His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2228: Chapter 649: A Year Later (26) Legal Knowledge_2

After the aunt finished making lunch, she left. The three men in the house were about to eat in the dining room when Qin Mu ran out. After thinking it over again and again, she still wanted to ask the aunt to keep her secret.

”Don’t worry, I won’t say a word when I get back.”

Who knew, before she even said anything, the aunt had already understood. She patted Qin Mu’s hand kindly and said softly.

Qin Mu’s eyes suddenly grew a little misty, and she didn’t even know how to thank her.

She watched the aunt walk farther and farther away, one hand resting on the doorframe as she stood at the door for a long time. Only when she felt her tears about to fall did she go back inside and close the door.

”Daddy, so you went out early in the morning to pick Mommy up!”

Huanhuan ate with especially big bites; her happiness couldn’t be hidden no matter what.

”This is such a super big surprise!”

Chengcheng laughed too, taking big bites of the chicken drumstick the aunt had cooked.

Mu Yichen lifted his eyes slightly but didn’t speak, because as soon as he looked up he saw Qin Mu already walking in, so he lowered his head again and continued eating.

”What super big surprise?”

Qin Mu only caught that one sentence from Chengcheng and asked curiously as she sat down.

”Nothing!”

Chengcheng hurriedly shook his head, and Huanhuan shook hers too, but both their eyes were curved with smiles. Qin Mu guessed it had something to do with her, but she didn’t press them and started eating.

Mu Yichen watched her eat very delicately. Thinking about how these past two days she’d been on a plane and then with him, she probably hadn’t really eaten properly, but still...

There was clearly someone by her side who had almost died of stomach cancer, and she still didn’t know how to cherish her body?

”Mommy, are you going to stay and spend the whole holiday with us?”

Huanhuan asked her curiously.

”Then this afternoon we’ll have someone to keep us company, right? Will Mommy take us out to play?”

Chengcheng got even more excited after hearing Huanhuan’s words.

”No problem!”

Qin Mu didn’t turn them down; she was free anyway.

”Yay!”

Once Qin Mu agreed, the siblings happily put down their chopsticks and high‑fived.

Mu Yichen quietly ate the lunch the aunt had prepared and never joined in the chatter of the mother and her two kids.

”Daddy, do you still have to work this afternoon? Do you want to join us?”

As soon as Huanhuan finished eating, she wanted to go out and play. After putting down her bowl and chopsticks, she was about to go upstairs to change clothes, but then she thought that if Daddy came along too, it would be perfect.

”Of course your daddy has to work. This afternoon Mommy will take you to your auntie’s place, so stop bothering your daddy.”

Hearing this, Qin Mu lifted her eyes slightly and gently explained to Huanhuan.

”Oh!”

Huanhuan didn’t mind; as long as there was food and drink, she was fine.

”Mu Chenghuan, go take a nap with your brother first. You’re only allowed to go out after three o’clock.”

Mu Yichen finally spoke. But as soon as he did, the mother and her two kids turned their heads toward him in unison.

They could only go out after three in the afternoon? And they had to nap?

”Daddy, you know taking a nap is the most boring and time‑wasting thing ever.”

Huanhuan’s shoulders suddenly slumped as she complained to Mu Yichen in a coquettish tone, pleading with him.

But the inky blackness of Mu Yichen’s gaze already proved that he was dead set on making the siblings take a nap.

Qin Mu didn’t want to interfere with his way of raising the children. Only after Chengcheng and Huanhuan left the dining room with sighs did she quietly ask him, ”You’re really making them nap in this dead of winter? If we wait until three to go out, it’ll be dark again by five, and they’ll hardly get to play!”

Although Qin Mu’s voice was soft, Mu Yichen still heard the protest in it. He just gave a faint smile, his devilish eyes half‑narrowed. ”Why don’t you handle them, then?”

Qin Mu...

”Then I...”

Since she couldn’t manage the kids, but she herself was a free person, she was about to suggest going out later.

”Aren’t you tired?”

Mu Yichen asked her.

Qin Mu nodded, her long eyelashes fluttering.

”The house hasn’t been properly cleaned in days. Since you’re not tired, go ahead and do some cleaning.”

Mu Yichen suddenly said, finishing the last bite of rice in his bowl. Then he pushed the bowl toward the center of the table and looked at her with a smile.

Qin Mu saw the look in his eyes; it was like he was watching, waiting for something.

Only, what exactly was he waiting to see?

Qin Mu almost suspected that not only were her ears malfunctioning, but her brain was also hallucinating.

Mu Yichen was making her do the cleaning, even clear the table?

You had to know, he’d hardly ever asked her to do this kind of work since they were young. This sudden...

”What’s wrong? Didn’t you say you’re not tired?”

”I suddenly feel a little tired again! How about I go upstairs and lie down for a while first? I’m suddenly feeling a bit sleepy!”

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered as she slowly stood up.

Mu Yichen’s pitch‑black, eagle‑like eyes watched the caution on her face and the playful glint in her gaze, but he just sat there deeply, saying nothing.

Qin Mu lifted her eyes slightly. She felt that if she looked at him any longer, she’d get sucked right into his gaze, so she hurriedly pretended he had already agreed and slipped away, raising her voice as she made her escape.
