchangeable up to the Gold level.”

“Did you just mention Metal Sorcery that you wish to look up?”

“Alright, please wait a moment,” said the girl as she quickly flipped through a thick catalog.

After a short while, the girl’s eyes brightened as she spoke, “Sir, I found it. The Metal Sorcery available to you within the Gold level and below is only one kind, named the ‘Metal Morphing Spell.’

Reine lifted his eyebrows in pleasant surprise. After a moment’s thought, he asked, “Could you show me the related information? Like the sorcery description and the exchange cost, etc.”

“Certainly, Lord Reine. I have now displayed the effects of the ‘Metal Morphing Spell’ on the Wisdom Stone tablet for you to see.”

After the girl spoke, lines of white text suddenly updated on the black stone tablet in front of Reine:

“Metal Morphing Spell: A first-level witchcraft that consumes a certain amount of spiritual power, altering the shape of metal the Caster touches using a specific witchcraft model.”

“Exchange Price: 1 Gold Medal plus 5500 Merit Points.”

“Source: Provided by the Bixu Construct School.”

Reine looked at the text thoughtfully without saying a word.

Metal Morphing Spell, huh?

If one could control the transformation of metal, wouldn’t that mean one could turn a Warhammer into a greatsword, or even a battle bow?

After a moment of contemplation, Reine couldn’t help feeling elated!

Based on the description of this Transformation Magic, once he learned it, it meant he would no longer need to carry multiple weapons.

After all, he did not have three heads and six arms, and it was impossible to use a Dual-Handed Greatsword and a Two-Handed Warhammer along with other weapons all at once.

During battle, carrying only one weapon, such as the heaviest Two-Handed Warhammer, would suffice.

Carrying only the weight of one weapon, in total, would effectively halve the overall burden, if not more.

Thus, his stamina expenditure would be significantly reduced, and more importantly, there would be a notable increase in his speed. Overall, the implications were tremendous!

However….

Something occurred to Reine, and his expression changed suddenly. “May I see the Sorcery Scroll of this Metal Morphing Spell?” he asked.
