Counterfeit Hero

”Although the enemy is in Central City, with a large number of troops, if we calculate carefully, we will find that most of these troops are pinned down!” Fatty pointed at several points on the map and said, ”We can ignore the general mechanical infantry groups; the only thing we need to pay attention to are the three armored camps defending their base. These are the main forces of the Blood Shadow Mecha Group, which have just been equipped with Suss Standard Energy Cannons. Their strength is not to be underestimated.”

Speaking of another raid, this time, though everyone felt a little uneasy, no one questioned it aloud. They knew that despite Fatty’s usual lack of seriousness, he could be relied upon more than anyone at critical moments. He would never do something stupid like walking into a trap.

”You may not be very familiar with our bandit army’s traditions,” Fatty looked around and lowered his voice, earnestly instructing, ”We believe in poisoning, trickery, sneaking attacks, and ambushes. Hence, our operation this time must revolve around these twelve words. As for the tactics, there are another twenty words – ’when the enemy advances, we retreat; when the enemy retreats, we pursue; when the enemy stands still, we harass; when the enemy is tired, we attack; when the enemy runs, we chase.’”

”What kind of tactic is that?” Kolt asked, unfamiliar with it.

”Rogue tactics!” Fatty explained.

”Rogue tactics?” Kolt widened his eyes, clearly not expecting such tactics in military warfare. Scratching his head, he asked, ”What does it mean, ’when the enemy does something, we do something’?”

”If you can’t remember, just think of it like this... ’When the enemy advances, we retreat; when the enemy retreats, we pursue...’” Fatty started elaborating enthusiastically, ”It’s like dancing with a wicked woman. When she steps forward, you naturally step back. When she steps back, you step forward, always maintaining an ambiguous distance...”

Kolt nodded vigorously as Fatty continued his nonsense, ”When the enemy stands still, we harass. Now there’s some change. The music isn’t over yet, you’re getting heated up with her, but suddenly she stops dancing. Of course, you take the opportunity to harass her and ask why.”

”Exactly.” Kolt was deep in thought, slapped his thigh, and said bluntly, ”If she can’t give a good reason and tries to fool me, I’ll beat her up!”

”That’s what ’when the enemy is tired, we attack’ means!” Fatty also slapped his thigh, ”Saying she’s tired is clearly not a valid excuse.”

”If she gets beaten up, she’ll surely run, then I’ll chase her and beat her again.” Kolt inferred, ”That’s ’when the enemy runs, we chase,’ right?”

”Exactly!” Fatty concluded, ”So, tell me, if this isn’t rogue tactics, what is? We’ll just use this to mess with those Northern Alliance bastards!”

”That’s really rogue.” Kolt was dumbfounded for a moment, clicking his tongue with a grin.

In the pitch-black forest, a group of people laughed to the point of falling over. The dangerous journey ahead suddenly seemed a bit less frightening.

At ten o’clock in the evening, after chatting and smoking their last cigarette, fifty Rangers left Lorenzo No. 5 Bridge, advancing eastward in mecha stealth mode. Under the cover of darkness, they would pass through the Lorenzo Agricultural Zone and enter Central City from the northwest.

The stars in the sky were like diamonds. The weak starlight made the fifty figures galloping across the plains look like Dark Night Elves sprinkled with silver dust, chasing their prey in the dark—if they didn’t have those exaggerated bellies...

Fatty, driving the No.1 mecha, charged at the front of the team. Five kilometers behind him was the main force of the Super Spearhead Battalion. Fatty kept the speed high, constantly changing directions, choosing the most concealed routes. No matter how he changed direction, the team behind him remained perfectly organized.

Fatty felt a smug satisfaction. This was a super armored unit composed of mech knights above the level of Mechanical Commander! You couldn’t find a second such unit in the whole universe! Even though various nations had elevated close-combat training for mecha to a strategic level and were desperately cultivating high-level mecha warriors, they could only significantly increase the number of Level 7 and Level 8 warriors. There were still only a few hundred Level 9 mecha warriors worldwide.

But behind him were fifty Level 10 mecha warriors, several of whom had reached a hand speed of over sixty movements per second. Anyone who saw such an army would drool with envy!

With another year and a half, the bandit army’s combat strength would be even more formidable. The most common mechanical warriors and mechanical knights were making rapid progress under the influence of mecha martial arts. Their training bottlenecks in their respective schools had long been broken through. Their level upgrades could be described as skyrocketing.

Additionally, with the augmentation effect of mecha martial arts on hand speed, the current bandit army could be considered elite land forces in any country.

Now, they just needed to sharpen this blade on the whetstone of the Free World!

After rigorous training according to the soldier’s manual, accumulating combat experience, understanding combat procedures, and seeing blood, they would have the power to change the world.

The Rangers ran lightly. In stealth mode, their footsteps were as silent as those of a feline.

The four-circuit dual-engine maintained a low consumption level, and its powerful performance was not even close to being fully utilized.

The new suspension and shock absorption system developed by the Black Devil Laboratory, combined with the 24-layer composite filled metal from Popov Studio, added a strange flexibility to the originally rigid and sturdy mecha.

The multi-body transmission system from Terrain Dragon Studio precisely transmitted engine power to every part of the body without any unnecessary consumption. The data on the computer would make any mecha enthusiast’s eyes red with envy.

The bionic drive from Mueller Studio did not give the Rangers reverse-joint legs. However, combined with the drive system from Casper’s Work Journal, the Rangers’ running performance exceeded Divine by 32%.

Clover Studio, Titan Studio, Constantine Studio, Yake Studio, Pyramid Studio... The wisdom of the Free World and Casper, along with Fatty’s experience, created a mecha that surpassed evaluation standards.

Fifty mechas moved like fifty Spirit Cats. They stretched their limbs and muscles, tightening and relaxing under sleek metal skins.

At two o’clock in the morning, led by Fatty, the Super Spearhead Battalion crossed the Lorenzo Agricultural Triangle and entered the southwest of Central City.

Fatty raised his fist.

The mechas behind him stopped.

Through the long-range viewer, towering Space Cities loomed ten kilometers ahead, barely visible in the darkness. That was the Extreme Mercenary Corps’ defensive line.

Fatty checked the time; there were still five hours until dawn. They needed to reach the core commercial area of Central City before sunrise.

Along the way, there were five forces they couldn’t avoid!

Looking at the Space Cities averaging around 2300 meters in height, Fatty grinned and ordered, ”Activate the Hummingbird propeller, deploy the light-blocking shields, and let’s jump in!”
