Chapter 1202: Chapter 8-18: First Life-and-Death Battle (Part 5)

However, military orders are as unyielding as a mountain. No matter how many grievances there are, they can only be swallowed down with saliva. If they need to break camp, they have to break camp; if they need to march quickly, they have to march quickly. If they can’t arrive at the designated time, those high-ranking nobles in the military court won’t show any mercy. The Jiepeng Army’s reputation as the universe’s number one was earned through strict discipline, harsh training, and strict mental unity!

After checking the time and looking at the electronic map, the battalion commander, although still urging, had calmed down at heart. The forward base beneath High Ground 415 was just a hundred kilometers away, and they’d arrive in two hours one way or another. Capturing High Ground 415 would mean the battle was over. Next would be the time for rest and relaxation in the city.

There, the occupier is God!

”Major!” the communication channel relayed the report from the communicator: ”SkyNet has sent orders, requesting us to verify the situation of First Battalion of the Second Regiment at coordinates 34991.7453.3. SkyNet has detected abnormalities. This battalion, ten minutes after receiving orders, still hasn’t made any moves. The command has already sent an unmanned reconnaissance drone to check the situation.”

”Check my ass!” the battalion commander cursed: ”They’re so close, can’t they sleep a little longer? Even if they’re half an hour late, so what, as long as they can assemble on time. Making a mountain out of a molehill! In this area, do they really worry about the Chuckna people sneaking in to seek death? We’ll move on, and if the reconnaissance sees an issue, we’ll deal with it. We’ll separate once we reach the front anyway.”

After saying that, the battalion commander looked up at the transparent cockpit cover outside. It was past four in the morning, and it was pitch dark all around. Only his mechanical team, with their headlights on, was advancing swiftly like a stream of light through the mountains.

He suddenly felt something was off.

After he finished speaking, he didn’t hear the communicator’s customary ”Yes, sir.” Or perhaps he did, but the voice was very soft and strange.

Suddenly, a piercing noise erupted in his headphones, and a dazzling, twisted pattern appeared on the mechanical computer screen.

The expression on the battalion commander’s face froze instantly. This was an electronic attack in this mountainous terrain........

”Enemy attack!!”

The battalion commander, a graduate of the Jiepeng Royal Second Military Academy, reacted quickly, opened the external loudspeaker of his mecha, and let out a desperate scream.

Almost simultaneously, with a ”boom!” several dozen energy cannon shots streaked into the defenseless mecha formation like lightning in the dark night.

At least ten Spirit Cats turned into fireballs in the night.

The sudden outbreak of firelight, surrounded by savage shouts of battle cries, echoed through the sky!

”Be careful, fly lower!”

In the temporary Chuckna command post behind the 415 position, an Electronic Soldier was cautiously controlling the unmanned reconnaissance drone.

With SkyNet forcibly suppressed to near paralysis by the Jiepeng people, this last unmanned reconnaissance drone had become the treasure of all electronic warfare units.

The electronic reconnaissance drone, like a ghost, flew silently in the night sky.

After several dangers of almost being discovered, they finally found a path that minimized the chances of being spotted by the enemy, allowing the drone to fly to a farther place and send back more intelligence.

Because SkyNet only had basic communication functions left, the officers and soldiers of the electronic division seemed a bit idle. Many gathered behind this Electronic Soldier, watching the images transmitted back by the drone. Without electronic detection and without SkyNet’s cover, the unmanned reconnaissance drone could only use optical cameras at places far from enemy core areas, cautiously transmitting back some blurry images.

Position 415 had not been attacked for an hour. This sudden silence made everyone feel somewhat unusual.

What did the other side want to do, and what kind of maneuvers were their troops involved in... Various doubts swirled in everyone’s minds.

Everyone hoped that this last reconnaissance drone would capture some useful information before being discovered by the enemy.

On the screen, the varying darkness of the mountainous forests looked like the sea under moonlight, shimmering with cold light. The silent mountains, like giants in black, stood tall or short, shoulder to shoulder.

There was nothing... Anxiety and disappointment spread in everyone’s hearts. What useful intelligence could a lone goose-like unmanned reconnaissance drone obtain? This kind of flight was just a stroke of luck, a move of helplessness.

People were silent, then suddenly, a glimmer of light appeared on the screen.

Soon, the glimmer transformed into hundreds and thousands of dazzling fireworks, bursting brilliantly in the black mountains, with great brilliance!
