Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1185: Chapter 8-15: Breakout (Part 2)_3

Don’t mention that the current position has already been shattered; even if it were a newly constructed and intact position, it’s impossible to protect these ten or so people from defeating over a hundred well-prepared Jiepeng Soldiers!

The artillery covering the position is repeatedly plowing through it, and the warriors can vaguely see the Jiepeng people at the bottom of the hill, starting to stir. Perhaps, at the next artillery extension, they will charge at the fastest speed. It would take only a dozen seconds for them to rush to a position less than sixty meters in front of the position, and at the moment the artillery ceases, they would be at most less than forty meters away.

Forty meters... for a position without artillery counter-support, it almost means falling!

No one knows how large the casualties on the position have been amid a few rounds of artillery cover. Even if all survived, they would face an attack from an enemy ten times their number.

”One hundred and sixty-two people,” the little kid didn’t notice the changed expressions of the warriors beside him and sneered, ”even the civilians grabbed guns and charged, these Jiepeng people are all fucking crazy... don’t they know Fatty can’t be provoked?”

Fatty? Anthony opened his mouth but finally said nothing.

He doesn’t know who Fatty is, nor does he understand how this little boy could accurately know the number of the enemy when he could only vaguely see a few heads. All he knows is that the Jiepeng Army, known as the strongest in the universe, fights like this.

These Jiepeng people are the easiest to agitate in the universe. Their fanaticism has reached an incredible degree. For their so-called honor, for their pride, not only do civilians grab guns to charge, but there are even examples of medical staff from field hospitals charging against enemies a hundred times their number.

In extremely insane circumstances, these fanatics, who claim to be ready to die for the Jiepeng Emperor at any moment, almost commit suicide through charging.

Being known as the strongest army in the universe, aside from their self-boasting arrogance, is partly due to the brainwashing rule of their domestic Royal Family, and their traditional fanatical behavior once instigated!

The artilleryfire once again extends backward, and the Jiepeng soldiers on the hillside simultaneously leap up, madly sprinting upward.

Eighty meters, sixty meters, fifty meters... the covering artilleryfire finally stops. The charging Jiepeng soldiers let out a shout and began the final sprint under the command of two regimental officers!

Corleone is at the rear, Bernasera at the front. These two battalion commanders of the Jiepeng 2031 Brigade 2nd Regiment, First Battalion, looked almost insane.

Amid their hoarse and desperate shouts, more than 160 Jiepeng soldiers, with bloodshot eyes, frantically charged upwards. Their beast-like howls echoed throughout the valley, sending chills down one’s spine.

After nine hours, only six of the twenty self-propelled artillery remain, four of the thirty-eight Mecha, leaving just over a hundred people from a battalion of more than five hundred. A fully equipped infantry battalion dashed itself to pieces in front of this position.

Corleone could not accept this result.

By this point, he no longer had his usual neat and composed appearance. Under the escort of several guards, he was waving his gun, urging his soldiers with the most violent voice.

He will not accept failure, nor does he want reinforcements.

He wants personally to bathe this position in blood and cut every captured prisoner into pieces!

These damned Chuckna people have brought too much humiliation upon him, especially after the last attack, where more than two hundred people fled. If he cannot personally wash away this shame, he will become the laughingstock of all the nobles of Jiepeng. He will never be able to lift his head!

Corleone is not afraid of death.

Since joining the Jiepeng Royal Youth Army Guards Camp at the age of ten, he has never feared death.

He knows that the pent-up Jiepeng, with centuries of restraint, the tragic fate of his ancestors, who died with ambition unfulfilled, can finally end with his generation.

Since he was sensible, he knew that war would come in this era.

This is no secret, nor is it a delusion. It is the conclusion reached by generations of Jiepeng people who are constantly ready to send troops abroad to sweep the universe!

Such is the situation; the chaotic world is evident.

His generation of Jiepeng men can finally avoid the fate of watching the Mecha replacing missions rust in the barracks, watching the giants crafted with national resources waste away at the ports as their predecessors did.

To establish achievements, to open territories, now is the time!

For the glory of Your Majesty, the Jiepeng Emperor, and for the aging father who still embraces his concubine to cheer in the streets at Jiepeng’s dispatch of troops, kneeling without rise at the dock to see them off!

Corleone absolutely will not allow himself to fail or to return in disgrace, bringing shame to his family!

Upon yet another wave of attack, when his two companies retreated, he decided to wager everything on a single stroke.

All-in doesn’t mean he lost all rationality. He noticed the predicament of Chuckna’s position lacking Anti-Mechanical Weapons and also saw the fierceness of that patched-up Taixing Mecha.

So, he ordered four Mecha to flank the position from both sides beforehand, making it hard for that Taixing to defend both ends. Then, he commanded the self-propelled artillery to dump all the ammunition onto the position to provide cover for the final charge!
