Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1162: Chapter 8: Surrounded_2

A few Chuckna warriors turned back and saw a group of mixed soldiers slouching with their guns, looking rather nonchalant, and couldn’t help but feel anger rising in their hearts. Each let out a cold snort, turned around, passed through the communication trench, and ran towards the shelter trench. The battle had reached such a point that no one expected to return alive. These mixed soldiers in blue uniforms, even on the brink of death, were still playing petty tricks—they deserved to die!

The Chuckna soldiers scattered. The ones who remained were Nash, Sunx Ping, Feng Laos, Jonathan, and Shen Ming.

The first four were full of doubts, yet vaguely hoped for something. Shen Ming squatted on the side, arms folded, watching coldly. He was keen to see what kind of show this Fatty intended to put on with a repair arm lacking schematics and data.

Fatty attached the repair arm to his right forearm and flipped the switch. Seeing the green light of the repair arm turn on, three bandit army mechanics familiar with Fatty’s control skills held their breath, not daring to make a sound. Eyes full of expectation glistened brightly.

Fatty took a deep breath, and gently moved the fingers of his right hand.

The protective cover of the mechanical arm slid open with a ”zu” sound, and four mechanical arms suddenly sprang out from the mechanical arm. Like octopus tentacles, they flexibly reached into the mech body’s holes...

With sparks flying, Shen Ming suddenly stood up!

Fatty’s left hand danced on the mechanical arm’s computer keyboard. Intersecting lines and data appeared on the small screen of the repair arm. The mechanical arms, weaving phantoms, dazzled the eyes and made it hard to follow.

Witnessing this scene, Nash and the others appeared as if they had seen Medusa’s face, all turning to stone.

”Grandmaster-level mechanic...” a lost voice sounded in their ears. Turning back, they found Shen Ming’s eyes had already glazed over, his face flushed red as he murmured like he was in a trance.

The drive assembly inside the mech’s belly hole was opened by two mechanical arms, while the other two mechanically pressed lightly to fix the gear set that was about to jump out in place. Then, the mechanical hand at the forefront lightly dialed, clicked, welded, and riveted... Brief moments later, with the last nut tightened, the entire drive assembly looked brand new.

Next, Fatty’s mechanical arm turned again, now focusing on the kinetic energy storage at the mech’s chest. Equally unhesitating, the mechanical arm moving faster than the eye could see, took parts and circuit boards from the hole, reshaped, repaired, welded, and placed each piece back. The once chaotic wires now became clear and orderly through the flexible mechanical hand.

Every eyeball present followed Fatty’s hand in circles.

No one could quite describe the Chuckna people’s shock and awe at that moment—because of Fatty’s incomprehensible control, and Shen Ming’s dry yet immensely impactful ”Grandmaster-level mechanic”!

The world contained thousands recognized as master-level mechanics, but only a scant few hundred were dubbed grandmasters. They were treasures, kept in military academies, top-secret research institutes! None expected one would be squatting in a bomb-charred mech trench!

Shen Ming never lied. Nor did he make hasty judgments. His obsession with and dedication to mechanics, his in-depth seriousness and stubbornness, all ensured the weight of every word he said!

In this world, none understood Shen Ming better than Nash and the others. Right is right, wrong is wrong. Compromise never existed in Shen Ming’s dictionary! It was the essence of a technician, forged and tempered into steel over countless trials.

Shen Ming watched Fatty’s repair arm in fascination. This silver-white contraption, once so familiar was now brought to life. It was Fatty who bestowed vitality unto it.

Prior to this, Shen Ming had repaired thousands of drive assemblies and kinetic storage units, believing his skills ranked among the best in the Mechanical Armor Team or even the entire crew of mechanic soldiers. Yet today, his professional pride as a mechanic was shattered by everything happening before him!

If Fatty took under three minutes to repair a drive assembly with relatively minor damage, Shen Ming could still accept it. But, for the intricately complex kinetic energy storage, when forty percent damaged, Fatty managed to fix it within five minutes—it left Shen Ming disbelieving his own eyes. More unbelievable still was that all this was done without schematics for the repair arm.

Shen Ming clutched the storage unit in his hand as if holding scalding charcoal. An unparalleled shame mingled with his fervent blood, rushing straight to his head.

Fatty continued to focus on repairing the mech.

This wasn’t the first mech he repaired, nor the best one, but to him, it was certainly the most important one! Everybody’s life on this battlefield depended on this mech. The moment he saw the mech, he knew survival meant using everything he’s got!

His movements carried elegance, akin to a skilled butcher with flowing grace. The damaged areas of the mech visibly healed before the naked eye at almost impossible speed.
