His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2239: Chapter 652: One Year Later (29) — How Is the War Going? (2)

Mu Yichen had not returned for a long time. This time he suddenly came back, even driving Qin Mu’s car. Feng Fanghua pretended to be leisurely, just sipping tea on the sofa, not rushing to look up warmly at her son.

”It seems like Dad and Grandpa were sent away by you!”

Mu Yichen glanced around, then sat on the sofa and spoke slowly.

Feng Fanghua laughed contemptuously, quite coldly: ”Mu, you really are smart, figuring out at a glance that I sent them away. But I wonder what your intention is by coming back in ’that car’?”

Mu Yichen smiled faintly: ”Don’t overthink it. I’m not here to make accusations, just to take the siblings back.”

”Back? Which of the two haven’t grown up by my side? You say you’ll take them away just like that?”

She had just spent enough time with the siblings, coaxed them to nap, and now someone’s here to fight her.

”You know, with the current situation, the siblings are not suitable to be by your side.”

Mu Yichen remained patient; although his face showed indifference, he wouldn’t be too cold since she was his elder.

”Not suitable? Then tell me, when will it be suitable? When you and Qin Mu reconcile and return to how you were? Don’t blame me for reminding you, this morning she clearly told me she has no intention of reconciling with you and resents your refusal to divorce. Mu Yichen, if you have any self-respect, start fresh instead of hanging yourself on a tree that doesn’t esteem you.”

The more Feng Fanghua thought, the angrier she got, and likewise as she spoke.

Mu Yichen’s face finally darkened, and his pitch-black eyes seemed menacing.

But he stopped looking at his mother.

Most of his mother’s words were meant to provoke him. Of course, he believed Qin Mu might say so.

Just like years ago, when Feng Fanghua told her to leave, she left without looking back, unwilling to stay even for a minute longer.

Unless her heart is moved, unless she determines someone’s worth, no one can force her to stay.

Mu Yichen looked at the vast first floor. After not returning for a few days, it suddenly felt empty and somewhat chilly.

”If you want to keep the siblings, that’s fine. I happen to have other matters to attend to.”

Mu Yichen thought for a moment and suddenly said this.

Feng Fanghua looked at him in surprise, but he stood up: ”Then I’ll leave first. I’ll speak to them later.”

”What?”

Feng Fanghua looked at him in confusion.

”Just remember, children’s hearts won’t tolerate their parents being humiliated. Please show some restraint in your words as a way to ensure your grandchildren can stay by your side.”

Yichen left these final words before departing, while Feng Fanghua sat in the soft, wide sofa, suddenly unable to say a word, simply realizing she couldn’t see her son or anything clearly before her at some point.

Qin Mu was waiting with Xiang Hang at the door. It had only been less than half an hour when the car came out again.

Qin Mu thought he had successfully picked up their son and daughter, believing he had that capability. But as she approached the car, despite not seeing clearly, she could tell it was empty inside.

Qin Mu got into the car: ”Where are the siblings?”

”They’re asleep; it’s inconvenient to pick them up now.”

Mu Yichen replied blandly and drove away.

Qin Mu’s heart was worried, unconsciously observing him and scrutinizing him all the way back to the apartment.

Arriving downstairs at the apartment, they got out of the car. It was already sunset after a whole day of driving back and forth.

Qin Mu followed him back into the apartment, gently closing the door, trailing slowly behind him until he sat down on the sofa while she remained standing.

”Is it because Mom won’t let them come back?”

”What did you say to Mom?”

Mu Yichen didn’t answer her, just looked up at her irritably, stared straight at her, questioning her.

Qin Mu was bewildered by his question: ”What did I say? I answered whatever she asked.”

”Do you think it’s me holding back and not wanting the divorce?”

Mu Yichen asked again.

Qin Mu’s heart sank with a thud, feeling something was wrong, instinctively stepping back, her eyes unable to avoid his icy gaze.

The apartment suddenly felt a bit gloomy, as Qin Mu glanced up, seeing the red sky reflected by the sunset, realizing she should leave.

If she didn’t leave, they’d end up fighting.

Ever since they separated, she no longer wanted to argue with him. Every time her heart was anxious to fight, she tried to suppress it as much as possible. If she couldn’t, she’d feign weakness to ensure he wouldn’t tear her apart.
