Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1296: Chapter 50: Contact

The troops silently marched forward.

Many warriors, as they walked, would turn their heads to look northward. There, it remained tranquil, and the only sound was that of the winter wind rustling through the trees, like the sound of a rainstorm.

Su Fei and Felix were assigned to a [Carter] III type troop transport mecha, swaying as they moved between the soldiers’ formation.

The mechanical battalion had already accelerated to the front. After consecutively annihilating two Jiepeng Armored Divisions, the captured weapons and mechas quickly enhanced the force’s combat strength and mobility.

Now, the 13th Armored Division which originally had only one and a half armored groups had expanded to three groups, almost reaching the mecha count of its peak period. Especially the 221st Armored Division, after its division commander was killed, the remaining four hundred plus mechas collectively surrendered. With those who surrendered previously upon being encircled, this division alone contributed a total of one thousand mechas.

Looking at the troops ahead, both Felix and Su Fei only felt pride in their hearts. Initially during their escape, they lacked weapons and mechas, yet along their journey, they not only did not weaken due to the encirclement but instead grew stronger. Lacking weapons, they seized them from the enemy; lacking soldiers, countless Chuckna resistance fighters constantly flowed into the mountain region to join their ranks.

This troop possesses inherent divine power! They are the sons of this land belonging to Chuckna. By simply lying on this land, they can recover all their strength and are forever invincible.

Su Fei sat quietly. With the warriors, she occasionally cast her gaze northward.

She worried about those warriors, and what confused her more was why that little boy would also enter an electronic mecha to follow that Leray fatty on an adventure. He was just a child!

Is this what war is?

Su Fei shook her head, dismissing the chaotic thoughts in her mind. She picked up the camera, aiming it at Felix.

Having climbed outside the cabin, Felix sat atop the mecha with a group of warriors, tidied his hair, and gestured to Su Fei to begin.

The camera turned on, capturing Felix’s wind-tousled gray hair in the shot.

”Do you see the troops beside me?” Felix’s voice was always so passionate. To keep his voice clear, he had to shout loudly against the winds stirred by the speeding mecha.

”We’ve been here for exactly two hours,” Felix checked the time, ”It’s 7 AM on October 19, 2063. Su Fei and I are accompanying the troops to a small town called Shuangxi Bridge.”

Turning his head, his voice drifted in the headwind, ”Look at the troops beside me. If I didn’t say anything, you might think your old Felix was captured by the Jiepeng people, but I must tell you, this is our troop, a genuine Chuckna army.”

”Look, that is Jiepeng’s Spirit Cat Mecha, a very famous Ninth Generation Mecha developed by Jiepeng for close combat,” Felix shouted into the wind, his collar flapping wildly, turning again to point at several other mechas: ”That’s Jiepeng’s Fushan Mecha, behind Fushan there’s a War Elephant Medium Mecha, and the taller, larger black mecha is Jiepeng’s Evil Dragon Heavy Mecha...”

He turned to face the camera, spreading his arms wide: ”... And now, on these mechas, Chuckna’s Lion Awakening emblem is painted! I must tell you, every moment here, I’m proud of this army!”

”Now, we’re going to follow this army to document a battle. We’ll record everything completely, showing it to you, letting you know how heroically our warriors fight for our country,” he said to Su Fei, ”Su Fei, do you think we’ll witness a miracle?”

”We will!” Su Fei replied.

Felix turned his head north, quietly gazing at the mountains there, his voice low: ”It’s a pity our camera cannot witness another group of warriors fighting. Their battles will be more dangerous and intense than we see. We can’t witness it. We can only pray for them here. We believe it will be an even greater miracle!”

He turned to the camera again: ”Right, Su Fei.”

Sitting on the mecha with the warriors, many had already turned away red-eyed. Having faced life and death, they knew better than anyone the situation of that Armored Camp. It was a Suicide Camp. No warrior who walked out expected to return alive. When they left, they had already arranged affairs and left farewell letters.

Now, several letters were kept warm against the chests of the warriors.

After a long time, Su Fei’s sobbing, loud voice echoed from off-camera.

”Yes!”

*******************************************************************************

”Son of a b****...”

The White Thunderbolt lay behind the slope of a small hill. Inside the cockpit, Fatty raised his head to closely observe the mecha’s long-range viewer image.

