Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1274: Chapter 42: Dawn (3)_4

Time had become unbearably long in the waiting.

Jiepeng people! A lookout on the rooftop of the building let out a cry of despair.

In the silence, the men slowly stood up. A moment later, several Mecha silhouettes appeared on the distant hillside. From their outlines it could be seen, those were Jiepeng people’s Mecha.

Damn! A middle‑aged man squeezed out from the crowd.

He strode toward the town entrance. He was the mayor of this town, and even at this moment, he hadn’t forgotten the responsibility on his shoulders.

If he could prevent his homeland from being destroyed, he would do anything to achieve it. And if he died, he believed the fellows behind him would, without the slightest hesitation, pick up their weapons and fight every single Jiepeng person who set foot in this small town.

The mayor followed the path down the slope at the town entrance, walking toward the oncoming Mecha.

The distance grew shorter and shorter. The outline of the Mecha gradually became clear in his field of vision. Under the pale‑blue energy shield, the red armor shell was also clearly visible.

Suddenly, he stopped. He opened his mouth wide and, to his astonishment, discovered that on one of the oncoming Jiepeng Mecha there was clearly painted the insignia of Chuckna! It was a Roaring lion, blazing red like flame, mane and whiskers standing on end!

One Mecha after another sped past him.

Behind the Mecha were tens of thousands of soldiers. These soldiers in dark‑green uniforms smiled and waved at him, then turned onto another road at the town entrance, streaming endlessly toward the northeast.

The mayor looked back. From the growing crowd at the town entrance and the dumbfounded expressions on everyone’s faces, he knew he was neither seeing things nor dreaming!

Right beside him was an army belonging to this country!

They kept passing by him in an unbroken stream. Their uniforms were somewhat ragged, their bodies were covered in smoke and dust, and many of them had bandages wrapped around them. Yet these young lads all wore smiles, full of confidence and high spirits. They waved at him; on their faces you couldn’t see the slightest trace of the battle they had just fought.

Yes, this was that very unit! The one that had turned the Jiepeng people sleepless in the Northern Mountain Region.

They were still fighting!

They had fought their way here. For more than twenty days straight, facing wave after wave of pursuit by countless Jiepeng Forces, facing the encirclement of thirty divisions, there were still carefree smiles on their faces. What power could wipe the smiles from these young men’s faces? What power could crush this vibrant army?

”Did you win?!” The mayor suddenly felt like he had turned into a hot‑headed youngster. He looked at a young soldier passing by his side and asked.

”We won!” The warrior flashed him a victory sign and strode on.

”Where are you going?!” His gaze followed the warrior’s light‑footed figure as the mayor shouted loudly.

”To keep fighting!” The warrior turned his head and waved to him.

What a wonderful answer. The mayor laughed. He chuckled as he rubbed his sleeves together, once again becoming that cheerful middle‑aged man of the past, with a fierce wife and two mischievous sons.

No one can conquer Chuckna.

No one!

”Approaching Canglang Star.”

The flagship carrier Hermo, a hundred meters tall with a five‑tiered command hall, was a scene of intense activity as the electronic voice of the SkyNet System sounded.

Su Fei and Felix stood up at the same time and looked toward the main screen at the front of the command hall.

Outside the huge portholes beside the screen, one Chuckna and Feiyang Battleship after another clustered silently around Hermo in the brilliant starry void. In the direction pointed by the prows of the densely packed steel giants, a blue‑and‑white planet was, through the long-range viewer, gradually magnified on the main screen.

After two days of navigation, several strategic feints toward Leifeng Star and two small‑scale engagements, Canglang Star was now right before their eyes!

The Fei Alliance would, on this planet, raise the curtain on the Resk Battle!
