Chapter 1169: Chapter 11: Battle in the Dust and Smoke (Part 2)

The gunfire thinned out.

The Jiepeng infantry crouched behind the jungle hills and rocks, relying on the slope of the hill to hide themselves.

Most of their officers had already fallen behind them. If it weren’t for that bloodthirsty, vicious lower-ranking noble threatening them with the harshest language on the regional communication channel, they would have retreated long ago.

They had never seen so many officers fall in battle before. That elusive sniper had cast an unshakable shadow over their hearts.

The fear of having a gun pointed at their heads at any moment felt like an invisible haze gathering from the corpses being sniped, suffocating them. It was a palpable, deathly aura they could feel and smell.

When everyone was charging, they still held onto a glimmer of hope. But when everyone was down on the ground, no one dared to stick their head out and become a target for that damned sniper.

Moreover, there was a Mecha.

On the frontline, just over a hundred meters wide, a Mecha was nearly invincible to infantry without fortification protection. The Jiepeng soldiers had every reason to wait. Without the covering fire of their Mecha, the enemy sniper’s efficiency was even higher. They were warriors, not Death Soldiers. According to the mech-infantry coordination rules, they should wait for their Mecha to first take out the opponent’s ragged Mecha.

The ragged Mecha charged towards Fushan.

Leaping out of its position, it first made a nimble maneuver, landing to the left front, then pushed off with its left foot, its body darting to the right front again.

Its zig-zagging maneuvers made it look like a silver lightning bolt. In the sizzling sound of electricity, it charged at the somewhat dumbfounded Fushan with the speed of a Thunderbolt.

The breaths of the Chuckna Warriors present became unusually rapid.

They saw that Fushan, snapping back to its senses, had already turned its gun barrel to lock onto the ragged Taixing. When the cannon wrapped in light strings suddenly brightened, their rapidly beating hearts felt as though they were being gripped fiercely by a hand!

This was just a Mecha cobbled together in twenty minutes with all sorts of parts! Facing the intact Fushan, it stood almost no chance of winning!

And now, the enemy had already fired!

Nash closed his eyes, pounding the ground with his fist. Shen Ming lowered his eyelids, muttering something unintelligible. Feng Laosi beside him stared fixedly at Fatty, while Sun Ping gritted his teeth and turned his head away tensely.

The Energy Cannon flashed past. Taixing’s body tilted slightly, dodging the shell with ease like a silver fox leaping through the forest.

The shell shot straight into the slope, creating an explosive blast that sent a tree root flying in all directions as a cloudburst of debris rained down amid the mud. The distance between Taixing and Fushan was now less than sixty meters!

The Mecha was so ragged, yet its movements were so elegant.

After a brief silence, a cheer erupted on the battlefield, resounding to the heavens!

”I’m a pig!” The Private First Class who had just been scolded stared blankly at the Corporal’s ecstatic eyes, giving himself a hard slap on the face.

He hadn’t hoped for a miracle. But at this moment, a miracle happened. That Mecha was repaired, stood up, jumped out of the position, and dodged the enemy’s shell! Winning or losing, who cares! This moment was already a victory!

”Open fire! Just shoot, dammit!” A hoarse voice suddenly erupted.

”Fire!” The Chuckna Warriors, snapping back to reality, gripped their triggers with trembling fingers. The gunfire, like a high-pitched symphony, reached its climax with the first note.

The web of bullets interwoven and fiercely attacked the Jiepeng soldiers on the hillside. In the storm-like barrage, dirt flew and rocks shattered, with every note in this gunfire and roaring crescendo being so powerful, intense, and deafening.

They wanted to accompany the Mecha Warrior charging at the enemy like lightning with this gunfire, to lead him on his heroic journey!

Amid the suddenly intense gunfire, the distance between Taixing and Fushan grew closer and closer.

”Kill!”

Cosmo suddenly pulled the control lever, and the Mecha pivoted sharply, charging at the enemy like a cannonball.

”Trash, courting death!”

A cold snort came from Fushan’s loudspeaker.

All the Jiepeng people, including Corleone on the attack frontline, found it somewhat absurd... a ragged Mecha that looked like it would fall apart anytime dared to charge at the Jiepeng medium Single Soldier Mecha Fushan?!

In modern warfare, the performance of a Mecha is the biggest factor in determining the victory or defeat in combat. Performance-wise, Fushan and Taixing were originally evenly matched. If Taixing were a complete Mecha, it would be uncertain who would win. But looking at it now...

This had nothing to do with arrogance or conceit; it was common sense! A Mecha is a war weapon, not a toy! Who would believe that a Mecha, with even different-sized mechanical legs, could win in a life-and-death duel?!

The Fushan Mecha Warrior snorted coldly. He stepped forward with a powerful Charge Punch, aimed straight for Taixing’s chest.

As a Level 5 Mecha Warrior, he had been through countless battles, facing countless fallen enemies.

Among them, there were many Advanced Mechas, many strong foes! Yet never an idiot piloting such a cobbled-together Mecha! Though he couldn’t compare with the Armored Division’s Mecha Warriors, within the Mechanical Infantry, he was definitely considered an expert.

He wanted to shatter the cobbled parts of the Mecha before him into a rain of iron, to pulverize the last shred of hope pieced together by the Chuckna people!

”Boom!”

The collision of the two Mechas was like a giant bomb exploding in the jungle.

The piercing sound of metal striking metal was soul-stirring. The shockwave whipped up clouds of dust, violently shaking the denuded branches around, tearing the last few leaves off the branches, sending them flying into the sky with the drifting dust.

The warriors on both sides held their breaths.

The dust obscured their view, and in the deafening clash, they only saw the two black shadows fiercely battling amidst the spreading dust.

A large tree was snapped, crashing down. A huge boulder shattered into countless pieces flung in all directions. The earth trembled under the frenzied steps of the Mechas, as fists and feet tore through the air with a shrill whistle, stirring up a raging wind.

”Five... four... three...”

Fatty half-crouched in the trench, changing the magazine of his sniper rifle.

He was covered in mud, with sweat carving grooves on his face. Over his green military shirt, he wore a cold-weather vest, his blue pant legs tucked into boots, the knees already worn into holes.

Beside him, two or three injured Chuckna soldiers stared at him without blinking, listening to his steady countdown.

After loading the magazine, reopening the Energy Burst Device, Fatty glanced at the injured soldiers with a grin, counting to himself: ”...two... one.”

The violent clangor of metal ceased abruptly! Amidst the endless smoke and cannon fire, the ragged Taixing emerged like a demon god from the depths of hell, breaking out of the pervasive dust and smoke.

It strode towards the frontline.

The swirling dust, whipped by the mountain forest’s chaotic winds, followed and flared behind it.

All eyes were fixed on its hands. The Chuckna Warriors bit down hard on their teeth, trembling with excitement, while the Jiepeng soldiers lying on the hillside began to retreat one by one. First, one or two slid down, then more joined the slide, finally leading to a chaotic, headlong retreat of three whole lines of skirmishers!

In less than twenty seconds! The once-arrogant Fushan had turned into a limp dead dog in Taixing’s hands!

The celebrations erupted like thunder. Dozens of ecstatic men shouted at the top of their lungs.

The frontline was ablaze with joy.
