His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2213: Chapter 644: A Year Later (21) Nurturing the Relationship (Second Update)_2

When she left, she didn’t take anything with her. She wasn’t deliberately leaving things for him to look at and reminisce; he knew she found it troublesome. She’s always been like that since she was young. Even when traveling, she’d never bring more than necessary. Though he would verbally complain about her not tidying up, deep down, he wasn’t bothered at all.

But now, everything was gone.

No matter how turbulent or angry he felt inside, he couldn’t let it show or act on it.

Feng Fanghua was downstairs drinking tea, waiting for him to come down to confront her, but he never came.

However, for some reason, she couldn’t stop her eyes from becoming a bit moist.

Feng Fanghua knew she had pushed him too far and hurt him. He could endure it, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t affected.

A mother wielding a knife against her own son — Feng Fanghua finally couldn’t hold back, tears streaming down her face as she sighed heavily while sitting there, then went upstairs.

Mu Yichen, dressed in light-colored pajamas, was slouched on the sofa smoking a cigarette, his brow furrowed, his eyes hollow from not feeling anything.

He heard the knock on the door but didn’t move.

Feng Fanghua pushed the door open herself. The room was completely dark, but she saw a faint red glow from the sofa and reached to turn on the light.

The lights came on, and Mu Yichen briefly closed his eyes.

Feng Fanghua stepped forward: ”Yichen!”

”Was this your decision?”

Mu Yichen asked indifferently, lowering his head, the hand holding the cigarette gently rubbed his brow.

”Yes! Now that you’re with Chen Xiaoyi, it’s not suitable to keep Qin Mu’s things at home anymore. Yichen, you can blame me, but don’t keep it inside and suffer, okay?”

Feng Fanghua sat beside him, looking at her son with love, somewhat helpless.

”Mom! I’m not a child anymore!”

He turned his head, suddenly smiling.

Feng Fanghua was momentarily caught off guard by his thoughts and dared not say anything more.

Mu Yichen chuckled and said, ”I should’ve listened to you when I was younger. Why did I run off to Paris to be with her? After so many years, she turned out to be ungrateful.”

Feng Fanghua felt a sharp pang in her heart even though her son smiled and apologized; it made her sad.

”Yichen...”

”You should go rest; don’t worry about me. Since I’ve decided to start anew with Chen Xiaoyi, I will take good care of this relationship.”

Mu Yichen assured her with a calm voice.

Feng Fanghua suddenly thought maybe he truly had come to terms with it. Considering his long-standing feelings for Qin Mu, it’s understandable that he would still be somewhat sad now. So she nodded: ”Alright! Since you say so, I know what to do now. In the future, I’ll support you both. Even though currently you don’t have feelings for her, I believe that she is so sweet that once you two are married and have a child, your emotions will grow deeper over time.”

Mu Yichen didn’t respond this time, just lowered his head and smiled.

Have a child?

Deep emotions?

That’s a bit of a fantasy, isn’t it?

Feng Fanghua realized it was too early to say such things, seeing that he didn’t want to be disturbed, she got up: ”Then I’ll return to my room; you should get some rest too.”

”Hmm!”

He continued to lean against the sofa, holding a cigarette but refraining from smoking it, not wanting to appear as a heavy smoker in front of his elder, and his remaining rationality wouldn’t allow him to.

Unable to sleep that night, he called Jing Feng to go out for drinks. Jing Feng mentioned that Qin Mu’s assistant might be pursuing her.

Mu Yichen said it had nothing to do with him anymore.

A week later, Chen Xiaoyi arrived at Mu Yichen’s office building with two boxes during his meeting. Xi Meng was upstairs handling documents and paused at the sight of Chen Xiaoyi, then politely greeted: ”Miss Chen is here!”

”Is Mr. Mu around?”

Chen Xiaoyi followed Xi Meng in calling him Mr. Mu.

”Mr. Mu is in a meeting. Would you like to wait here for him?”

Xi Meng asked courteously.

”Yes! I selected a few outfits overseas for him, so he can try them on once he’s back. If they don’t fit, I can exchange them.”

Chen Xiaoyi slightly raised the boxes in her hands, unable to lift them too high because they were heavy.

Xi Meng just looked straight at her, then offered a professional smile.

Chen Xiaoyi went to his office to wait for him, while Xi Meng continued working outside. Mu Yichen came up with Zhao Huai, and Xi Meng stood as they arrived: ”Mr. Mu, Miss Chen is in the office.”

Mu Yichen glanced at her, his expression having been solemn as of late.
