His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2214: Chapter 644: Nurturing the Relationship (21) (Second Update)_3

Unexpectedly, Zhao Huai suddenly stopped: ”Then, I’ll not go in and disturb you, right?”

”You’ve never been this perceptive before.”

Mu Yichen glanced coldly at him before continuing inside.

Zhao Huai paused, looked at Xi Meng: ”He’s letting me in.”

Xi Meng shrugged, indicating yes.

Xi Meng also wanted Zhao Huai to go in—what’s the harm in disturbing them—it was outrageous how this woman frequently visited their office building and entered Mu Yichen’s office when he wasn’t there, completely treating herself like an insider.

As for the clothes she bought abroad, Xi Meng thought Mu Yichen surely wouldn’t approve.

After all, Qin Mu’s design talent was undisputable, and Mu Yichen’s taste was always Qin Mu’s; no matter how good or unique clothes designed by others were, he’d likely not appreciate them.

Some things can be tolerated, some can be compromised, but when it comes to what’s worn on the body—intimately—Xi Meng thought, Mu Yichen definitely wouldn’t wear them.

Chen Xiaoyi was flipping through fashion magazines in his office, about to see the page about Qin Mu, but upon hearing the door open, she immediately put down the magazine and looked up at the person coming in: ”You’re back!”

She stood up with a bright smile to greet him.

”How did you find this place?”

Mu Yichen asked indifferently, though there was a faint smile on his face.

Zhao Huai followed behind, lightly coughed to signal his presence.

Chen Xiaoyi’s hand was just about to touch Mu Yichen’s arm, but hearing the cough, somehow lost the courage and stood softly at the side: ”I asked Auntie for your clothing size a few days ago since a friend went abroad. I had her bring back a few pieces of clothing for you, all limited edition suits by top international designers. As soon as they arrived, I brought them over for you to try on.”

While speaking of trying them on, she glanced at Zhao Huai.

”Just pretend I’m not here!”

Zhao Huai said cheerfully, lowering his head and walking to sit on the sofa, thinking Miss Chen was really considerate and thoughtful, no wonder the Mu Family matriarch admired her.

”That’s good; Mr. Zhao can help give some advice!”

Chen Xiaoyi smiled as she spoke to him, still so gentle.

Zhao Huai found the ”Mr. Zhao” appellation grating, though he thought Qin Mu, despite being younger, always called him Zhao Huai, which he found comforting. However, since Qin Mu counted as an insider, Chen Xiaoyi calling him Mr. Zhao didn’t bother him much.

It was Mu Yichen who chuckled lightly: ”Mr. Zhao, Mr. Zhao’s eye for fashion might not be very discerning.”

Mu Yichen said while removing his jacket and casually tossing it onto the sofa. Chen Xiaoyi had already taken the suit from the box—it was deep blue.

Mu Yichen glanced at it, his brow furrowed slightly, but only for a second or two.

Chen Xiaoyi walked behind him to help spread open his jacket. Mu Yichen tried it on but only managed to put one sleeve on. As Chen Xiaoyi helped with the other side, her grip slipped, and the clothing fell to the ground.

Chen Xiaoyi’s heart trembled; she was about to bend down to pick it up when Mu Yichen looked coldly at the conspicuous garment: ”This color suits Mr. Zhao, I’ll gift it to you!”

Mu Yichen suddenly said unexpectedly. Chen Xiaoyi quickly picked up the clothing from the floor. Leaving aside the worth of the clothing—several hundred thousand—it was her meticulous choice, painstakingly challenging, finally delivered to him thinking he’d wear it, only to have him give it to Zhao Huai with just a word.

”Are you really giving it to me? I’m not picky, but I’m afraid when my family sees it, they might think I’m betraying my old master or selling out for favor; perhaps it’s better to forget it. The color indeed doesn’t suit you. Miss Chen could gift it to your elder brother instead, it should fit well.”

Zhao Huai immediately sensed Mu Yichen’s intention, so he tactfully spoke these words.

The spacious office instantly felt a lot colder, Chen Xiaoyi holding the clothing gently asked: ”But I heard from Auntie that Young Master Chen likes blue clothing.”

”Miss Chen might not know, but our Young Master Chen does like blue clothes, but he prefers women wearing them for him to see, and not just any woman can please his eyes.”

Despite being in Mu Yichen’s presence, Zhao Huai spoke bluntly.

Chen Xiaoyi couldn’t help feeling hurt inside, her eyes brimming with tears, and she dared not say more, afraid anything she said would be wrong.

”What are you rambling about? Making no sense!”

Mu Yichen seemed to reprimand Zhao Huai with these words.

Zhao Huai raised his eyebrows but remained silent.

”Don’t listen to him; just because someone liked a color once, doesn’t mean they’ll like it forever. Since you’ve bought them, just leave them here.”

Mu Yichen glanced at Chen Xiaoyi’s pitiful appearance and spoke kindly to her.

Chen Xiaoyi felt slightly better and nodded: ”Shall I hang them in the closet in the lounge?”

”Alright!”

Mu Yichen agreed, so Chen Xiaoyi carried two clothing boxes into his lounge. Zhao Huai and Mu Yichen exchanged a glance, Mu Yichen blandly gazed at his desk, opening a document laid in front.

”You should head to Paris for a while.”

”To Paris? For what?”

”Natural business trip.”

Mu Yichen said, his quick glance turned toward the lounge.

Zhao Huai also took a look, then nodded: ”Alright!”

Inside, Chen Xiaoyi felt heartbroken, realizing Mu Yichen’s persistent affection for Qin Mu, but after such humiliation amidst her reflections, she thought she must endure this to ever await the springtime; hence, she bore it.

Only when she opened the clothing and swung open the closet door did she discover even there, there were two sets of women’s clothing, clearly recognizing the color and style as belonging to someone.

The humiliation intensified for Chen Xiaoyi, her face unable to hide the grievance, yet she quickly convinced herself, turned to hang the clothing inside.

When she came out, thinking Zhao Huai had left, instead found him sipping tea with Mu Yichen, she stepped forward: ”Mr. Zhao is still here.”

”Yes! I’m having lunch with Brother Chen and a client; do you find me a bit of a nuisance?”

Zhao Huai chuckled foolishly, seemingly awkward yet not leaving.

”How could it be, you all have business matters, I’ll head off then! Young Master Chen, will you be home for dinner tonight? I’ve learned two new dishes I want to cook for you.”

Chen Xiaoyi picked up her bag to leave but couldn’t resist asking him more.

Always feeling she’s hardly said a few words, none of which were spoken properly.

”I suppose so! Cooking is for the servants, you don’t need to go to such dirty places as the kitchen.”

Mu Yichen chuckled lightly, his detached gaze upon her, yet his voice very pleasant.
