His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2219: Chapter 646: A Year Later (23) Failed Gift Delivery_2

Feng Fanghua wiped her tears and lifted her head to look at him, and just thinking about it made her heart ache terribly.

”If Qin Mu were that kind of child, would she have left the siblings in the Mu Family?”

Mu Zihao was, of course, rational. Looking at everything that had happened over the past year, even though he didn’t butt in, he knew what Qin Mu had cut off in exchange for peace in the Mu Family.

”But if it wasn’t her, who else could it be?”

Feng Fanghua was also annoyed, so annoyed that she couldn’t think anything through.

”Huanhuan is grown now and has her own opinions. She said those things to you because she’s always been too dependent on you, trusted you too much. How could she have ever imagined that one day you and her mother would end your mother-in-law–daughter-in-law relationship? How could she know that you only dote on your own son, and that you didn’t intentionally ignore her mom?”

Mu Zihao gently explained it to her, and Feng Fanghua gradually calmed down.

——

That day, Qin Mu received a delivery from back home.

When several boxes were piled up at her door, almost taller than her, she was a bit puzzled. Only when she was signing and glanced at the sender’s address, and saw the character ”Mu,” did she suddenly understand.

She signed without showing any emotion, thanked the courier, and just by looking at those boxes, she already knew what they were.

Sending them from so far away, the shipping must’ve cost a fortune!

For a moment Qin Mu didn’t have any particular feelings about it, until she heard someone ask her in English if she needed help.

”Thanks! No need!”

Qin Mu snapped back to herself, thanked him, and under his doubtful gaze—clearly not sure she could move them in alone—she repeatedly used her eyes to insist she could.

After the courier left, she began hauling the boxes inside, but later she thought, what difference would it make even if she moved them in?

Exhausted to the point of collapse, she finally managed to move all the boxes inside.

She opened them one by one; they were all her clothes.

If it weren’t for this upheaval, she wouldn’t even have realized she had that many clothes. No wonder Mu Yichen would get annoyed and scold her.

Qin Mu lay on the boxes, staring at the clothes she’d torn out, but her thoughts drifted far, far away.

Come to think of it, she really should go back to the country once.

Maybe the Chen Family and the Mu Family were already in a hurry about that engagement. Even though Mu Yichen wasn’t rushing her, if she still didn’t go back to get divorced, she’d probably be holding them up.

After all, they were all getting on in years. Was Feng Fanghua perhaps already hoping that Chen Xiaoyi could give the Mu Family another little baby?

After all, when she was in the Mu Family, Feng Fanghua had already hinted that she wanted her to have another one.

Just as she was thinking this, a familiar number popped up on her phone.

After coming to Paris, she’d changed her number, but because of Chengcheng and Huanhuan, she’d stayed in contact with the Mu Family. Seeing Feng Fanghua’s number, she only paused for two seconds before picking up.

”Hello? Mom!”

Qin Mu called her that instinctively.

”Since you two are over, you don’t need to call me Mom anymore.”

Feng Fanghua’s voice was so resolute, her manner so cold; even though Qin Mu wasn’t standing in front of her, she had long since experienced it firsthand.

”Alright, Mrs. Mu. Then, calling me now—did something happen with the two kids?”

”Your grandpa Huanhuan and I have been thinking it over. Before the end of the year, we plan to have the two of them set their marriage date. Now I’m asking you: have you two actually divorced or not?”

Feng Fanghua asked with full justification. Naturally, as the matriarch of the Mu Family, she had been rock-solid in everything all these years.

”I can go back as soon as possible and handle the divorce procedures with Mu Yichen.”

Qin Mu knew very well what Feng Fanghua meant. She had just been thinking about the divorce herself, so she answered immediately.

”Since you say so, I’ll believe you. You can call Yichen yourself. This matter is better done sooner rather than later—consider it my request. And another thing: when you come back to Rongcheng this time, I don’t want you to see Huanhuan or Chengcheng. I hope you can agree to that.”

Qin Mu agreed, but after she hung up, she felt uneasy. She didn’t know why; she just had the feeling something had happened.

Otherwise, why would Feng Fanghua suddenly call her with such finality?

It should already be nighttime in Rongcheng. He probably wouldn’t be busy at this hour. Qin Mu thought for a moment, then called him, her hand resting on the box, unconsciously tapping it on and off because she was preoccupied.

”Hello?”

Mu Yichen picked up very late. Qin Mu could hear some noise in the background, but his voice came through crystal clear to her, and her heartbeat unconsciously skipped half a beat.

”It’s Qin Mu. When are you free in the next few days? I’ll come back to handle the divorce procedures with you.”
