Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 282: Chapter 255: Are You Teaching Me How to Do Things?

After asking this question, Liu Kexin became a bit nervous.

She really wanted to know what Lu Li had been doing during his week-long disappearance.

Or rather, she wanted to know not just what Lu Li had been up to this time, but also about his ’true identity’.

This curious thought had been lingering in Liu Kexin’s mind for a long time.

For instance, when they went to Shanghai to buy a mansion last time, she had probed about it, but Lu Li brushed it off with jokes.

Liu Kexin still remembered how Lu Li had coaxed her at that time.

Lu Li had said this: ”The world’s most handsome ancestor, who discovered a physicist who might change the particles of human civilization, and still your most beloved man.”

Liu Kexin believed part of these words.

For example, being the world’s most handsome and her most beloved man.

In her eyes, no man in the world was more handsome than Lu Li.

Similarly, she truly hadn’t loved any man this way growing up.

Apart from these aspects, she really couldn’t bring herself to believe the rest.

Take the ”physicist who might change the particles of human civilization” for instance.

Liu Kexin had never seen Lu Li engage in anything related to physics, so how could she believe it?

Naturally, she wanted to seize this opportunity to ask Lu Li what he did this time, and then extend the conversation to inquire about his hidden ’true identity’.

Lu Li chuckled slightly and said, ”What could I possibly have been doing? Just went abroad for a bit, hey, some things can’t be explained over the phone; if you really want to know, we can talk slowly when we meet.”

Liu Kexin’s eyes lit up as she said, ”Are you saying you’ll tell me when we meet?”

Lu Li’s tone was elusive, ”Let’s talk about it when we meet.”

Liu Kexin could only reply, ”Alright.”

She also asked Lu Li what he wanted to eat or the like, wanting to have Aunt Huang prepare it.

Before long, they hung up the phone.

”Will he be willing to tell me later?”

Liu Kexin propped her chin up with one hand, lost in wild thoughts.

While pondering, the phone rang once more.

Liu Kexin saw it was her brother calling and answered without much thought.

Liu Ke Ping immediately said, ”Kexin, come back to Diamond Home, Dad has come, he wants to see you.”

Upon hearing this, Liu Kexin’s heart suddenly thumped.

Dad’s here?

He wants me to go see him?

Her face turned very unpleasant.

Liu Kexin knew exactly why her dad came, surely to bring her back.

Originally in a good mood because she knew Lu Li was coming back, Liu Kexin suddenly felt like something was strangling her neck, causing a suffocating sensation.

Despite her mood plunging into the abyss, Liu Kexin still replied calmly, ”Alright, I know, I’ll come back now.”

Liu Ke Ping acknowledged with an ”Mm” and then hung up the phone.

Liu Kexin thought for a moment and immediately sent a message to Lu Li: Lu Li, when you get back to Su City, don’t go to Diamond Home first.

Lu Li: ???

Liu Kexin: There are some things I can’t really explain to you, just don’t go there.

She didn’t tell Lu Li the reason because she wanted to protect him.

Liu Kexin knew her dad’s temper well and was afraid he’d vent his anger on Lu Li if he saw him.

Moreover, even if her dad didn’t lose his temper with Lu Li, she didn’t want Lu Li to endure this suffocating pressure with her.

Therefore, Liu Kexin told Lu Li not to go to Diamond Home after returning to Su City.

She planned to face her dad alone in negotiation.

If they could reach an agreement, that would be best.

But if they couldn’t, she’d rather give up everything to be with Lu Li.

Thinking of this, Liu Kexin’s gaze gradually became determined.

She tidied up her belongings, picked up her phone and small bag, stood up, and prepared to leave.

Ding dong, a message came in again.

Liu Kexin glanced down; it was from Lu Li again.

Lu Li: Is it because your dad came?

Liu Kexin didn’t expect Lu Li to have guessed it already.

She was so concerned about Lu Li, not wanting him to bear the pressure with her.

Thus, Liu Kexin outright denied: No, I’m planning to move. Just find a place to wait for me, I’ll come to you after work.

Lu Li seemingly didn’t think much and quickly replied: Okay.

Liu Kexin put her phone back in her small bag and walked out with unwavering steps.

At this moment, her determination matched her steady steps, terrifyingly strong!

...

In Diamond Home.

Father Liu sat on the couch boldly, giving his son a cold glance.

Liu Ke Ping sat on a nearby single sofa, his brows tightly knitted.

He took a deep breath and said, ”Dad, I called Kexin, can you promise me one thing?”

Father Liu coldly replied, ”I know what you want to say, and I can clearly tell you, I won’t agree to a single word you say!”

Liu Ke Ping laughed helplessly, ”Can’t you at least listen to what I have to say?”

Father Liu cast a sidelong glance, ”I don’t want to listen to your nonsense!”

”Dad!” Liu Ke Ping ignored whether his father wanted to listen or not, and continued speaking on his own, ”I think, in the short term, you better not think about bringing Kexin back...”

Father Liu squinted his eyes and interrupted, ”Are you teaching me how to handle things?”

Liu Ke Ping said helplessly, ”No, hey, let me finish first.”

Father Liu, clearly irritated, said, ”I said I don’t want to listen to your nonsense, why are you chattering endlessly?”

Liu Ke Ping got a bit anxious, ”Kexin’s boyfriend’s status isn’t that simple. If you insist on bringing her back, maybe...”