On the screen, Hagrove and Meng Xun’s Thunderbolts had activated their shell camouflage colors, perfectly blending the mecha’s colors into the environment. They were less than a kilometer in front of the hill where Fatty was positioned. Nearby, five Jiepeng Spirit Cat mechas had already turned into two or three bonfires and a field of wreckage.

That was a reconnaissance squad leading the Jiepeng 2nd Armored Division, and in just one minute, the squad was killed by two War Gods.

At this moment, the vanguard of the Jiepeng 2nd Armored Division, attracted by the sound of explosions, had stopped three kilometers away. However, cautiously, they did not move in this direction as Fatty had anticipated. Instead, they stood by, on alert in place, forming a battle formation with their flanks spread out, while sending out two more reconnaissance squads to search this area.

Fatty felt utterly contemptuous of their refusal to take the bait.

”Come over, la la la, come over.....”

Behind him, dozens of Mechas quietly hid in the forest at the foot of the mountain, while more Mechas were concealed in the rolling hills further away.

The warriors quietly watched Fatty lying on the hillside and the War Gods behind him.

They had stepped out of the ranks and come here without hesitation, not only because the country needed their sacrifice but also because of the miracles Fatty had led them to achieve.

However, no one knew how Fatty Major would fight this battle against such a formidable enemy?!

”Pipi, how many kilometers is the enemy’s main force from here?” Fatty opened the regional communicator, sending a connection signal to the officers. Soon, the virtual screen at the control console naturally split into over ten blocks, showing Anthony, Li Weiguo, and other company and battalion level officers who had followed him.

”We have only one enemy camp directly in front of us, and their main force is now just ten kilometers away from us. The four groups have not dispersed. Although the formation is stretched because of the terrain, their flanks extended widely, and protection is very tight. Moreover, they apparently already know about the annihilation of the 231st Division. The direction they are advancing is towards the flank of my main force, and small reconnaissance teams have already started moving towards Shuangxi Bridge Town to explore......”

On the communication screen, the little kid, with a serious look on his face, pointed at the map with a pen. The contrast of his childlike appearance and tone looked quite bizarre.

Fatty pulled up the computer terrain map, and quickly computed and simulated based on the real-time battle reports from the little kid.

In the real-time report, the advancing Jiepeng 2nd Armored Division resembled a fat ant probing with long antennae. The camp he had just encountered was just one of the antennae, and a few kilometers behind this camp on the flank, there was another camp. These two camps advanced southward at an extremely rapid pace and only stopped after he deliberately startled them.

However, losing a reconnaissance team did not divert this unit’s attention; their focus remained on the location of the main force. The enemy Commander’s target was clear. They also accurately interpreted the entire Northern Mountain Region’s situation. Although they hadn’t yet contacted Chuckna’s main force, they had already set their sights on Shuangxi Bridge Town!

The main force hadn’t gone far, and with the enemy’s mobility, they could catch up at any time.

Fatty frowned, drawing simulation symbols one by one, moving, calculating, erasing. The simulation program rapidly computed, the two forces, like two entangled centipedes, changed every minute, every second.....

To hold the opponent here for at least four or five hours, he must make the enemy commander misjudge!

A moment later, Fatty opened the Mecha computer’s connection signal, using an electronic pen to draw a circle six kilometers away from here along the enemy’s advancing route. The line simultaneously appeared on all the officers’ Mecha computers.

”Baz, Infantry, Mombarton..... you three and Major Li Weiguo, take the First Company here, clear out the enemy’s flank patrol units, act swiftly and fiercely. If the enemy’s main force doesn’t move, you just continue to clear along the outer area, if they move, you run immediately.”

”Understood!”

Fatty drew another circle in the canyon area behind the first circle.

”Cosmo, Weiseler, Long Tai, the three of you and Major Pang Li, take the Second Company here. Cover the First Company’s action. If the enemy’s main force doesn’t move, you stay put. If the main force moves, immediately move to coordinate 3299.8450.2, and seize the hilltop at an altitude of 132.2 at the mouth of the valley.”

”Yes!”

With a wave of Fatty’s hand, the two companies quickly skirted the hillside towards the northeast, activating stealth mode with slight noises from the forested hills behind him.

Only by hurting the enemy will they take the first step into making a wrong judgment!

To make someone retreat, first make them go crazy.

I’ll harass them until they’re driven mad!
