His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2215: Chapter 645: One Year Later (22) Not Wearing It (Third Update)

”Just once is fine, so I’ll head back now!”

Chen Xiaoyi felt warmed by Mu Yichen’s concern for her, nodded, and walked out.

After the office door was closed, Zhao Huai finally exhaled, thinking that being a third wheel wasn’t easy.

”Yichen, you used to love spending time in the messy place like the kitchen.”

Zhao Huai leaned into the sofa, took a breath, and reminded Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen gave him a mild look: ”Well, there’s no need to go now, right?”

Zhao Huai somehow felt Mu Yichen’s words carried a hint of melancholy.

”Yichen, do you actually have feelings for Chen Xiaoyi? If you don’t, why see her every day and let her fuss around your office? If you do, she’s obviously put a lot of thought into her pricey purchases; why would you reject them?”

”Reject? Didn’t you see the clothes fall to the ground themselves?”

Mu Yichen sneered and retorted.

”You, really?”

Zhao Huai couldn’t understand anymore; his expression was twisting. Since Mu Yichen got involved with Chen Xiaoyi, Zhao as his side-kick couldn’t grasp his thoughts anymore.

”Why didn’t I know we’re meeting a client for lunch?”

Mu Yichen decided to switch the topic instead of dwelling on the previous issue.

Zhao Huai couldn’t help but cough twice: ”Well, you wouldn’t let me leave, so I had to come up with an excuse.”

”In that case, let’s invite Zhiyuan for lunch, and call Qin to see if he’s free to join us.”

Mu Yichen figured, why not enjoy a meal with the brothers when idle, as these little joys were most satisfying.

”What about tonight?”

Zhao Huai asked him in a teasing tone.

”Tonight? Since when have you been concerned about my evenings? Want to keep me company?”

”Let’s have Miss Chen accompany you!”

Zhao Huai immediately sprang up, finished his tea, and dashed out with his phone.

Left with no energy, Mu Yichen suddenly sank into the sofa, fiddling with the teacup, his eyes lacking any brightness, until he noticed something. He glanced at the clothes tossed on the sofa and the exquisite packaging box on the coffee table, marked in stark contrast.

Qin Mu didn’t favor excessively eye-catching clothes, preferring ones with an understated glow that brought comfort.

Blue?

Maybe because Mrs. Feng mentioned he liked blue, Mu Yichen noticed Chen Xiaoyi wasn’t a fan of blue herself, yet recently her attire and accessories all seemed to have touches of blue, and he couldn’t help but lightly smile.

A girl willing to put such effort into him was commendable.

Last night, Jing Feng questioned him over drinks if he knew what Chen Xiaoyi sought by accommodating him, but after thinking it over, what woman approached him without wanting something?

Even back when Qin Mu agreed to their marriage, wasn’t it because he could help her establish herself in Rongcheng?

Start anew!

——

Zhao Huai and Xi Meng were having tea in the break room when Xi Meng asked: ”Did Mu finally put on the clothes Chen Xiaoyi gave?”

”He planned to wear them, but somehow they ended up on the ground, so he handed them over to me. Worrying Xiaomei might be upset, I can’t accept them, so they’re still in his office. Who knows what will happen later.”

Zhao Huai shook his head with his coffee; he still couldn’t figure it out, thought Mu Yichen would wear them, but...

It’s also because Chen Xiaoyi didn’t assert herself; couldn’t even wear a jacket properly, what else could she do?

”Mu has worn JY brand for years; how could he easily switch? Chen Xiaoyi thinks everything’s effortless, but how could Mu not see through her?”

Xi Meng talked about it, her usually composed demeanor now showing traces of disdain.

”That’s what you think? You’re saying Mu doesn’t actually want to give her a chance?”

”After years with Xiaomei, if parted for a year, could you immediately let go of those habits and let another woman meddle?”

Xi Meng didn’t answer directly, posing him a question instead.

Zhao Huai pondered with a frown.

”Exactly! Even you can’t manage it. Mu and Qin Mu have nearly thirty years together; the bond of childhood friendship aside, those shared habits, how could they change easily?”

Xi Meng articulated her point thoroughly, making Zhao Huai chuckle: ”I found you’re surprisingly more informed about their marriage than I am.”

”Us women are inherently sensitive; I simply observe more than you do. Men might know more about other matters, but when it comes to relationships, there’s nothing too surprising here.”