Father Liu widened his eyes and said, ”What do you mean it’s not simple? Even if his status is not simple, so what? Are you saying I can’t discipline my own daughter? What nonsense are you talking about? You’re a grown-up, yet you talk about whether something is simple or not all day long. Do you think your old man got scared easily?”

In his anger, he scolded his son harshly.

Father Liu spoke dismissively, but in reality, he paid no heed to his son’s warning about Lu Li’s status not being simple.

In his perspective, no matter how supposedly complex Lu Li’s status was, what difference would it make?

The main business of the Liu Family was in the Ugly Country; were they supposed to fear sanctions?

Moreover, before coming here, Father Liu actually did some groundwork.

He had someone roughly investigate Lu Li’s family background.

He knew Lu Li’s parents were ordinary people without any deep connections.

Because of this information, Father Liu was unwilling for his daughter to date Lu Li.

It’s not that he was snobbish, insisting that Lu Li’s family must have profound connections, but he was clear about one thing: his daughter had been pampered since childhood. Now, driven by love, she was willing to endure hardships, but what happens once the passion fades?

By then, the old man would surely cut off the financial resources, and Liu Kexin would regret it.

He was a typical daughter-loving father, of course, he didn’t want his daughter to suffer.

Father Liu didn’t have the courage given by Liang Jingru to challenge the authority of his own father.

Naturally, he wouldn’t listen to Liu Ke Ping’s ”surrender advice” no matter what.

Liu Ke Ping saw his father being so unreasonable and couldn’t say much more.

Besides, until now, he hadn’t figured out if Lu Li was that ancestor from Mexico, without confidence to argue with his dad.

Finally, Liu Ke Ping sat there in silence, frequently pulling out his phone to check if information about Lu Li had been emailed yet.

The two of them sat in silence, and neither of them spoke another word.

For a while, the atmosphere in the living room seemed to freeze, appearing so heavy and oppressive.

This situation lasted for over twenty minutes.

Until the sound of the door opening ”click” came from the entrance.

Both father and son looked up in unison.

They saw Liu Kexin, with a calm face, push open the door and walk in slowly.

Liu Kexin glanced towards the sofa, ”Dad, Brother.”

Liu Ke Ping gave a slight nod without saying a word.

When Father Liu saw his daughter, he immediately showed a smile, ”Kexin, why didn’t you answer my calls?”

Liu Kexin retorted with an annoyed face, ”You’re too bothersome, I didn’t want to answer.”

”I’m only concerned about you.” Father Liu continued to smile warmly, patting the seat beside him, ”Come, sit over here, let’s chat for a bit.”

With reluctance, Liu Kexin walked over and sat down.

Father Liu looked concerned, ”How have these past few months been in Huaxia?”

Liu Kexin replied expressionlessly, ”Pretty good. If there’s something to say, just say it directly, don’t pretend to care.”

Father Liu, speechless, said, ”Listen to what you’re saying. How does caring for you turn into hypocrisy? Sigh, you ungrateful daughter, you really make me sad.”

Liu Kexin gave a fake smile, ”Others may not know your character, but I do, don’t I? Leaving so many things at the company just to rush to Huaxia?”

Father Liu initially planned to play an emotional card; seeing his daughter unveil it, he grew tired of pretending.

He straightforwardly said, ”Indeed, I’m here this time...”

As he was speaking, Liu Ke Ping’s phone suddenly chimed.

Father Liu glanced at it and continued, ”I’m here this time to have a talk about Lu Li...”

Once again, he couldn’t finish his sentence as Liu Ke Ping suddenly spoke up, ”Kexin, could you go upstairs for a moment? I have something to discuss with Dad alone.”

Father Liu frowned, he didn’t have as good a temper with his son as with his daughter.

He directly scolded, ”Is this necessary? Can’t you see I’m talking to Kexin? Whatever it is, say it later, stop interrupting.”

Liu Ke Ping appeared quite helpless, ”Dad, I really have something important to discuss with you one-on-one.”

Father Liu, impatient, said, ”I don’t want to have a one-on-one talk with you, okay?”

Liu Ke Ping almost fainted from frustration and could only turn his gaze to his sister.

Liu Kexin understood and persuaded, ”Dad, maybe Brother really has something important to discuss. Can we finish talking about Lu Li afterward?”

Old Liu doted dearly on his daughter.

Seeing this, he reluctantly agreed, ”Alright, you go upstairs for a while. Once your brother and I finish talking, we’ll discuss Lu Li.”

Liu Kexin responded with a hmph, picked up her small bag, and headed upstairs.

Liu Ke Ping watched his sister until he was sure she had gone upstairs, then he took out his phone, with a very grave expression, ”Dad, I’ll show you some information. Once you see it, then decide whether to discuss Lu Li with Kexin.”

Father Liu asked casually, ”What information?”

Liu Ke Ping didn’t speak, just opened a video on his phone and handed it to Father Liu.

Father Liu looked over casually, not taking his son’s previous words seriously at all.

No matter what information he saw, it couldn’t stop him from taking Liu Kexin back.

Otherwise, if Liu Kexin really ended up with this ”poor boy” Lu Li, wouldn’t it be like jumping into a fire pit?

As a parent, Father Liu naturally didn’t want his daughter jumping into a fire pit.

That’s what he thought at the time.

However, when Father Liu’s gaze fell on the video screen, his pupils suddenly dilated, and his face turned horrified!
