Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 252: Chapter 231: My Authority... Will Not Be Defied!

Lu Li glanced at the administration building with a somewhat uncertain look.

The distance from here to the administration building is quite far, most people definitely can’t see what’s really happening.

He possessed superpowers like the Thousand-Mile Eye and X-ray Vision to scrutinize the surroundings, so naturally, he wouldn’t be unclear about the situation.

At this moment, at the entrance of the administration building, several new employees recently recruited by Xiaozhao and Xiaoqing were squatting.

Someone was smoking.

Someone was browsing Weibo, short videos, and the like.

These were nothing.

The key thing was, Lu Li heard an earth-shaking piece of news from their conversation.

He perked up his ears to listen carefully.

”...Those criminals in Mexico have gone crazy, huh?”

The young man with bangs was staring at his phone screen.

Another short youth with a long upper body and short lower body said, ”Exactly, I just saw it on Weibo: that Jalisco Group big shot threatened that if the culprit who destroyed their Tijuana Branch doesn’t show up, he’ll brutally kill one person who managed to escape from the Tijuana Branch every day.”

A middle-aged man was startled, ”Is it really that cruel?”

The young man with bangs handed over his phone, ”See for yourself, they’ve already killed one person; it’s too bloody, the news even used mosaics.”

A group of people gathered around the phone, where a middle-aged man’s body had been dismembered into countless pieces.

The only relatively intact part was the head, and even though it was covered with mosaics, the eyes wide open in death were somewhat distinguishable.

”Animals!”

”Damn beasts!”

”Killing someone wasn’t enough; they had to dismember him like this?”

”Damn, these Mexican criminals are truly inhuman!”

A group of people angrily cursed over there.

They’re all conscientious people; how could they remain indifferent in the face of such a bloody, cruel scene?

The young man with bangs added, ”Not only is it gruesome and terrifying, but those criminals also publicly announced that they’ve re-captured everyone who previously escaped from the Tijuana Branch. And until the person who killed their members shows up, they’ll kill one person a day; the list is even arranged, including a four- or five-year-old girl. Truly inhuman; the internet’s raging right now.”

The content of these discussions,

along with the news shown on the phone,

all fell on Lu Li’s ears and eyes.

He could even clearly see the words on the bus stop sign about ten kilometers away, let alone the phone screen at this short distance?

The comments under this news on Weibo indeed were filled with countless netizens’ condemnation and anger.

”They’re even ready to kill a four- or five-year-old girl? Too inhuman!”

”No international organization is stepping in to deal with this? Damn beasts!”

”Psh, they’re a criminal organization. Do you think those so-called international organizations stepping in would make them change their minds?”

”These Mexican scums clearly want to use this way to force their enemy to show up voluntarily!”

”Forcing the enemy to show up is one thing; on the other hand, they more want to use this to save face and scare others. Otherwise, if they don’t react to setting the precedent of the Tijuana Branch being destroyed, anyone would dare to step on them afterward. So, they’re doing this.”

”No matter the reason, you can’t be so cruel! The key point is there’s a four- or five-year-old girl. Are they even human?”

The cursing on Weibo had already become overwhelming.

It’s clear that as anyone with a conscience sees this inhumane news, it’s hard for them not to feel rage.

Since Lu Li awakened, his humanity had been worn down a lot, yet at this moment, he was secretly furious.

On one side, what the Jalisco Group did indeed went too far.

On the other side, the behavior demonstrated by the Jalisco Group currently appeared to be openly challenging him!

He had rescued those people from an abandoned factory, and yet the Jalisco Group wasn’t deterred. Instead, they recaptured them and even escalated their brutality, killing those who escaped?

If that’s not challenging him, then what is?

Even though, to be fair, if he hadn’t saved those people before, they might have already died. But since he went out of his way to save them, the Jalisco Group dared to act against them; it’s a blatant provocation!

Lu Li had a sense of being violated, with the anger inside him growing stronger.

Honestly speaking, he never felt this angry as he did now.

Even when Vice President Du sent people to deal with him at Vox, Lu Li wasn’t this furious.

So much so that he was too angry to even notice the content of Liu Ke Ping’s phone conversation with his father.

...

At the factory entrance, around the corner.

Liu Ke Ping had just answered the phone, ”Dad.”

From the other end of the line came Father Liu’s slightly stern voice, ”Ke Ping, did you go to Huaxia?”

Liu Ke Ping responded with a ”Mm,” covering for Liu Kexin, ”The company isn’t very busy lately, so I took a leave and came to Huaxia to see how Kexin is doing.”

Father Liu suddenly sneered, ”Do you really think I’ve gone senile?”

Liu Ke Ping was startled, ”Dad, what do you mean by that?”

”What do I mean?” Father Liu’s tone was filled with anger: ”Do you really think I don’t know what Kexin has been doing in Huaxia? She’s got some nerve, secretly keeping a pretty boy? Don’t tell me you don’t know!”

Liu Ke Ping knew he couldn’t hide it any longer, so he had to admit, ”Kexin did indeed get a boyfriend, but he’s not the pretty boy you’re talking about, Mr. Lu is very competent...”

Father Liu scolded, ”You’re even defending her?”

