Chapter 1222: Chapter 26: Evil Born of Courage

”Kill!”

Upon hearing this thunderous roar, the Chuckna warriors running towards Height 415 were instantly overjoyed.

”It’s our people!”

”They’re here, the brothers have come to save us!”

As they ran, they looked ahead with surprise and delight.

Countless self-propelled artillery guns opened fire from behind Height 415. These artillery, completely ignoring the risk of their coordinates being exposed once fired when SkyNet was suppressed, relentlessly and without pause, sent round after round of energy to the sky. The sky was obscured by white meteors, and the roar was like a train entering a tunnel, overwhelming.

Moments later, as the first batch of energy bullets exploded behind the formation of the Jiepeng Armored Battalion, a deafening roar pierced the sky.

”Long live Chuckna!!”

Numerous Chuckna warriors surged down from the hill.

Although they were merely infantry, the collective charge of thousands was still like the Yangtze River. The portable missiles and portable energy cannons in their hands roared and bellowed. Hundreds of missiles, dragging twisted white trails of smoke, shrieked sharply in the air, and thousands of energy cannons, machine guns, and rifle ammo chains rapidly formed a dense web of light.

The valley basin, already filled with explosive sounds, seemed to ignite with ten thousand tons of explosives. Countless mushroom clouds rose into the sky. Thick black smoke clawed through the air. Not yet dispersed by the fierce mountain winds, countless identical black smoke clumps appeared from nowhere. Between the black smoke were dense white smoke, with stone and dirt shards crackling against the ground, and fleeting red flames ascending to the sky.

The Jiepeng Armored Battalion, torn apart by the Red Mecha, fell into even greater chaos.

Their main formation was scattered under the artillery barrage, their mecha teams slaughtered by the Red Mecha darting around like the wind. Of the over 400 mechas, fewer than 200 remained. These 200 were spread over a 20 square kilometer area, each fighting on its own. No matter how maddening the battalion commander issued orders, they could not regroup.

The bloodthirsty Red Mecha continually sliced through them.

They always appeared at the most terrifying times, in the most terrifying positions, concentrating attacks on the most terrifying parts, then disappeared without a trace at the most desperate times.

The disappearance of one Red Mecha Team usually meant another Red Mecha Team would emerge from an unknown place. They were like a precise machine, meshing every gear seamlessly under the control of invisible hands. If for a time they weren’t attacking, you needed to be even more cautious. In the next second, three to four red blades might suddenly appear from all directions, stabbing into your body.

Fear spread in the hearts of the Jiepeng Mecha Warriors.

They were not afraid of fighting, not even afraid of dying. But they had no way to face such a maniacally wielding blade, elusive opponent.

When the battle turns into a state where comrades around you keep falling, and you can’t find anyone to fight desperately against, this war becomes unwinnable.

Moreover, their orders were to do everything possible to prevent these enemies from approaching the 415 stronghold and to stop them from joining the 415 stronghold. They indeed did this. But among the eight mecha teams that infiltrated from both flanks and headed for the enemy’s infantry formation, none got close before being massacred by the Red Mecha, like lambs to the slaughter.

Let alone those teams; even the two companies serving as the main force at the forefront were teetering. The originally compact formation had been torn to pieces, with dozens of scattered mecha groups of various sizes all fighting independently across the plain. Most had adopted circular defensive formations, nervously guarding against threats from all around.

Ordinary soldiers couldn’t understand what was happening. Only the Jiepeng Armored Battalion’s commander, with his cold hands and feet, truly understood.

This commander was thirty years old.

A son from a recently ennobled family that started with business, becoming the battalion commander of the Jiepeng Armored Battalion at thirty was already an impressive achievement.

At sixteen, he entered the Jiepeng 68th Royal Military Academy. At twenty-two, with four years of straight A’s and two years of special training, he entered the army with the rank of Captain to become a junior officer.

After eight years in the military, he finally leveraged his solid military skills and steadfast command abilities to rise through the ranks to achieve a Camp Rank.

For him, these eight years were years of accumulation.

A single company couldn’t make much impact on a battlefield, but a battalion could change the outcome of a war! He believed his command talent would propel him to great heights in the next eight years.

But he didn’t expect his dream to be shattered at this moment by an under-strength red armored company.

He had already exerted his greatest effort. From the moment this ragtag group of mixed mecha and infantry began converging on them, he had been preparing. Despite the lack of reports from the scouts sent out and the absence of intelligence return, he had sensed danger from the unusual circumstances.

He was clearer than anyone about the capabilities of the 172nd Division’s Special Forces Camp. Even a hundred Special Mecha had been completely annihilated, and none of the twenty-plus Reconnaissance Mecha had returned—this in itself already told the story.
