Chapter 1225: Chapter 27: Reunion

Many witnessed the capture of the division commander of the 172nd Division, Level 9 Mecha Warrior Zhongshan Yi.

Although everyone later confirmed that they had spotted that Mecha first, at the moment of witnessing, due to the chaotic scene, no one knew what had really happened.

When the Jiepeng reinforcements appeared, both sides understood each other well.

When the Jiepeng Forces arrived at the battlefield and saw the current location of the Chuckna people, they knew it was impossible to catch them before they retreated into their stronghold, and thus abandoned the idea of pursuing and intercepting. Meanwhile, the Chuckna people quickly gave up their slaughter of the remaining forces of the 3rd Group First Battalion of the 172nd Division and retreated to their positions.

Both sides advanced and retreated, moving westward simultaneously.

From a bird’s-eye view, the Jiepeng Army formed a fan shape, rolling downhill towards the west, while the Chuckna Army, with dozens of Red Mechas at the rear, retreated like a tide into position 415.

However, a lone red figure moving in the opposite direction broke this mutual understanding.

Even though the basin was still filled with rolling smoke, bursts of fire, explosions of white light, and flying dust, the red figure was too conspicuous.

It was like someone had shouted in a silent cinema or like a small boat going upstream in a raging river. Such a sensory reversal was easily noticeable.

Whether it was the Chuckna soldiers who had already run onto the position or the Jiepeng soldiers pressing in from all directions, at least hundreds of people saw it. At the same time, they also saw a Jiepeng Spirit Cat rapidly approaching it!

Then, they witnessed the fiercest and fastest kill of their lives!

That earth-shattering strike was like lightning on a stormy night.......

The Red Mecha ran through the smoke, constantly changing direction, like a flash of lightning brewing in a black cloud. Suddenly, it shot out from the smoke.

Its body traced a zigzag arc in the air, as clearly visible as lightning across the night sky. This arc was so dazzling and eye-catching. Its winding brightness quietly remained on people’s retinas, capturing almost all their attention.

Immediately, the Red Mecha vanished from view. It seemed to streak into the void along the silky endpoint of lightning. When it reappeared, it was already in front of the Spirit Cat at the forefront.

A punch, a kick.

The Spirit Cat was like a tree struck by lightning. Sparks flew, and then it collapsed with a thunderous boom.

The cockpit of the Mecha was broken open, a person was grabbed out, and the Red Mecha turned and ran! Fleeing frantically toward position 415. It wasn’t until he had rushed nearly five hundred meters that the Jiepeng Mechas behind seemed to come to their senses.

No one expected that the Jiepeng Mechanic who was grabbed like a ragdoll by the Mecha, swinging back and forth with the Mecha’s arm, was the division commander of the 172nd Division, Level 9 Mecha Warrior Zhongshan Yi!

Whether it was the Jiepeng Mechanical Armor Battalion on both flanks or the retreating Chuckna Warriors on position 415, they were all dazzled by this flash of lightning and stunned by the pettiness of this Red Mecha who insisted on making one last strike before leaving.

When two hundred Mech Knights of the 172nd Division’s Special Forces Camp faced such a provocative act, not only did they not pursue but also hesitated to stop, looking at each other without firing a single shot, everyone began to vaguely feel that something seemed amiss.

The fallen Spirit Cat began to burn fiercely. The violent chain explosion emitted a white light that illuminated the valley. A circular shock wave wrapped in dust and smoke spread out along the ground in all directions. A small mushroom cloud, like water splashed by a giant rock, shot straight up into the sky and then rolled outwards.

When looking at the Red Mecha again, it had already scrambled into position 415.

Upon reaching the mountaintop, it arrogantly twisted its buttocks towards the foot of the mountain, then raised the Major General in its hand, showcasing him back and forth on the mountaintop.

At this, everyone could clearly see the Mechanic in his hand. The foot of the mountain fell into dead silence. On the mountaintop, after a moment, there erupted a clamor. Cheers, laughter, shouts, and whistles filled the air.

When the Jiepeng reinforcements arrived, everyone knew the battle was over.

Several officers, even disregarding safety regulations, couldn’t wait to crawl out of the shelter at the back of the position.

Position 415 was large, with densely packed trenches spreading westward. Empty, silent. The recently ended battle made the officers uncomfortable with this empty feeling in their hearts. However, they knew. The battle had just ended, and the soldiers were retreating. The nearly two-kilometer-deep position would take a while to traverse! They could only wait quietly.

Not knowing how much time had passed, the originally empty passageways saw the first wave of retreating warriors.

More and more people, like a tide, gathered from all passage entrances, flowing toward the back of the position. Soon, the entire position was filled with soldiers cheering and joyfully moving backward.

”To Area Three,” Li Cunxin stepped out of the bunker, waved, and took the lead towards Area Three where the returning Mechas were gathering. Behind him, Pei Litong and over a dozen officers followed closely.

The officers moved slowly through the crowd. The farther they went, the redder their eyes became.

In every trench, there were POWs returning alive, in tears, embracing their comrades.

”I thought I’d never see you again in this life!” an unkempt Corporal stood red-eyed in the crowd, repeatedly mumbling this sentence over and over, fragmented and nagging. However, no one laughed at him. His friends, his comrades went up to him one by one, hugging him, kissing his face.
