Chapter 1213: Chapter 8 Vol. 23: The Third Life-or-Death Battle (Part 2)_3

When the first line of defense was lost, chaos ensued, and the formations were already in disarray. Many units were captured because they couldn’t escape the encirclement of the Jiepeng Armored Forces in time. They were among the thousands who were captured. Originally, they thought they’d never see each other again. Who knew that after twists and turns, they would reunite in such circumstances.

”Battalion Commander! Battalion Commander!” Warriors squeezed out from the crowd and quickly surrounded Li Weiguo and others.

The warriors of the Second Regiment, First Battalion were so excited that their eyes turned red. They’ve made a round on the edge of death, and seeing their officer at this moment was like seeing their father and brother. A few warriors choked up, their throats clogged, and suddenly they burst into tears.

”Stop making me lose face, damn it!” Li Weiguo, eyes red and tears blurred, glared like a bull and shouted, ”Second Regiment, First Battalion, my men, have you ever cried?!”

As he spoke, Li Weiguo fiercely slapped the shoulders of the warriors beside him, pushed through the crowd, and walked up the hillside. Looking around at the amazed and excited eyes, he shouted, ”Brothers...”

He only managed to call out one sentence before his voice choked up. This battle was truly arduous. Since the escape began, for a whole half month, two full armored divisions along with other soldiers who escaped from the city base and local troops that joined along the way amounted to over fifty thousand men, but now, there were probably less than twenty thousand left.

Along the way, there were corpses everywhere, charred positions shaved off by a whole layer, broken limbs, and wreckage of weapons and mechas. This mountainous area by the Karachi River could be considered hell on earth. And in front of him, these over two thousand prisoners were already exhausted to the extreme, weakened to the extreme.

Yet, their eyes remained bright. In this dark and damp jungle, they were like thousands of shining stars!

”There’s not much time left!” Li Weiguo gritted his teeth and said, ”We have to escape! In that direction!”

Li Weiguo’s hand suddenly pointed westward: ”We don’t have enough weapons, and there are very few mechas; we all need to rely on walking. A full ten kilometers, this will be a very difficult and arduous road.”

”In the direction we’re heading, there’s an entire full-strength enemy Armored Camp! Behind us, the enemy we’ve tricked into leaving the mountain might quickly react and pursue us at an off-road speed of over a hundred kilometers per hour!” He clenched his fist tightly and looked around: ”And we only have these dozens of mechas! Absolutely not enough forces to guard you by your side, to clear the way and cover you — are you afraid!”

”Not afraid!” Tears glistened in the warriors’ eyes, and their thunderous shouts exploded in the jungle.

To rescue their comrades, there were only dozens of mechas, barely less than a company-sized unit. They could have chosen not to come, could have ignored these two thousand infantrymen with appallingly slow mobility. But, they still came!

Everyone knew, burdened by the two thousand prisoners, the future ten-kilometer journey would be extremely perilous and arduous.

Behind them, the intense sounds of explosions and artillery fire reached a new level, even more violent and wild. The warriors did not dare to look outside the forest. They feared that turning their head, they would see their comrades falling under the Jiepeng Special Camp’s attack, feared that turning their head, they would be unable to hold back their tears!

Live and die together! Where else is there a way out?

These comrades made a stupid choice! They just showed up before them, joining them on this path destined to be a road of no return.

”Why did you come to save us?” Lokita stared directly into Li Weiguo’s eyes, hoarsely growling in a low voice: ”You didn’t have to appear! Do you know what a company of mechas means to the division commander?!”

”Don’t worry,” Li Weiguo patted the shoulder of his friend, knowing Lokita was concerned about him. A slight smile of pride appeared at the corner of his mouth: ”Take a look behind you...”

Lokita looked outside the jungle, and the warriors also directed their gaze outside the jungle.

In the dust filling the sky, numerous beams of white light swept across the land, where two armored units clashed together like two black dragons. Jiepeng Special Soldiers were desperately charging forward, and those with red markings on the mechas were fighting and retreating.

A mecha collapsed with a roar, its joints adorned with vivid orange armor. Another mecha fell, similarly leaving an orange streak amid the dust and rubble... Besides these fallen mechas, dozens of mechas with orange joints lay on the ground, a color echoed in the scattered debris!

Indeed, no one misjudged. The retreating mechas bore red markings, but those falling were the increasingly wild Special Armored Soldiers of Jiepeng!

Because there were ten red shadows maneuvering within the orange mecha group.

Where they passed was like hell. One orange mecha after another collapsed or turned into balls of fire before them. In their lightning-fast attacks, Jiepeng’s most elite Special Mechas were akin to dull puppets. These ten Red Mechas continuously spread, converge, and slice through the mecha group!

A Chuckna Mecha Warrior’s finger twitched, suddenly stiffening, body turning cold. His subconscious simulated combat, yielding results that showed he couldn’t withstand three moves from these Red Mechas! If on a battlefield, if these Red Mechas came close, three moves later, he would already be a dead man!
