His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2205: Chapter 641: One Year Later (18) - This Day That Year (Second Update)_3

As she spoke, she slapped her own shoulder hard, then put on her coat.

Mu Yichen, however, just stood there without moving, only looking at how she was forcing him away like he was the plague, and couldn’t help but chuckle.

This wasn’t the first time their family had spent Christmas in Paris, it’s just that this time the place they chose was different from before.

”Mom, I want to ride the carriage!”

”Me too!”

The siblings quickly ran to Qin Mu’s side and pointed at the carriage circling around nearby as they spoke to her.

Qin Mu glanced over there. ”We’ve actually ridden it before... alright then!”

There was no helping it. The four of them, just like that, got onto the carriage.

This Christmas Eve wasn’t too cold yet. Even though it was snowing, Qin Mu and Mu Yichen sat opposite each other, Huanhuan sat with Qin Mu, Chengcheng sat with Mu Yichen. Every time Qin Mu lifted her eyes she would see Mu Yichen, so she shifted her gaze away to somewhere else. Mu Yichen, on the other hand, didn’t care and kept looking at her as usual.

Later, Chengcheng fell asleep lying on Mu Yichen’s legs. When they got off the carriage, Mu Yichen carried Chengcheng to the nearby parking lot. Qin Mu and Huanhuan were a few steps slower. By the time they walked over, Mu Yichen had already put Chengcheng into his own car.

Qin Mu felt a bit unwilling. Mu Yichen turned and saw her, and asked coolly, ”The address.”

Qin Mu didn’t want to tell him. Huanhuan glanced at Qin Mu, then at her dad. ”Dad, just follow the car me and Mom are in!”

”Alright.”

Mu Yichen agreed, then watched Qin Mu being unwillingly dragged away by Huanhuan.

After this night, Qin Mu naturally knew that these two siblings still hoped she and Mu Yichen could be together, that the four of them as a family wouldn’t separate. But that was already impossible, and she couldn’t help feeling a bit sad.

”Huanhuan!”

Qin Mu suddenly called to the girl in the back. Huanhuan had been playing with her phone.

”Hm?”

The one suddenly called raised her head and looked to the front.

”If Mom fell in love with another uncle, would you be mad?”

Qin Mu asked.

Huanhuan didn’t answer for a long time. Instead she got up from her seat and leaned over the back of the driver’s seat, hugging her mom from behind. ”Mom, have you fallen for another uncle? Is that uncle as handsome as Dad?”

Qin Mu smiled a little. Seeing her so nervous, she said with a smile, ”No, Mom is just asking casually. After all, in the end, Dad and Mom are both going to be with other people again.”

”Oh. I don’t like that.”

Huanhuan’s mood suddenly dipped. After she sat back down, she admitted this sullenly to Qin Mu, then stopped talking.

When they arrived at the villa, Qin Mu got out of the car and Mu Yichen was already out holding the sleeping Chengcheng. Huanhuan had gone in by herself. Qin Mu stood at the door and reached out to take the little son asleep in his arms, but Mu Yichen shot her a cold sidelong glance. ”What are you afraid of?”

”I’m not afraid of anything.”

Qin Mu, feeling guilty, shot back immediately.

”Then what are you doing blocking the way here?”

Mu Yichen asked again coldly. Qin Mu didn’t know why, but she suddenly lowered her eyes, then numbly shifted aside.

Mu Yichen carried the child upstairs. Huanhuan pointed to her brother’s room. Mu Yichen laid Chengcheng on the bed, tucked him in, then turned around and saw Huanhuan standing gloomily at the door.

”Dad, I don’t want you and Mom to start other families again!”

As he walked out, Huanhuan suddenly flung herself over and wrapped her arms around his leg, wronged yet stubbornly telling him this.

Mu Yichen didn’t speak, he only looked toward the doorway, his gaze incomparably cold and sharp.

When Mu Yichen came downstairs, ten minutes had already passed. Qin Mu had just poured herself a glass of red wine in the kitchen. Hearing footsteps, she drained the rest of the wine in one big gulp, quickly wiped her mouth, and walked out.

”You’re leaving? I’ll drive you.”

Qin Mu couldn’t bring herself to smile, so she only kept her voice politely controlled.

Mu Yichen just looked at her with disappointment. Qin Mu was slightly puzzled and used her eyes to ask why he was looking at her like that.

”What did you say to Huanhuan?”

Mu Yichen questioned in a cold voice.

Qin Mu...

Mu Yichen grew even more upset. Looking at her eyes that were as calm as the sea, he kept feeling that she was living too comfortably. And what did that make him?

”I just asked her if one day we both started new families, would she be unhappy. That’s all. What about it?”

Seeing the way he looked at her as if he hated her to the bone, Qin Mu suddenly got angry too and blurted out a retort.

”What about it? Did you really have to say something that cruel to a child?”

Mu Yichen suddenly grabbed her wrist agitatedly, and in one step forced himself in front of her, confronting her coldly.

”You’re the one who brought someone back home, and you’re yelling at me here?”

Qin Mu’s gaze grew desolate bit by bit, yet also incomparably firm. She stared straight at him and shot back.

”I told you, that was Mom’s idea. It had nothing to do with me!”

Mu Yichen didn’t let go of her, his expression growing even more severe.

”Don’t give me that. Since when have you been so obedient to your mom? You two out there... Her coming to Paris with you was your mom’s idea too, is that it? What a joke!”

Qin Mu’s anger surged up. She wanted to ask him if him fooling around outside with Chen Xiaoyi was also Feng Fanghua’s idea, but the last shred of rationality kept her from saying it out loud.

Because she felt that if she said those things, she would be like some woman drowned in jealousy.

”You’re jealous.”

His cold, hard voice left no room for doubt as he pointed it out to her.

”I am not.”

Qin Mu’s voice was sonorous and forceful in her resistance.

”You’re jealous.”

”I am not!”

Qin Mu shouted, unable to shake him off, so she used her other hand to shove him. But both wrists were held tight in his grip. She could only glare at him furiously, yet could do nothing.

Not that she could do nothing—she suddenly thought of something, then lifted her leg and kicked hard at the side of his knee.

Mu Yichen didn’t even budge. He just stubbornly stared straight at her, waiting for her to back down.

It wasn’t until the phone in Mu Yichen’s pocket suddenly rang that, finally, in the vast space, there was a sliver of chance to breathe.

Qin Mu’s hateful gaze did not leave him until he unwillingly let go of her, took out his phone, and walked outside.

Qin Mu suddenly felt like all the strength had been drained from her by someone, slumping there and almost losing her balance.

On this day, all those years ago, the two of them had Huanhuan.
