Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1227: Chapter 27: Reunion (3)

Milan squeezed out of the crowd at full speed, darting through the gaps between one Mecha after another and row upon row of camp beds. The thought that he was somewhere in here made her heart beat faster and faster......

The warrior went on with his story.

How they repelled the enemy’s attack at Position 347, how they turned the tables with only one battered Mecha left, how they disguised themselves as the enemy and swaggered straight toward the second defensive line, how they raided the enemy’s camp, armed themselves and set up two ambushes to wipe out two more of the enemy’s Armored Camps, and how they then feinted in the east to strike in the west and lured the tiger away from the mountain.

The warriors and officers around him listened in silence. At the hair-raising parts they broke out in a cold sweat, at the exhilarating parts their blood boiled. One by one they were utterly engrossed, minds racing, carried away.

Li Cunxin and Pei Litong, on the other hand, were more and more shocked the more they listened. The more they listened, the more excited they became, itching to slap the table and shout in admiration. By the end, their eyes kept darting to the side, itching to hurry up and meet this Major General Tian and his nine Mechanical Gods!

”Teacher....” Milan, who had already run back and forth between the Mecha two or three times, stood helplessly in the middle of them, on the verge of tears. ”He’s not here..... why isn’t he here?”

Boswell was just as distraught. Not only was Fatty nowhere to be seen, even the little kid was gone!

”.......So we pulled back first, and as soon as we got back to the position, we were brought here.” The warrior finished his account and added at the end, ”Major General Tian said he was going to go score another big one. His Mechanical Warriors came back too; they’re in Sector One on the front edge of the position.”

The warrior had barely finished speaking when a thunderous uproar exploded from the front line.

Laughter, curses, cheers, clapping, shouts of acclaim, like a pot suddenly boiling over. The entire position was in an uproar.

Milan had already dashed out the very first instant. Right after her, the officers followed, running toward Sector One of the position less than two hundred meters away.

All along the way, they could hear the cheers from Sector One rolling on without end.

The warriors on both sides of the trench had already stood up. Some craned their necks to look ahead, while others avoided their own officers’ gaze and tried to slip off toward Sector One to see what the fuss was about.

Milan’s graceful figure sprinted through the crowd like a nimble little deer.

At last, drenched in fragrant sweat, she reached the forward edge of Sector One.

Following the gaze of the countless cheering warriors, she saw a scarred Mecha clutching a Jiepeng Officer, striding onto the position like a triumphant General amid a tide of applause, shaking its ass down the slope in a cocky little wiggle.

Tears welled up in Milan’s eyes in an instant. Through the blur, she saw the Mecha leap down into the trench.

The Mecha’s cockpit slowly opened, and the cheers were cut off mid-sound.

”Goddammit, I was finally getting into the fight when reinforcements show up, and you even dare to charge ahead all by yourself.” Fatty jumped down cursing furiously, looking around, only to find everyone staring at him with odd expressions.

”Tch! This is bullying, pure and simple. Do they really think I’ve got a good temper?” The bastard seemed to realize his words weren’t all that justified, his face twitching as he spat viciously on the ground and grumbled resentfully, ”Way too damn bullying!”

No sooner had he finished speaking than a soft body, like a fragrant, plush artillery shell, suddenly slammed into his chest. Fatty’s soul nearly flew out of him.

”Fatty, you’re dead!”

Milan said, crying.
