His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2226: Chapter 648: One Year Later (25) - Back Again! (Third Update)_3

”Mom gave Chen Xiaoyi a bracelet, Huanhuan was upset and a conflict arose, so she moved out.”

As Mu Yichen said this, he glanced at the rear-view mirror, Qin Mu’s expression obviously tense.

But afterwards, after the tension, there was a forlorn helplessness.

”Is that so?”

Her voice suddenly became very low.

”Currently, Sister Zhang is taking care of her and Chengcheng, in an apartment in the city center.”

Mu Yichen seemed unreserved, as if they were already divorced and discussing their children as topics, the only subject they’d speak of in the future.

When Qin Mu heard him speak of the children being in the apartment, she didn’t remain unaffected, but remembering Feng Fanghua’s words made her a little fearful.

”Oh!”

She responded, but her voice was already deeply affected.

Mu Yichen looked at the forlorn face in the rear-view mirror but said no more.

They soon arrived at the civil affairs bureau. Qin Mu sensed the car stopping and felt her neck stiff, aching. But that wasn’t the focus; the focus was that the civil affairs bureau seemed to be closed?

Qin Mu pushed the car door open and went out, just suspecting she had a vision problem, just to run up those steps and walk to the entrance.

The doors were indeed locked.

She turned around, looking at the car still parked below, but Mu Yichen hadn’t come out. Had he known long before, or was his eyesight just good?

Suddenly feeling a little lost, Qin Mu looked around, suddenly unsure why she was here at this time.

But later, she returned to the car.

”Let’s go back to the apartment first, we’ll talk after lunch.”

”No! There’s no point in discussing it further. Don’t you know people at the civil affairs bureau? Can’t you call them to help us handle the procedures?”

Qin Mu’s gaze urgently met his as she suggested.

”Is this little time really important to you?”

Mu Yichen turned and coldly asked her, yes, he disliked how she always made a fuss about it.

”Otherwise? Didn’t I come back from far away to divorce you?”

Qin Mu found it amusing; after all, he had sent the message to her.

”I thought you’d at least want to meet Mu Chenghuan and Mu Chengyang.”

He started the car and turned away, but his cold face showed Qin Mu’s undoubted anger, a fury suppressed with force.

Meet the siblings?

How could she not want to?

Mu Yichen, do you know your mother pleaded with me not to see them?

A mother who needs permission to see her children, it’s already tragic.

Qin Mu gave a bitter smile, hands entwined, rubbing forcefully.

Lowered head, no longer lifted, since eyelashes already held a heavy mist.

The car was close to the apartment when Qin Mu spoke again: ”I’m not going, not to see them.”

Her voice was very low, Mu Yichen stopped the car, but when she tried to push the door open to get out, the door was locked by him first.

Qin Mu turned her head in confusion to look at him, already tearful, yet stubborn.

”Did you call me because Mom called you and told you to talk about divorce? Didn’t she let you come back to see the kids?”

Mu Yichen faced the road ahead, a cold indifference in his eyes.

Qin Mu was silent for a while, uncertain how to respond.

”You’ve overthought!”

She thought for a moment, speaking softly.

Qin Mu thought to herself that as a daughter-in-law, she truly believed she’s done all she could, hoping that in the future, their relationship wouldn’t be a hostile one, wishing Feng Fanghua didn’t hate her so intensely, regarding whether Chen Xiaoyi would have children, she believed Feng Fanghua would still cherish her son and daughter.

”What if I told you that Mom admitted it to me?”

Mu Yichen chuckled.

”Anyone always holds more importance in your mind than I do, now even the children can’t compare?”

Mu Yichen asked her, finally willing to look at her, yet so mercilessly.

Qin Mu also looked at him, somewhat unclear about what he meant by this.

Their gazes met, filled with endless resentment, incessant energy, fighting a battle whose origin was unknown.

Qin Mu couldn’t win against him, only turning to gaze out the window as tears unstoppably gushed out.

”What else can I do? You two always push me to this, everyone says I’m heartless, abandoning children for freedom abroad, is that what I want? Consider who pushed me away? Who didn’t allow me to see the children? And then Dad and Mom and Grandpa, how can I compete with them?”

She felt a sudden surge of grievance, tears burst before him, utterly drenched her entire face, her voice trembling, overwhelmed by emotion, questioning him uncontrollably.

”Why not? Show the determination you need for divorce, is there anything you, a heartless woman, wouldn’t do? Are you aggrieved? You never consider you are precisely the kind they say, selfish, cold, always self-centered; what do I and the children even count for in your heart?”

He didn’t know when he’d undone his seatbelt, grasping her shoulders firmly soon, and she felt her shoulder bones seemed about to break, but his anger always overpowered hers.

Qin Mu felt like a pathetic stray dog, truly wretched and useless, unconsciously raising her hand, forcefully slapping her tear-stained face.

”You mean nothing, okay?”

She managed word by word, squeezing out from between clenched teeth, using all her strength.

Mu Yichen suddenly released her, started the car and left the place, the seatbelt unfastened.

While Qin Mu collapsed in tears inside the car, long suppressed grievances erupted once more.

Sometimes, no matter how much you avoid doing something before someone, only before that person can you actually do it.

But how could one deny it’s all Mu’s contribution?

—

”Let’s go back to the apartment, since you’ve returned, stay to spend the New Year with the siblings. Our divorce will involve many financial matters, we need another time for detailed discussion.”

The vehicle later stopped in the apartment’s underground parking lot, Mu Yichen already that cold-faced beast, no, calm and wise.
