His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2202: Chapter 640: One Year Later (17) Do You Miss Her? (3)

Xi Meng listened to their questions and shook her head helplessly: ”Sometimes what you see with your eyes might not be the truth. Mu always has deep thoughts, can we really, as his subordinates, grasp them?”

The three girls exchanged glances, becoming even more curious.

”But you’re always around the boss, haven’t you noticed anything at all?”

”It’s not that I haven’t noticed anything at all. For instance, the other day when Miss Chen brought pastries to Mu, he ate one in front of her, but after she left, he gave the rest to me.”

Xi Meng thought for a while and continued.

The three girls suddenly looked at each other in dismay.

The girls who regularly watch palace dramas instantly understood Xi Meng’s implication—clearly, their boss didn’t really like Miss Chen, otherwise, how could he bear to give away the pastries his beloved woman brought?

”It’s one thing for you to ask me, but don’t go spreading this around, especially if it reaches the boss or Miss Chen’s ears...”

Xi Meng gave them all a sharp look and kindly reminded them.

The three girls were several years younger than her, but they listened to her words attentively, nodding their heads in assurance.

The three girls contemplated some more questions they had but ultimately didn’t ask. After all, matters concerning the boss’s love life weren’t their place to speculate on. They should just focus on their meals, work well, tidy up properly, and secretly gossip in private.

Huanhuan and Chengcheng video-called Qin Mu after school in the afternoon; Feng Fanghua sat at a distance on the sofa, not raising her eyes, but believing that Qin Mu could see her face.

Huanhuan and Chengcheng heard it was snowing in Paris, and they were very excited, as if they couldn’t wait to see the snow.

Knowing the kids were coming, Qin Mu wanted to buy a huge Christmas tree, but then thought, isn’t there already one at Mu’s villa?

That afternoon, she drove herself towards the villa, but the closer she got, the more uneasy she felt for some reason, and in the end, she returned to the city center after nightfall.

She chose a Christmas tree at the store, and the clerk fit it snugly into the trunk.

Thinking of last Christmas when she was still alone, maybe that’s no longer necessary in the future, she couldn’t help but feel a bit happy.

She placed the Christmas tree perfectly by the wall upon entering the home, hanging many ornaments, and Qin Mu looked up at the top of the tree, where the silver star was the most unique.

But in this world, the most unique things are often the loneliest.

Like these pretty little objects crowding the body of the Christmas tree, while that star can only hang alone at the top, as if the wind could blow it down, shatter it completely, never able to form again.

The phone on the ground started ringing, she glanced down and bent her sore old back to pick it up, it was a colleague’s call, she answered.

”You guys are going out for drinks? I won’t go today! Have fun!”

Qin Mu listened to the invitation, perhaps because her son and daughter were coming, she suddenly lost the desire to roam outside.

Sometimes when she couldn’t sleep at night, she craved a companion to go out drinking. Although not a heavy drinker, having a few drinks occasionally at those places of intoxication made her mind feel empty, as if all her thoughts were drawn out by something, floating along, and that feeling was quite nice.

If only there was a cigarette.

That day, Chengcheng and Huanhuan dressed up themselves, then happily boarded Mu Yichen’s private plane.

However, the atmosphere on the plane wasn’t very pleasant; the sisters seemed innocent, but had some hidden thoughts.

Chen Xiaoyi was sitting opposite them, still taking soft selfies, and they mischievously made faces in her camera.

Seeing her about to drink coffee, the two of them bumped into the coffee the staff had just brought to her, spilling it all over her beautiful dress.

Chen Xiaoyi winced from the heat, looking bewildered, while Huanhuan and Chengcheng quickly turned their backs as if they had just heard the coffee hit the ground: ”Miss Chen, are you okay?”

The two little ones didn’t call her aunt.

”Oh! I’m fine, I’m fine!”

Chen Xiaoyi said hurriedly, getting up to go to the bathroom.

They immediately high-fived, as if they had accomplished a big task together.

Qin Mu went to the supermarket early that day, buying many ingredients, even though unsure if she’d use them. She planned to take the siblings out to eat directly but just in case...

She also picked out some trinkets; this was their first visit since she moved, and just thinking of it made Qin Mu a bit excited, her feet felt like they were on clouds, soft and fluffy, yet sometimes rolling along like beneath the wheels of a bicycle, as if swept by wind.

She bought fruit that was hard to find in Rongcheng, looking at the shopping cart filled to the brim, she couldn’t help thinking that during her year in Paris, she hadn’t bought this much all at once, her mood began to soar.

Around four in the afternoon, Qin Mu was anxiously waiting at the airport reception. A pair of black sunglasses covered half of her delicate face, a simple earthy-colored coat hung shoulder-length down to her knees, and plain black high heels comfortably on her feet, making her look even taller and slimmer.

”Mom!”

”Mom!”

Soon, the two little ones came out from the VIP channel, and as they saw Qin Mu from afar, they couldn’t help but energetically wave their hands and run towards her.

Hearing the voices, Qin Mu instinctively removed her glasses, slipping them into her pocket, a smile already hiding her face.

They wore winter hats she bought, though plain, looking wonderful atop their heads, Qin Mu stepped forward, squatted, giving them a big hug.

”Mom, we really missed you!”

”Me too! I missed you both so much!”

Qin Mu embraced them, looking from one to the other, her emotions naturally bubbling up.

Then Huanhuan suddenly whispered something in her ear, causing Qin Mu’s smile to fade a little, but the joy of seeing her children was undeniable. Feeling someone approaching, she stood up while holding Chengcheng and Huanhuan’s hands, lifting her eyes and smiling gracefully at the person in front: ”Long time no see!”
