Counterfeit Hero

”We can win!” The man firmly embraced his woman and child, shielding them from the wind on the balcony with his broad chest, giving the woman hope with the most resolute voice, ”We will definitely win!”

”Boom!” A loud explosion suddenly came from the southwest direction of Puluo Town. The couple standing together, as well as the soldiers and residents on the street, all abruptly turned their heads to look in the direction of the sound.

To their shock, they found that within the blink of an eye, the southwestern sky was illuminated by a series of flickering lights. The intense sounds of explosions and artillery fire shattered the night’s silence at once, as if tens of thousands of thunderbolts were erupting simultaneously, shaking the earth continuously and endlessly!

”Wah!” The child in the woman’s arms was startled awake. With closed eyes, waving tiny hands, it cried incessantly.

In her husband’s strong embrace, the woman turned around, gently lifted her clothes, and placed her nipple into the child’s mouth.

Tears suddenly began to fall.

She didn’t know whether her child would have the chance to grow up.

Stealthily making their way, the Super Spearhead Battalion, led by Fatty, silently approached the core area of Central City’s North Second District under the cover of night.

Once prosperous, North Second District had become a no-man’s land. Everywhere one looked, it was desolate.

Except for the sturdy Space City, more than half of the surrounding residential and commercial buildings had collapsed. On top of the mountain of rubble, twisted metal frames stood alone. The walls of the buildings were riddled with large holes from shell impacts. The rebar in the concrete was exposed, pulling at the fallen walls, teetering precariously. A gentle breeze blew through, stirring up fine white dust over the ruins, while papers and trash swirled along the street, blown from one end to the other.

Fifty cyan Mechas silently turned into a small community and came to a halt. After passing through five non-Northern Alliance power defense zones and Northern Alliance’s external observation lines, not far ahead was the Northern Alliance’s defense line.

The entire community had been deserted. Without opening the cockpit, the warriors could smell the pervasive stench in the air. From the remnants of the garden, one could imagine the peaceful and elegant environment before the war. But now, the buildings had collapsed, tall trees were broken, the flowers and plants in the garden had withered, leaving a ground full of debris.

”Everyone open the map file I sent...” Fatty began the pre-battle briefing over the communication channel: ”The red triangle marker labeled number one in the upper left corner is the base of Northern Alliance’s subordinate forces, the former Warrior Mercenary Group, and it’s our primary attack target for this operation.

This base is currently the enemy’s main base. The Blood Shadow Mecha Group has three battalions stationed here. According to our observation points in Central City, many heavy trucks come and go here. Except for the west side of the city, Central City is basically controlled by the Northern Alliance, making this base, which radiates the West District frontline, the enemy’s material center. Our task is to completely destroy it!”

Saying this, Fatty clicked on the operational plan at the top of the map.

One by one, the combat routes, timing, attack methods, and other data refreshed on the mech knights’ computers.

Fatty said, ”Now, let’s talk about the specific steps of the operation. First, at 5 AM, we will launch an assault on the enemy’s line on Perfume Street, and then quickly move northeast. By 5:10 AM, we will pass the Inner River Bridge, concentrate our firepower to destroy the bridge, and block the enemy infantry’s attack. Then, we will move southeast along the riverfront area, avoiding any engagement with the enemy troops along the way, aiming to reach 5:20 AM...”

The mechanical warriors listened carefully to Fatty’s deployment. The entire operation was broken down very meticulously by Fatty, with ample backup plans prepared for unforeseen situations... Gradually, the outline of an incredible raid operation appeared before everyone.

Completely destroy! This Fatty wasn’t just joking. His plan accounted for almost all possible scenarios and enemy mobilization routes, timing gaps, troop strengths... his action was in constant motion, aiming to...

”The operation plan is codenamed,” Fatty said with a sneering smile, voicing the word everyone had in their minds: ”...Excruciating Torment!”

Recalling the details of the combat plan carefully, everyone’s eyes gradually lit up. A rush of blood went straight to their heads. To carry out such an operation, even if it were to fail, would still be earth-shattering!

”Alright, now hurry and relieve yourselves on the spot! Half an hour later, attack!” With Fatty’s order, a group of men, already bursting with urgency, scattered immediately.

Opening the cockpit, pulling out his little guy, Fatty eagerly let loose against the wind. Suddenly, the urgent communicator’s beep sounded.

Was it Markovich or the Puluo Town base? Anyway, it was set to connect automatically, so Fatty did not turn around, lowered his head, and concentrated on the operation. A cold wind swept by, making his round body quiver...

Damn, lucky to have dodged in time, almost got blown back by the wind... huh? The woman on the screen looks familiar... what’s she glancing at under me?

Seeing Fatty’s bewildered look, Fang Xiang was nearly driven mad.

She hadn’t expected that upon connecting the communication, what she would see was...

Completely unprepared, she was just staring blankly at Fatty, who was back to her, head down, shivering, speculating what he was doing, when suddenly... this guy jumped up and turned around... beside her were more than ten senior officers!
