Chapter 585: Chapter 247 Assigning Tasks (Two-in-One Large Chapter)_2

“The Blood Curse Naga of this clan are different from other Naga, more cruel, bloodthirsty, and fond of attacking humans and conducting blood sacrifices,”

“The adult males of the Blood Curse Naga can match the strength of a human Great Knight, and as a matriarchal clan, the female Naga’s combat power is even more astounding—adults hold the power of an official Wizard,”

Adults are equivalent to Great Knights?

As ferocious as the Ancient Giant Trolls!

Rein flipped through the “Ancient Races: The Troll Chapter” which contained records of the strength of adult Ancient Giant Trolls.

The female Blood Curse Naga are even more powerful, adults equate official Wizards?

Such a blessed race… Rein couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.

If he didn’t have the system, who knows when he’d become a Great Knight, let alone an official Wizard!

“In addition, among some of the ruined buildings in Richmond Fishing Port, Imperial scouts discovered giant humanoid footprints, over one and a half meters long and about eighty centimeters wide. We believe these belong to a Sea Giant,” said Advisor Belmont as he continued.

Sea Giants?

Rein raised an eyebrow.

Lately, all sorts of ancient or rare races seemed to be springing up like mushrooms after rain.

A troubled autumn indeed!

“However, we are currently unsure which clan these Sea Giants come from. The Sea Giant clan closest to the imperial territories is the Fury Wave Giants. This is also why we suspect that the Sea God Sect is behind this,”

“Sea Giants and Naga are natural archenemies, and the likelihood of both attacking the Empire simultaneously is extremely low,”

“Additionally, the ancient Naga possess the ability to summon marine creatures to assist in battle. At this moment, the coastlines of various counties in Mingster are swarming with Gray Fin Fishmen, Black Gill Fishmen, Blue Gills Deep Sea Fishmen, Giant Claw Lobstermen and other vassal clans,”

“Currently, the Imperial forces stationed in Mingster Province have already begun clashing fiercely with the enemy…”

“Advisor Belmont, what about the movements of the Imperial Navy?” Vinica asked anxiously after hearing about the coastal attackers involving the Sea God Sect and Blood Curse Naga.

Rein knew that the pigtailed girl was probably concerned about people she knew, such as Master Annius and Major Mary.

“The Imperial Navy is currently battling several giant sea creatures; the specifics, due to involving the mobility of the Imperial Navy, are highly confidential, and I am not very clear,” Advisor Belmont shook his head.

…

Not long after, Advisor Belmont concluded with the latest updates and left the newcomers’ hall.

Though Rein still had many questions in his heart.

Like, where was the Empire’s elite combat power?

Was there a higher level of strategy?

Moreover, with such significant events occurring, didn’t the intelligence department know, or was this incident directly orchestrated and driven by the Evil Gods?

…

At that moment, the Assistant Secretary of the Sword Bearers Branch, Melanie, stepped forward and announced the latest directive:

“Ladies and gentlemen, according to the orders from above, special training is suspended; all Sword Bearer recruits are to be uniformly deployed for watch and defense duties across the districts of Mingster,”

As soon as Melanie’s words fell, many below immediately questioned:

“Miss Melanie, why aren’t we being sent to the frontlines?”

“Yes, my parents are still in Rossby County…”

…

“Ladies and gentlemen, please be quiet!” Melanie’s face sterned, she continued: “This is an order from above. If everyone disobeys the command, only caring to rescue their own families, what purpose does the organization serve?”

“I fully understand your feelings, the Empire has already dispatched rescue teams immediately; additional troops are also being mobilized,”

“Moreover, the vast majority of you do not yet possess the capability to undertake special tasks on the frontline,”

“Currently, the lowest level tasks on the frontline are of Silver grade…”

“Deploying you in ordinary combat would be a misuse of potential, and thus, the higher-ups have decided to have you reinforce the security in the districts of Mingster, essentially as peacekeepers,”

…

Having heard the latest intelligence, Rein naturally wanted to return to Meist immediately, to bring his family and Jennifer to the safer Mingster.

But his current problem was that as a Sword Bearer, he needed to follow the arrangements from the higher-ups.

However…

He was now considering another issue.

Since Melanie mentioned that the frontline involved Silver grade tasks.

If he could manage to settle his three Bronze medals earlier, he could upgrade his badge privileges to Silver level, thus being able to take on Silver grade tasks,

This might allow him the opportunity to head to Meist, and enroute, bring his family to safety in Meist County City.

…

Half an hour later, Rein arrived at the Task Hall.

“Sir, your provisional task hasn’t ended, and we cannot settle the task rewards,” the young female clerk apologized.

“Isn’t there any other way?”

“This…Sir, if you have a special reason, I would recommend communicating with senior officers,”

“During the provisional task period, can I take on other tasks?” Rein asked again.

“I’m afraid not, Sir. Unless it is a high-priority assigned task, you can only complete one task at a time,” the young clerk apologized.

She too had heard about some of the attacks in Mingster Province and had relatives in several counties there; she truly understood the worries of the young noble before her.

But she didn’t have any solution.

As Rein left the Task Hall, he felt somewhat dejected, willing to give up his three Bronze medal tasks.
