Counterfeit Hero

But, just because no one dares to manufacture it, doesn’t mean no one dares to research it!

Especially for a group of mad scientists! Many of them didn’t come to the Free World because of crimes; the main reason they came here is that there are no restrictions from mainstream society! They can conduct any experiment they want here!

Of course, these experiments are top secret. They exist only in the most secret laboratories, or even just in the minds of the scientists. They have never been exposed, let alone sold for money. Their existence is the most important meaning in these scientists’ lives, the greatest accolade of their achievements!

To the scientists, these research results are more important than life! They will do whatever it takes to complete them and keep them secret.

Take ordinary energy weapons, for instance. Among these scientists from various star domains in the universe, there are many who understand the complete production process. If they wanted to, energy weapons would have flooded the Free World long ago. But compared to what they are researching, the manufacturing of ordinary energy weapons is nothing more than a trivial skill.

They would never destroy their own research for such self-harming things. They have more important work to do. They are eager to research artificial intelligence, gene recombination, orc embryos, the elixir of eternal youth, creating black holes, destroying the universe... researching why women have hymens.

They are idiots, madmen, and geniuses. In addition to those jaw-dropping research projects, they also study improvement theories for energy weapons, tougher metal materials, various systems of mechas, electronic attack methods and new encryption communication systems, new spacecraft, radar and stealth technology…

Although these things are kept secret, they truly exist in these laboratories of the Free World!

Gaining these people, gaining the research results accumulated over the years by these people, was an absolutely unexpected gain for Fatty. When they set off for Silicon Valley, he couldn’t imagine that these madmen had these things. Many of those projects, if known to the Human Supreme Council, would mean execution by hanging!

Fortunately, these madmen never thought of making their research results public. At least in their lifetimes, they didn’t have such thoughts. Also, fortunately, these things fell into Fatty’s hands. And these gains directly boosted the combat power of the bandit army!

Back then, during the technical meeting for designing the ”Sword” mecha modification, after seeing the technology provided by the major studios, Fatty went back to his room and laughed with Helen for two straight hours, laughing until Helen’s face turned pale and she grabbed an energy gun…

Take the current Pingqi Ridge battle, for example. The reason why Fatty dared to hand over the battle plan to Markovich without batting an eye was not only because he had enough trust in the Ninth Generation Mechas and these advanced mecha warriors who could astonish the world, but more importantly, the bandit army possessed the miniature interference flying devices developed by Clover Studio.

These interferers, originally used for space battleship combat, were the key to the entire battle.

The infantry conducting defensive battles in the early stages had an important task besides creating the illusion on the battlefield: to spread the miniature interference devices, ten per person, all over the battlefield!

It was these miniature interference devices that became the downfall of the two electronic mech squads of the Suss Armored Group, who had an absolute advantage. The more they trusted the information obtained by their electronic mechas, their communication and interference advantages, the worse they lost. Thousands of miniature interference devices were enough to turn the entire battlefield, spanning tens of kilometers, into an electronic no-man’s land!

Fatty scratched his sunburned and itchy belly, turned over into the cockpit, and opened the electronic sandbox program on the control console computer.

At five in the afternoon, at this time, the Suss Armored Group should have already taken the bait.

The electronic sandbox in the mecha computer appeared before him, and Fatty sighed dejectedly.

The new mecha, modeled after his appearance, was finally named ”Ranger”. The slick name ”Handsome Man” was collectively vetoed, which made Fatty very frustrated… Ranger it is, it’s far better than those science nerds’ names like ”Fat Cat”, ”Bajie”, ”Demon Buou”.

This mecha, commissioned to the Galaxy Mecha Company for manufacturing, had most of its technology coming from ”Logic” and ”Divine”. The blueprints provided to Galaxy Mecha Company back then were for the structural main body of the mecha.

When the classic humanoid structure of ”Magic Beast” combined with the system technology of ”Divine”, and the cutting-edge technology from various studios, the final assembly of ”Ranger” at this moment had already surpassed the initial ”Divine” in all data! After installing the magnetic instrument, Fatty himself didn’t even know which generation of mecha ”Ranger” belonged to now. He only knew that the performance of the Ranger could no longer be measured by the standards of modern mechas.

This is the core strength of the bandit army.

And today, this strength will be fully unleashed.

If we are going to fight, let’s make it a beautiful fight!

Fatty’s gaze was fixed on the electronic sandbox. The sandbox displayed the terrain around Puluo Town. Now, three red arrows were pointing straight at Puluo Town from the south, east, and northeast directions.

Fatty chuckled twice. The Northern Commerce Alliance picked the right time and direction for this attack. If the bandit army were still the same as the Absolute Kill Stream armed forces, if the bandit army were still the small force of one hundred and twenty mechas as it was before, this attack from the Northern Alliance would have been fatal. But now, they underestimated the bandit army too much!

The four armored camps from the Blood Shadow Mecha Group are the core force of the Northern Commerce Alliance. The two mixed formation groups advancing southwest from the Northern Industrial Zone of Central City are also elite troops that have clashed fiercely with the Three Major Schools multiple times. Plus, with the two armored groups of the Suss Empire advancing strongly from the south, no force in the Free World could stop them!

Unfortunately, Selwal didn’t realize that the bandit army now is no longer the bandit army of the past! The tug-of-war between him and the Three Major Schools gave the bandit army the opportunity to develop and grow!

”Such a small force wants to defeat me.” Fatty’s mouth almost reached his ears as he sneered disdainfully. Since confirming the enemy’s forces, Fatty had been contemplating playing a big game. Puluo Town was too small, the strategic space was insufficient for maneuvering. Once the Suss Empire’s heavy troops advanced, it would immediately become a deathtrap!

Therefore, Fatty wanted to use this battle to open up a strategic space for the survival of the bandit army.

While sketching on the electronic sandbox, suddenly, the communication channel crackled with reports from the scouts stationed around.

”Colonel!” The mecha warrior responsible for reporting sounded so excited he was trembling: ”The Northern Alliance’s Armored Camp has appeared!”

”They’re here?” Fatty looked up at the radar display. A few minutes later, a flashing cursor appeared at the edge of the radar screen, followed by the cursor becoming five, ten, more and more.

Fatty opened the long-range viewer. Through the foliage, he looked into the distance. The fields stretched endlessly across the plains on the other side of the Lorenzo River. The crops in the fields were half a person tall, with broad leaves tilted upwards, swaying gently in the breeze. The whole scene looked like waves rippling.

And on the slightly undulating horizon, a few red mechas appeared. These were very good-looking mechas. Sleek bodies, streamlined shells, even the external armor was meticulously designed and decorated, with every line full of a sense of power.

The dozens of mechas at the front were in combat mode, while the identical mechas behind them were in road transit mode. Their bodies were not unfolded, their legs folded together, the tracks on their thighs and the wheels on their calves slowly turning. Among the mechas, there were also heavy trucks and maintenance and automatic supply vehicles fitted with mechanical arms. The convoy moved slowly along the inter-district highway, one after another. A few minutes later, the entire highway turned into a moving sea of red.

”Two camps?”

When the scout’s statistical data appeared on Fatty’s computer, he couldn’t help but frown.

Where did the other two camps go?
