Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1268: Chapter 41: Dawn (2)

In the Northern Mountain Region, there’s still a Chuckna army fighting!

Whenever people think of this army, whenever they hear news about it, their hearts are filled with pride and honor. Just look at the tense Jiepeng Patrol Team and outposts, at the frequently mobilized Jiepeng Army, at the fighter jets swiftly passing over the city sky, and you’ll know the trouble this nation’s army has caused the invaders!

No one knows when the Fei Alliance will be able to reinforce Resk. No one knows what the future holds.

What people do know is that when the Fei Alliance was retreating step by step, when Mikami Yuto launched a surprise attack on Canglang Star, and when countless Mechas and fighter jets turned city after city into ruins, when millions of civilians died in war fire, and several divisions that had retreated from the Leifeng Star frontline turned to ash in artillery fire without a chance to retaliate, there was still an army holding on.

Maybe they don’t have much influence on the overall situation on Canglang Star, maybe they don’t have any earth-shattering military achievements. But their existence has become a banner in the hearts of all Canglang Star people, a warm sun in this cold winter.

As long as they are still there, as long as they can cause trouble for the Jiepeng people, as long as they survive and fight in the dense Jiepeng army, that’s enough!

They are a group of young Chuckna youth.

Maybe they are in ragged clothes, maybe they lack ammunition and weapons. But they must have confident gazes, calm and resolute.

They fought the Jiepeng people with two incomplete and disorganized divisions. In nearly a month, the Jiepeng people, despite their absolute advantage, failed to annihilate these two divisions and suffered heavy losses instead.

What could be more pride-inducing than having such an army!

The people eagerly collect all information about this army... The latest news is that the Jiepeng people have mobilized thirty divisions to encircle the Northern Mountain Region, determined to annihilate the Chuckna Forces that have humiliated them. It’s said that due to several defeats, their Prince has dismissed and put several Senior Officers on trial.

The public feels both proud and worried.

After all, it’s a total of thirty divisions. Forget about fighting, just mobilizing these forces is akin to a major campaign. Once encircled, it would be a dead end! Even the most optimistic people cannot remain optimistic after hearing this news.

This concern is felt most acutely by the citizens residing in Beiguan City.

That army is right in their surrounding vast Northern Mountain Region. In recent days, the massive gathering of Jiepeng army in Beiguan City, then moving southward, is evident. For those in other cities, the news of Jiepeng mobilizing thirty divisions might be rumor, but for them, it’s an undeniable fact.

There are even rumors that Jiepeng is employing a scorched earth policy in the Northern Mountain Region! Many towns and communities west and south of Beiguan City have become ruins. Numerous ordinary civilians have been massacred, many small towns have become lifeless dead cities. The Jiepeng people are frantically trying to force the Chuckna Forces hiding in the mountains to come out!

The days pass unusually slowly as people wait in anxiety.

October 18, 2063, at noon.

kilometers south of Beiguan City, in the Flyns Agricultural District, people stopped everything they were doing upon hearing a loud explosion.

With confused and bewildered expressions, people stepped out of their homes, gathered together, and listened intently.

After the loud noise, the world returned to peace. The winter wind howled gently. The weather vane on the roof spun continuously. The trees outside the modular houses of the organized community rustled. Although it was noon, the sky without sunlight was gray and hazy, and the distant mountains were obscured in mist.

Just as everyone was looking at the sky, guessing if the loud explosion was a thunderclap from the dense clouds far away, suddenly, another loud explosion erupted, startling everyone.

Cannon fire, it was cannon fire!

The endless and dense cannon fire roared and instantly joined into one. People looked in shock as the low-lying clouds on the other side of the hills seemed to ignite with flames, with firelight and exploding white light flickering continuously on the horizon. The violent trembling reached them, and the window glass shook as if about to shatter.

At this time, in this place, how could there possibly be such fierce fighting?

With mouths agape, people exchanged horrified looks, all struck by the same unbelievable thought!

That’s the army in the Northern Mountain Region!

My God, they’ve actually reached here!

”Fire!”

Nash fiercely wiped the sweat and dirt from his face, roared wildly, and gripped the portable energy machine gun tightly, pressing the trigger hard.

A curtain of energy bullets sprayed fan-like towards the front of the position. Around him, numerous energy bullet light chains interwove and shuttled back and forth, the ground soil splashing like water, smoldering mecha wreckage scattered haphazardly on the battlefield, countless soldiers’ bodies from both sides piled in layers. A scene straight out of hell.

The ground was trembling. In front of the temporarily set up position, hundreds of Jiepeng Mecha began another charge.
