Counterfeit Hero

Other mistakes aside, just these two were fatal enough.

Right now, though the pirate fleet has taken some losses, they are nowhere near collapsing! Not to mention, this ragged fleet lacks the ability to break through the pirate formation; even if they did, they wouldn’t have enough power to cut through and annihilate them. If they lost their mobility and got tangled up with the pirates, it would be a death sentence.

Under everyone’s complex gaze, the pirate fleet withdrew their formation as expected. And that ragged fleet was still stiffly pressing forward along its original trajectory.

Three thousand kilometers... two thousand kilometers... one thousand kilometers... eight hundred and fifty kilometers... six hundred kilometers...

In the silence, suddenly, a radar operator cried out: ”My God, they’re accelerating!”

Yes, without the radar operator’s reminder, everyone could see it.

In that instant, with seven ion beams abruptly brightening, the ragged fleet surged forward as if someone had given it a hard push, with its speed sharply increasing!

Time seemed to freeze.

Everyone stared dumbfounded at the seven arrows shot out like bolts of lightning. Shock, confusion, astonishment, speechlessness... all kinds of expressions frozen on their faces.

But the most shocked people were naturally the Demon’s Eye Pirate Group directly in front of the ragged fleet’s course.

Steelman was leading the fleet back to the base at the risk of Kubo’s punishment.

This was his foundation; he could not afford to lose it! Therefore, regardless of Tai Sect’s situation, he led the fleet on a forced march and had even engaged in a brief but fierce battle with the relentless Redbeard Pirates along the way, losing one armed merchant ship, two torpedo boats, and two raiders.

However, all these troubles turned into wild joy when he saw that solitary Longbow-class heavy cruiser.

Steelman wanted that cruiser. His North Star-class cruiser had been eyeing the Longbow-class heavy cruiser, positioned at the forefront of the attacking formation. When the ragged fleet suddenly launched an assault, Steelman almost had that Longbow in his grasp.

At that moment, Steelman’s heart was in his throat. He thought the attacking fleet was his opponent’s ambush; after all, even though Demon’s Eye’s armed merchant ship was not military-grade, the fleet of the Free World equipped with mixed cannons could not have such powerful and precise firepower to destroy it in one shot.

If it was an ally of that Longbow, Steelman’s only choice would be to abandon the base and flee.

But when he clearly saw the appearance of the raiding fleet, he was almost mad with fury.

The attackers were several pieces of scrap that should be in a junkyard! This was simply reckless! The funniest thing was that these seven warships were actually attempting to approach his fleet. It was unclear whether they wanted to engage in close-quarter combat or break into formation and slaughter!

Whatever the case, in Steelman’s eyes, it was suicidal!

The second salvo from the ragged fleet pained Steelman but also made him resolute! He wanted to teach these rookies that just having energy cannons from who-knows-where wouldn’t allow them to stride unhindered across the universe!

He quickly issued an order for the flanks to retract in the middle... Then he stood there trembling all over, mouth agape, eyes bulging, expressing his utter horror with an almost ridiculous look.

”What do they want to do?” Steelman shouted hysterically, looking at the seven ragged warships rushing toward his fleet.

No one could answer him; this was the question on everyone’s mind.

”What do they want to do?”

Everyone on the Napoleon-class battleship was stunned by everything that was happening and the sudden thought that popped into their heads. They held their breath, feeling their hearts pounding uncontrollably, faster and faster, thumping loudly.

The satellite images relayed back appeared simultaneously on every virtual screen in every corner of the battleship. Whether it was the bridge control room, the corridors, the rest cabins, the engine room, the lifts, the torpedo rooms... everything was dead silent. Prayers, sobs, sighs... all manner of sounds had ceased. Only the flickering light from the virtual screens flashed silently, reflecting off the metal walls, machines, bunks, and the faces of the officers and soldiers, going bright and dim intermittently.

In a flash, the ragged fleet, under everyone’s eyes, crashed headlong into the pirate fleet.

”My God!”

”Heavens!”

”These lunatics!”

Listening to the various exclamations in her ears, Fang Xiang covered her mouth tightly.

She saw the image on the virtual screen suddenly freeze. Then, several warships at the rear of the pirate fleet were shattered by the ramming beaks of the ragged fleet.

Some were rammed amidships, splitting the warship into two. Some were rammed at the stern, where the energy of the thrusters caused an explosion, and the ferocious inertia pushed the warship diagonally, colliding with the adjacent warship. Several escort ships and torpedo boats were directly smashed to pieces!

In the close-up images, large and small ship bodies, armor, and bodies spun outwardly and disappeared rapidly at the edge of the screen.

This was a disaster!

And yet, the culprits who caused this disaster remained unscathed!

When looking at these ragged warships again, everyone’s faces and gazes had changed. Their battered hulls remained unchanged, and they advanced highspiritedly through the pirate fleet. Their energy cannons unleashed ferocious firepower. They were like a pack of wolves rampaging within the sheepfold, firing recklessly!
