His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2201: Chapter 640: One Year Later (17) Do You Miss Her? (2)

A little past eleven, Qin Mu’s phone rang.

But because she didn’t sleep well last night, she was catching up on sleep in the morning. When she heard the phone ring, her temples throbbed with pain. With effort, her gentle arm reached out from the blanket, found the phone without even lifting her eyes, and answered: ”Hello?”

”Still not awake?”

Mu Yichen frowned.

There was sudden silence on the other end, almost half a minute went by before a sound was heard.

”Oh! No, I’m not!”

The weak response was clearly a lie.

Mu Yichen also paused for a moment, then spoke again: ”Huanhuan and Chengcheng want to visit you for Christmas, can you spend time with them?”

”They want to come? Yes, I do, I do!”

Qin Mu’s voice suddenly perked up. Mu Yichen somehow felt she must have just sat up from bed, probably not fully awake yet.

”Then make some preparations, they’ll come over before Christmas Eve and have to return after Christmas Day.”

Mu Yichen added, his face not showing much expression, his eyes looking at the drawer inside the desk.

”Ok! Oh, by the way, about mom...”

”You don’t have to worry about mom!”

Mu Yichen said again, then turned to look out the window, the gloomy weather made one feel uneasy.

”Oh! Then, who will bring them here?”

The other side hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping.

”Who do you want to bring them?”

Mu Yichen asked coldly.

”If you’re busy, just have someone else bring them over, I’ll be at the airport to pick them up early.”

Qin Mu’s voice always seemed to lack energy.

”Have you not been eating properly lately?”

Mu Yichen finally couldn’t listen any longer and asked her a bit irritably.

”No! It’s just, I’m still not quite awake!”

Unconsciously revealing the fact that she still hadn’t gotten out of bed.

”Is it very cold in Paris?”

This was their first phone call after she left, it had been a while.

”Oh! It just snowed a little yesterday.”

Qin Mu adjusted the blanket over her shoulders, chatting with her knees hugged.

Mu Yichen’s office was unusually quiet at the moment, as if everything was afraid of disturbing their conversation, it was extraordinarily silent.

”Take care of yourself.”

He frowned and softly told her.

”Mm!”

Qin Mu fell silent again, Mu Yichen suddenly felt his hand stiffen, and without even saying goodbye, he hung up the phone.

But after hanging up, he couldn’t sit still, stood up, walked towards the window, looking at the gloomy weather outside, he finally sighed and then took his coat to go out.

Xi Meng watched him leave and didn’t look for him, anyway, it wasn’t a busy day, just shortly after, Qiao Yi called her to ask for leave, saying he was going to play ball with Brother Yichen and wouldn’t be able to have lunch with her.

Xi Meng sighed helplessly, just didn’t expect to receive a call from Chen Xiaoyi. Xi Meng looked at it, thought for a long time before answering: ”Hello, this is Xi Meng!”

”Secretary Xi didn’t save my number? This is Chen Xiaoyi.”

Chen Xiaoyi’s soft voice made Xi Meng feel a bit embarrassed.

”Yes! Miss Chen, is there something you need from me?”

Xi Meng asked softly.

”Yes! I just couldn’t get through to Young Master Chen’s phone, I wanted to ask if he’s at work today?”

”Mr. Mu just went out, seems like he’s going to play ball with a friend!”

Xi Meng explained, but in her heart, she thought, was this Chen Xiaoyi checking Mu Yichen’s whereabouts?

”I see, no wonder! Thank you, Secretary Xi. I was wondering if Secretary Xi would have some time, I’d like to invite you for a cup of tea.”

”Though the boss isn’t busy, I’ve really been quite busy these past few days, so, my apologies.”

Xi Meng politely declined, but after hanging up, she felt tired. Over the past few years, she didn’t know how many women wanted to invite her to meals, all because she had a handsome and wealthy boss. Those women wanted to have meals with her only to find out about her boss’s affairs, but she was just a secretary, not a personal life assistant.

Moreover, today’s call from Chen Xiaoyi, Xi Meng always felt that Chen Xiaoyi might not be as simple as she appeared, at least, she’s someone who knows how to handle things.

Just not as aloof as Qin Mu.

At noon, Xi Meng had lunch with colleagues in the staff canteen. A few girls surrounded her wanting to gossip, Xi Meng looked at this group, smiled helplessly: ”What do you want to ask, go ahead?”

”That Miss Chen came to the office building to find our boss, and he wasn’t even mad.”

”Sister Xi Meng, is our boss going to get together with this Miss Chen?”

”Yeah, even the internet is abuzz with it. This is the first time our boss has treated another woman this well, aside from our former boss’s wife.”
