Chapter 1298: Chapter 52: Blade

The Jiepeng Main Force has moved!

This news quickly raced back.

Over two hundred mechas were silently lined up in the valley.

The valley was desolate and silent. A shallow stream flowed through the valley. The slopes on both sides were shrouded by towering trees, silent and deep. The over two hundred silent mechas filled this small valley to the brim. It looked like the ancient terracotta warriors, always ready to charge and engage in battle after millennia of waiting.

When First Company, led by Baz, reached the small hilly forest area on the east of the Jiepeng Main Force for perimeter sweeping, Cosmo’s Second Company arrived at a blocking area two to three kilometers behind Baz. Fatty led the remaining two companies and quickly moved to this small valley at the flank and rear of Cosmo’s Second Company.

The valley stretched from east to west.

Not far to the west was the designated gorge for the retreat of First Company.

Stalling this Armored Division was not a complex task, so Fatty’s plan was straightforward.

The Jiepeng Main Force did not know the exact movements of Chuckna’s main force at this moment. Without SkyNet, they were enveloped in this shroud of darkness. The only thing they could discern was that the 221st and 231st Divisions were in dire straits. Now they were heading to the Flyns Agricultural District. What Fatty needed to do was to firmly draw their attention.

Baz, disguised as an extended guard force, crashed headlong into them. The enemy would certainly react. If they did not take the bait, they would be harassed to a standstill. Once they were lured by First Company and followed, Cosmo would quickly hold the 132 Hill, and the two companies he led, along with the retreating Baz, would be like two pincers, suddenly pulling out this fang from the Jiepeng people.

As long as they were hurt and bleeding, the enemy Commander would seriously evaluate this unit of unknown size and unknown target direction.

This battle does not need much scheming. Making the enemy Commander make a wrong judgment is the only strategy.

The rest is just a hard fight... a hard fight in which an Armored Camp disguises itself as a rearguard unit covering the Main Force’s northward advance to Beiguan City, desperately holding back an entire enemy Armored Division!

”Hoo... General,” Baz’s panting voice came through the communication channel amidst a burst of electronic interference, ”...these guys... are different from those we encountered before...”

The communication was cut off, leaving only a series of noise in the ears.

Some warriors looked back. The electronic platoon was at the end of the formation. However, this unit, which once dominated the world under the leadership of that genius boy, was now silently motionless. All the electronic interference devices of the electronic mechas remained inactive. Even though the frontline communication had been cut off by the Jiepeng people’s obviously intensified electronic attack, they seemed to turn a blind eye.

”Boom, boom...” In the distance, several explosions could be heard again. After the explosions faded away, only the faint and continuous sound of energy cannons could be heard.

This is a hilly area. The cannon sounds transmitted several kilometers away had become a hum. The undulating hills turned these sounds that could have traveled very far on the plains into echoes amongst the woods. Despite the faintness of the sound, everyone knew that in that direction, a small yet extraordinarily fierce battle was erupting.

In just ten minutes, First Company, alternating in two parts for cover, had already engaged at least six Jiepeng Guard Teams. Apart from the initial three guard teams that were swiftly taken down by First Company, the remaining Jiepeng outer mechas were now, regardless of the cost, relentlessly clinging to First Company.

Meanwhile, other surrounding Jiepeng Guard Forces were rapidly converging toward the combat area. Signs of large mecha movements were also evident at the position of the Jiepeng Main Force.

As Baz mentioned, this is an armored unit unlike any Jiepeng units encountered before. They are well-trained, experienced, and the combat capability of the mech knights is far superior to that of the usual Jiepeng Armored Forces.

Whether it was the Reconnaissance Team from the Vanguard Camp previously encountered or the Reconnaissance Team currently attacked by Baz’s First Company, they all displayed their skillfulness when attacked.

Even when witnessing their companions being swiftly cut down by several Mechanical Gods, they maintained their formation. The handling and tactical maneuvers of the mechas showed no sign of panic or fear. Their main force mobilization, alongside the rapid support and encirclement by other guard teams around, was orderly.

In warfare, the most feared adversary is such battle-hardened, composed veteran soldiers!

The faint sound of artillery drifted in. The mechanical computer on Fatty’s mecha played a short piece of recorded battlefield footage that had been sent back earlier.

In the footage, a Jiepeng mecha under attack, although its lower abdomen was completely pierced, and its transmission and electronic integration parts were fully damaged, still managed to throw a punch using its engine and the left mechanical arm that could still move.

This punch, although demonstrating the mecha warrior’s superb control skills, failed to inflict any harm to Mombarton attacking it. Instead, because this punch hindered Mombarton’s rapid charge, Mombarton instinctively retaliated with a kick, directly exploding this mecha.

If one didn’t consider the motion trajectory and movements of the other Jiepeng mechas in the footage, no one could see the peculiarity of this punch. But Fatty knew this punch slowed Mombarton’s charging speed by a notch, and simultaneously, the coordinated and fierce assault by three other Jiepeng mechas efficiently encircled Mombarton in the center.
