Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1180: Chapter 14: Breakout (Part 1)_2

The two Chuckna Divisions that are still resisting are holding on because they have received reinforcements from scattered soldiers and stationed troops along the way.

As the residents of Canglang Star gaze at the silent and desolate city, observe the anxious faces of their wives and children, and consider the map, imagining the fate of the two Chuckna Divisions, all they can do is pray for the counter-offensive to come soon. They hope that these two Chuckna Divisions can bring some warmth and vigor to these difficult days.

A broad animal-shaped Command Mecha, like an eight-legged stallion, is swiftly moving through the street.

In front and behind, forty Jiepeng Ninth Generation [Spirit Cat] human-shaped Single Soldier Mechas are quickly leaping and running over the street ruins with their renowned cat-like soft steps.

Jiepeng Admiral Zeckxis Parent rubbed his slightly aching waist and turned his gaze away from the silent city streets outside the window, looking at the Army Vice Admiral Sade Magee who stood before him with respect. He furrowed his brow slightly and said in a very slow voice: ”Has the battle in Karachi not ended yet?”

Magee’s eyebrows twitched slightly, and he hurriedly replied: ”Admiral, our forces have already occupied Hot Spring Town and Kaff Town upstream in Karachi, cutting off the enemy’s retreat paths and surrounding them completely. On the periphery, we have two Armored Divisions and three Infantry Divisions stationed along the line. The enemy’s 13th Armored Division and 51st Mechanized Infantry Division are trapped like turtles in a jar!”

”Turtles in a jar!” Parent snorted coldly and his sparse yellow eyebrows suddenly bristled bizarrely: ”It has taken you a whole ten days to catch these two trapped turtles!”

”I’m sorry, General.” Magee clicked his heels together, fearfully standing at attention.

”How much longer do I have to wait before I can report to General Mikami Yuto?”

Parent’s anger came swiftly and went swiftly, making it unpredictable. His voice became slow and indistinct again. Seemingly talking to himself, he drooped his eyelids and his erect eyebrows drooped again.

”Two days!” Magee did not dare hesitate and firmly replied: ”The enemy’s first line of defense has been completely breached by our forces. Once we pierce through their current second line of defense, they’ll only have a narrow strip less than two kilometers wide by the Karachi River to retreat to, awaiting their fate.”

”Hit them hard,” Parent waved his hand lightly as if shooing away an insignificant fly: ”It’s our first arrival, we need to show some attitude.”

His gaze once again drifted to the mecha’s porthole. A Mechanical Battalion was passing through an intersection, and the armed Jiepeng soldiers solemnly saluted the Command Mecha. The young soldier still held several temporary pass certificates in his hand, and behind him, a line of Chuckna civilians queued obediently, like a flock of startled quails.

Soldiers and civilians quickly disappeared into the distance.

”Once this battle is over, these Chuckna people will understand the standards we hold.”

Parent’s mouth curled into a cold smile: ”Perhaps they already know, but they don’t realize how serious we are! There are always some people who hold onto a fluke.”

A building retreated from the window view. The seven-story building had half-collapsed. Through a large hole in the outer wall, a corpse whose clothes had become ragged strips lay helplessly on a desk.

This scene flashed before Magee’s eyes, causing him to lower his head.

”Yes, General!”

”General,” Nash settled onto the arm of the [Fushan] Mecha, loosening the strap of his tactical helmet from under his chin and scratching his disheveled hair: ”What should we do next?”

When Nash was asking for instructions, his demeanor and tone were natural. It felt as if Fatty was the commander he had always followed.

This was an unquestioning acceptance. Regarding this Leray Major General who had dropped from the sky, Nash felt nothing but boundless admiration and did not harbor even a crumb of doubt.

Compared to Nash, Fatty was quite young, perhaps around twenty-five or twenty-six.

Nash had many youths of this age under his command. Some were veterans who had fought alongside him for over a year, while others were new recruits recently added to the company. He’d encountered many whose rank surpassed his. Most were top students from the Military Academy, who spent two years completing basic training and then emerged as junior officers, brimming with ambition.

Ordinarily, Nash might not even bother to glance at this fair-skinned and loud Fatty. Even for Major Generals, in the view of warriors who tread the line between life and death, it was nothing remarkable. Such types may boast and strategize on maps, overflowing with clever plans, but once on the battlefield, they’re confused and dumbstruck, and Nash had seen many like them.

Honestly, when he heard Sunx Ping describe encountering Fatty, Nash didn’t quite believe it. But what he just witnessed in the trench was enough for him to understand what kind of person this seemingly unimpressive Leray Major General was.

Nash wasn’t familiar with the mechanics side, but he was a seasoned fighter. Watching Fatty run and shoot on the battlefield, Nash recognized that this Fatty was not a mere ordinary person. He was unmistakably a terrifying, ruthless ace sniper rolled out from piles of corpses. In Fatty’s hands, that sniper rifle became the scythe of the Grim Reaper!

Nash had played with sniper rifles himself, but frankly, he wasn’t as good as Feng Laos.

Defeating a static target a few hundred meters away was achievable. But to eliminate a moving target from two to three kilometers away like Feng Laos, was beyond his ability.