Liu Ke Ping was scolded into silence.

He figured his father had just received the news, was in a fit of anger and wasn’t listening to anything at the moment.

Father Liu didn’t waste words and said directly, ”Bring Kexin back.”

Liu Ke Ping used a stalling tactic, ”Vox is such a big company, how can Kexin leave without a transition?”

Even though Father Liu was angry, he understood the rationale.

He said calmly, ”Seven days, I’ll give you seven days to bring her back, or else... I’ll go in person!”

Liu Ke Ping wasn’t a fool. From Lu Li and Liu Kexin’s firm attitude last night, it was clear that not only seven days, even seven months wouldn’t be enough to bring his sister back.

But he also knew that if his father personally came to Huaxia, things would get out of control.

At that time, whether Liu Kexin would follow him back to the Ugly Country was one thing, but he feared Lu Li might suffer because of it!

To be honest, after strolling around here today, Liu Ke Ping actually admired Lu Li, and not wanting his sister to get hurt, he had to delay the situation, ”Dad, don’t worry, I will definitely find a way to bring Kexin back. You’re getting on in years; traveling isn’t suitable. Just wait in the Ugly Country for my good news.”

Upon hearing this, Father Liu was satisfied and said, ”Okay, I’ll believe you this time, don’t let me down, son.”

Liu Ke Ping sighed silently and said, ”I understand.”

Father Liu said nothing further and hung up the phone.

Liu Ke Ping squeezed his phone and looked towards the temporary laboratory, pondering how to solve this matter.

After much thought, he decided to have a little talk with Lu Li and Liu Kexin.

For instance, having Liu Kexin go back first, and once his father’s emotions stabilized, they’d attempt to persuade him slowly.

But doing this posed great risks, as his father might confine Liu Kexin for a very long time.

At that point, it would test how deep Lu Li and Liu Kexin’s feelings were and whether they could withstand the wait.

Liu Ke Ping worried his sister’s deep affection might not survive if Lu Li turned out to be a jerk, unable to wait long, and swiftly found new love.

”If he dares to do that, I certainly won’t let him off!”

Liu Ke Ping firmly determined and then walked slowly toward the door.

He was ready to have an open conversation with Lu Li and Liu Kexin about this matter.

...

Lu Li’s heart was already seething with uncontrollable rage.

He wished he could rush to Mexico and uproot the Jalisco Group immediately.

At that moment, Liu Ke Ping returned.

Liu Kexin looked over, ”Brother, was it Dad?”

Liu Ke Ping’s expression was somewhat heavy, and he nodded slightly, ”Yes.”

Liu Kexin asked, ”What did he say? Is he asking me to go back?”

Liu Ke Ping knew his sister was smart and could guess correctly.

He prepared to share his thoughts, ”More or less. Let’s find a quiet place to talk, because this involves a lot...”

But before he could finish.

Lu Li suddenly spoke, ”Mr. Liu, Kexin, I have something that might require me to leave for a few days. Xiaozhao will take you home later; let’s talk about anything after I get back.”

At this point, he looked directly at Liu Ke Ping with a serious gaze, ”I hope to see Kexin first thing when I return, or the consequences will be severe!”

If he’d heard such a threat in the past, Liu Ke Ping would have lost his temper.

But Lu Li was particularly intimidating at that moment.

The aura he exuded was terrifyingly oppressive.

Liu Ke Ping didn’t dare to breathe loudly, let alone refute a word.

He instinctively nodded slightly.

Lu Li’s seemingly calm face hid turbulent emotions.

He looked at Liu Kexin and gently said, ”Kexin, wait for me. Don’t go anywhere before I return.”

Liu Kexin nodded vigorously, ”Okay, I’ll listen to you.”

Lu Li reached out to caress her face, delicate like a work of art, bent down to give her a kiss, then said, ”I’m leaving, I’ll be back in a week at the most.”

Liu Kexin hastily asked, ”Can you tell me where you’re going?”

Lu Li replied calmly, ”This matter... it’s better if you don’t know.”

After saying that, he didn’t give Liu Kexin or Liu Ke Ping a chance to speak, turning around and walking out.

Liu Kexin and Liu Ke Ping looked at each other in bewilderment, not knowing what Lu Li was planning to do.

Especially Liu Ke Ping, who was genuinely intimidated by Lu Li’s aura earlier.

He had never felt such a frightening aura from anyone.

Now Lu Li suddenly said he needed to leave for a few days to handle matters.

This made Liu Ke Ping worry, afraid Lu Li might run into trouble, causing Liu Kexin to get hurt again.

He thought for a moment and decided to secretly have someone track Lu Li to see what he was up to.

Lu Li was unaware of Liu Ke Ping’s thoughts, as he didn’t have telepathy.

He was currently provoked to the core, his chest filled with rage, eager to uproot the Jalisco Group, and hang its leader Oseguera on the cedar tree outside the Tijuana Branch, to let them know the consequences of provoking him and quell the burning resentment.

Lu Li knew that the Jalisco Group was a massive organization.

His actions might cause a significant international stir.

But so what?

Since the Jalisco Group dared to provoke him, even if it shook the international stage or the highest authorities, it must be destroyed!

My dignity... is not to be challenged!
