Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1255: Chapter 36: Hot Spring

In the Northern Mountain Region, the towering Tiklar Mountain stretches for thousands of kilometers.

At the top of this mountain range resembling a giant dragon lies snow that never melts throughout the year. The mountainside is covered with gray-brown bare rocks, while at the foot of the mountain, there are winding streams and dense primordial forests.

The 13th Armored Division and 51st Infantry Division are currently stationed at a mountain valley at the foot of Tiklar Mountain.

In the dense forest, tens of thousands of Chuckna Soldiers have turned everything visible into a large field camp.

Dozens of Mecha patrol around; the Mechanic Soldiers are busy with greasy hands repairing Mechas, officers are busy studying maps, the kitchen staff are cooking in expanded Transport Mecha, and the medics are assisting the injured, walking slowly under the sun for rehabilitation treatment.

On a flat clearing, a few Mechas can be vaguely seen leaping and maneuvering, with fighting sounds intermittently emerging — the Bandit Army Mecha Gods are imparting their combat skills to the Mechanical Warriors. This kind of training has been ongoing since the breakthrough from Hot Spring Town. Under their tutelage, the Mechanical Warriors may not have made rapid progress, but they’ve improved significantly in deadly close combat techniques and cross-wave cover cooperation.

After all, they’re seasoned warriors; sometimes, what everyone lacks is just a little inspiration to break through. The explanation of a phrase or movement by these experts standing at a different realm has a transformative effect. Amidst the metallic clashing of Mecha Fighting, exclamations and cheers occasionally burst out.

On the open space near the shore of a pretty lake, sunlight fragments fall onto the grass through gaps in the tree crowns; the Command Mecha has been opened, with automatic armor plates and instruments extending outside the Mecha forming an outdoor command post.

Pei Litong is sketching on an electronic sand table with a pen; Balmer is talking quietly with a staff member by the shimmering lakeside; the Old Marshal Li Cunxin sits on a folding chair, legs stretched out, squinting his eyes enjoying the sun; staff members with various duties busily walk back and forth; Boswell, Milan, and a group of researchers are busy collecting data and testing on a few motionless Thunderbolts.

”Earned it.....hehe.....”

A hearty laugh from not far away makes everyone pause their work. They glance towards the source of the sound, then exchange a look and shake their heads with a wry smile.

On the grass dozens of meters away, a large array formed by Transport Mecha lines up in formation. The sweaty logistics personnel are counting the piled-up spoils, while the two most idle Fattys in the camp are trotting behind the logistics chief, craning their necks to glance at the list in the chief’s hand, looking ecstatic.

Along the way, everyone finally understands why this Fatty’s army calls themselves the Bandit Army.

From breaking through Hot Spring Town to now, in a mere fifty-plus hours, these two bandits have led the armored troops and pulled off several successful raids.

The Northern Mountain Region is vast, with countless towns scattered within. Canglang Star’s two main resource highways also pass through the Northern Mountain Region. Entering the Northern Mountain Region, this troop becomes like a fish in the sea. And for Fatty Major General, it’s like a bandit entering Alibaba’s treasure vault!

As the troops march deeper into the mountains, these two never idle for a moment; every day at headquarters, Fatty and Pipi can be seen eyeing the map shiftily, discussing places to raid — that little boy named Pipi is too familiar with the Northern Mountain Region, not only that, he seems able to discern Jiepeng people’s troop arrangements and even knows the distribution of their bases.

Initially, everyone thought it was a joke. After all, the Mechas captured from Hot Spring Town, combined with their own, have been reconstituted into an enhanced Armored Group and a strengthened electronic company. And the damaged Mechas collected from the battlefield, along with the captured parts, are gradually being converted into Mechas joining the 13th Armored Division’s combat sequence.

The infantrymen of the 51st Division haven’t fallen behind either. With a large amount of weaponry, troop transport mecha, and individual equipment seized yet to be distributed, the firepower and mobility of the 51st Division now rival that of an Armored Division. Although infantry cannot hard battle Armored Divisions head-on in the field, when it comes to fleeing and position blocking, even facing two Armored Divisions simultaneously, they can hold out for a few days.

Compared to before, life now is like peasants turning into landlords; it’s so much better. Therefore, in everyone’s view, the important thing for the troops now is to conserve strength and evade the enemy’s comprehensive encirclement. Who would still think to proactively stir trouble? What use is there in seizing more things? It’s not like these two divisions can counterattack.

However, this Fatty is willfully reckless!

Not long after leaving Hot Spring Town, just entering the Northern Mountain Region, even with a Jiepeng Armored Division pursuing from No.3 Resource Highway behind them, he took advantage of the night with the little boy, leading a group of warrior Mechas who never ask questions and an unsuspecting Armored Camp, raided a small town 60 kilometers from the main force’s route.

The town’s population was not large, but because there was already a Chuckna garrison base there, and it was located at an important spot between No.3 Resource Highway and No.5 Resource Highway, the Jiepeng people stationed an Armored Camp there. The purpose is to protect logistics on the Resource Highway, and also to clear resistance, strengthening control over Canglang Star.
