His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2248: Chapter 654: One Year Later (31) Your New Tactic Against Me?

”Makes sense. Since when have I ever liked wearing blue myself? I only like watching ’women’ wear it!”

Mu Yichen had already pressed Qin Mu back against the cabinet door. Qin Mu was so angry her chest was heaving, her eyes bright and sharp, looking like she was about to bite someone. Mu Yichen lowered his gaze, taking in that look of hers that made his teeth itch with hatred; the urge to throw her onto the bed right now and do her a few thousand times was practically burning him alive.

Yet no matter how restrained Mu Yichen’s gaze seemed, it missed nothing. His words, however, were still so frivolous, low and arrogant.

Qin Mu only felt that he was crowding her so much she could barely breathe. She’d already been bottling up a bellyful of anger, and now the one unpleasant line she managed to get out was actually refuted by him, which made her even madder. But no matter what she did, she couldn’t push him away.

”If you don’t get up off me, I’m going to cry!”

Qin Mu couldn’t figure him out, and in her panic the words just slipped out.

Mu Yichen’s expression grew a bit more serious as he looked unhappily at her tearful face.

”Is this your new tactic against me?”

Reluctantly, Mu Yichen let go of that soft, fragrant body. His pitch‑black phoenix eyes pinned her tear‑filled ones as he asked.

”So what if it is?”

Qin Mu shot back stubbornly, refusing to answer directly.

The two of them had known each other so many years; they both knew each other’s tricks by heart. They’d played too many real‑fake games against each other.

”What else can I do?”

Mu Yichen gave her a look, then let his gaze travel carefully from her chest downward, scrutinizing her.

He wanted to devour her, but he didn’t want to do it here.

No idea why—just a moment ago he’d been burning with the impulse to take this woman right here, but now, looking at her putting on that coquettish ”no yet yes” act, he suddenly gave up.

This woman turned into a completely different person after drinking. Mu Yichen studied the stubborn line of her jaw at this moment, then lightly let her go.

Once Qin Mu was released, her body went soft and she almost slipped to the floor.

Mu Yichen froze for a second, and just as he was about to catch her, she braced both hands against the cabinet door first and steadied herself.

Seeing the smile gradually forming on Mu Yichen’s face, Qin Mu felt embarrassed as well, but she still refused to show even a hint of weakness.

”I’m going out first! You can stay here and calm down by yourself!”

Mu Yichen said lightly, turned around, and walked away like some playboy young master who’d just teased the woman at home and then irresponsibly left, even tossing out a line like that to humiliate her on his way out.

The fire in Qin Mu’s chest only burned hotter. She waited until she heard the door close before letting out a heavy sigh.

By the time she went out again, Xiaomei was already sitting on the sofa, and of course, Zhao Huai was keeping her company at the side.

The kids still hadn’t shown up. It was Xiaomei who, upon seeing her, jumped up excitedly from the sofa, with something draped over her wrist that looked like a gown.

Xiaomei looked at her, delighted. ”Qinqin, I’m here to deliver your wedding dress!”

”What?”

Qin Mu was sure she must have misheard, so she asked again, already guessing that Xiaomei had been bought off by Zhao Huai and Mu Yichen.

”Oh! No, not a wedding dress! It’s a gown!”

Xiaomei panicked and hurriedly corrected herself.

But seeing that stiff smile of hers only made Qin Mu more suspicious. She lowered her voice and asked, ”Why are you suddenly bringing me a gown for no reason?”

They were all familiar, so she didn’t bother with pleasantries. She walked right over and pinched one corner of the gown Xiaomei had brought to take a look.

Zhao Huai and Mu Yichen both stayed silent, trying to keep their composure. Zhao Huai’s expression, however, was a bit strained, like he was sneaking around doing something bad and was about to be exposed.

The sun had disappeared early, as if it were going to rain. Outside the large glass window, because of the time of day, the sky was gloomy and unpredictable.

”It’s their company’s cocktail party tonight! Since we’re family, we can go join the fun too. I spent the whole afternoon picking this for you before finally finding one that was barely acceptable. You’re not going to refuse to wear it, are you?”

Xiaomei deliberately made it sound exaggerated and pitiful.

Qin Mu shot her a sharp look, then gently set down the corner of the gown and said softly, ”We’re JY. Is there any gown from us that doesn’t look good once it’s on?”

Xiaomei...

Zhao Huai’s forehead was practically sweating. Listening to Qin Mu’s unhurried, calm line, as if everything was under her control, was enough to make a person burn up inside even in the dead of winter.

Meanwhile, Mu Yichen was sitting on the sofa, holding a cup of tea and taking small sips, looking like nothing had happened.

Zhao Huai shot Mu Yichen a glance and felt even more annoyed. He thought, It’s your own business and you don’t even care, and here we are, husband and wife, anxious and walking on thin ice for you.

”Of course, of course, naturally. I was just too nervous just now! You...”
