Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1294: Chapter 49: Assessment_2

The landing is imminent. The entire landing plan was laid out before Hastings.

Old friend Li Cunxin is still alive. Even for someone as calm as Hastings, this news brought a feeling of joy. This situation was caused by Little Margaret’s friend... After surprising everyone in the Longbow Star System, he gave the Fei Alliance another surprise.

The situation within Chuckna is one he understands all too well.

President Hill of Chuckna has always been hesitant, but this time, he will undoubtedly go all out! This is determined by the national character of the Chuckna people. When this country dedicates itself fully to war, the entire universe will tremble.

Thinking about how Margaret, who has returned to his side, mentioned that young fellow Tian Xingjian a total of three hundred sixty-seven times, Hastings couldn’t help but smile.

The Fatty probably won’t expect that for him, Hastings would come to Aksa. To come here and plant a seed for the future in the Southeast Star Domain!

”Maggie...” Hastings gently patted Margaret’s hand on his shoulder, signaling her to stop and asked, ”What do you think?”

”The situation in Resk?” Margaret squatted in front of Hastings, looking up at her grandfather.

”I’m asking about that young Fatty called Tian Xingjian...” Hastings grinned slyly, ”I’ve counted; you’ve brought him up over three hundred times in front of me these days, so I might as well ask you first.”

”Grandpa!” Margaret’s face turned beet red.

Hastings’ smile was full of affection as he stroked Margaret’s sunlit golden hair and said, ”There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You’ve got good taste, and so do I. How many young Major Generals in the world can catch the eye of both of us grandchildren and grandparent?”

”That guy’s a monster!” Margaret’s face was stern, but her eyes were filled with shyness and laughter.

”Then wouldn’t my future great-grandson be a little monster too?” Hastings’ eyes glazed over slightly.

”Grandpa!” Margaret bit her lip, glaring fiercely at Hastings until he smiled and raised both hands in surrender. In the world, only Margaret could make Military God Hastings surrender.

On the other end of the room, several officers exchanged smiles.

Although they couldn’t hear what the grandparent and grandchild were saying, seeing the usually serious Military God Hastings showing such childlike joy would surprise many people to the point of dropping their jaws. At this moment, Hastings was like a child.

The battleship slowly docked at the berth. Dozens of massive thirty-meter diameter tethers extended from the berth, firmly locking into the ship’s side slots. When Hastings was pushed in his wheelchair by Margaret and appeared at the docking passageway, Admiral McKinley led the command center generals who were already waiting at the hatch.

Seeing Hastings before their eyes, the generals with varying expressions stepped forward and saluted.

”Marshal.”

The rumors were evidently true; the Hastings before them looked entirely different from before.

Many exchanged glances, their faces filled with worry.

They dared not imagine what the world would be like if Hastings were lost.

As long as Hastings is alive, even if he does not issue a single command! He is the pillar in the hearts of Fei Alliance citizens; without him, who will support the sky?

Fei Alliance still lacks such a peerless hero!

Aside from worries, what’s more curious to everyone was why Hastings, who seemed indifferent to the retreating Karsdon Star River, would come to the Allied Command Center at this time and what signal this trip of his sends?!

Currently, the most important battles at the Allied Command Center are on two fronts.

One is the Ryan Battlefield with the Leefer Army Group, and the other is naturally the critically urgent Chuckna Battlefield. It is reported that after a major victory in the last battle, Leefer’s reputation is soaring, seemingly overshadowing Hastings. Even in Feiyang Country, some have begun to promote him as the military’s number one.

In Fei Alliance, the Hastings family has been in charge of the military for nearly a century, and Hastings himself became a god thirty years ago in one battle. But as Hastings ages and his health deteriorates, the Hastings family seems to lack someone to take up the banner. Though Margaret is exceptionally talented, she’s still seven points shy of being as seasoned as a great general like Leefer.

Once Hastings passes, will the power struggle within Feiyang undergo a dramatic change? For the emerging Leefer, what are Hastings’ plans, and what strategic pieces has he laid down in this war?!

All these questions entangled the generals’ minds. Their complex looks followed the movement of Hastings’ wheelchair to a person they did not expect.

”General Bernadotte,” Hastings, who only slightly nodded to the crowd, shook Bernadotte’s hand separately.

Although he had met Hastings countless times before, as a general ranked second among smaller member countries primarily focused on peace with weak military strength, Bernadotte and Hastings did not have much interaction.
