Counterfeit Hero

Cosmo’s left hand pushed the universal control stick violently into fifth gear second-level engine position. The finger tightly gripping the energy cannon launcher on the control stick lost its color due to excessive force. His right thumb pressed the C4 key for leg transmission, while his other four fingers, centered around the thumb, quickly jumped between A2 to B8 keys.

This was the arc jump-finger technique taught by Colonel Fatty—an irregular stepping maneuver coordinated with cross-target fan-shaped shooting in front-line group combat.

[Sword] with its majestic body continuously shifted directions amidst the unhindered cannon fire and the scattered mecha debris. Agile like a running fox in the forest. Its inconsistent running pace and sudden direction changes always found gaps in the energy cannon fire webs.

Countless explosions resounded at the feet of [Sword]. The layer of energy shield light like azure lake water on the mecha’s exterior undulated in the blast shockwaves, quickly changing colors. The entire mecha was covered in yellow dust, with various colors and scars formed for different reasons, crisscrossed all over.

The ugly 260mm large-caliber energy cannon of [Sword] was frantically jolting, accompanied by the rhythm of the jolting, clusters of white light bursting out. They poured forward in a fan shape.

Beside Cosmo’s high-speed running and firing mecha, there were countless similar mechas.

Similar irregular running to dodge, similar fan-shaped shooting..... the firepower of the triangular assault formation was brought to its fullest extent.

The earth rapidly retreated beneath the feet of these groups of ugly mechas, dust was torn apart by the wild wind stirred up by the running mechas.

Constant Star was about to slip into the undulating horizon in the distance. The dim world was filled with nothing but those ghostly iron shadows and the energy cannon fire web.

The fierce battle continued amidst cannon sounds, explosions, screams, and roars.

On the plain battlefield below 205 Hill, the charging Bandit Army Mecha once again broke into the Suss Mecha’s formation, and the two sides instantly mixed together, with the sound of killing everywhere.

This was Cosmo’s third forced assault on the second battalion of Suss 402 Armored Regiment’s blocking position.

And it would be the last.

In the previous two assaults, the bandit army SM 3rd group’s first battalion had already penetrated two layers of the enemy’s circular defensive formation.

The circular defense line, ten kilometers wide, now only had its last semi-circular defense line. The concentrated desperately resisting wings of the defense line had already sharply reduced to four kilometers at its widest. Even so, the thickness of the arc-shaped defense line could not be ensured, and it was instantly torn to pieces during the first battalion’s assault.

”Kill!” Cosmo shouted violently, and the thirty mechas at the forefront of the assault formation accelerated simultaneously like arrows flying through the air, piercing into the Suss Mecha group.

Sweeping past a [Boxing King’s] fist, Cosmo twisted the control stick, making the mecha sidestep, already appearing out of thin air on the left-wing of [Boxing King]. Turning his body, he threw a punch... this was Phantom Flow’s one becomes a hundred!

With a ”bang,” [Sword]’s iron fist had already pounded into [Boxing King’s] waist.

With its engine located in the waist, [Boxing King] instantly lost its combat ability.

[Sword]’s fist jammed into the internal transmission system, which then broke apart under high-speed motion inertia. The high-speed rotating gears, transmission rods, half-moon plates, and other parts lost control completely, splashing around like firecrackers and wrecking the inside of the mecha.

The damaged engine’s temperature soared rapidly, with the engine casing and energy system turning red. Like a heart with clogged blood vessels.

When [Sword] withdrew its fist and turned to dash towards another [Boxing King], a violent explosion sounded behind it. Scattering fragments burned like meteors. The energy from the mecha’s wrecked body blazed into the sky, illuminating the surroundings.

One [Boxing King] fell, followed by another.

The Suss Mecha Warriors fought desperately to resist, their hand speed having reached the limit!

But it was all futile!

The Suss people were desperately realizing that once these ugly mechas got close, they had not the slightest chance.

It was an overwhelming disparity in strength.

No matter how hard they tried, [Boxing King] couldn’t keep up with the opponent’s movements.

The techniques they trained according to the Mechanical Control Standards, were useless against these ugly mechas. The same actions, their opponents executed faster, more accurately, and more lethally! Not to mention the combat techniques they hadn’t even thought of.

Phantom Flow Techniques, Tai Sect Techniques, fighting skills taught by Fatty, various martial moves, left the Suss soldiers dumbfounded and terrified. In the eyes of these Suss Mecha Warriors, the opponent’s mechanical control had almost reached the level of an art—a killing art!

Jumping Through, zigzag assaults, arc advancements, Upper Step Punch, retreating sidekick... the mecha formations they were extremely familiar with had turned into miracles in the hands of these ugly mechas.

One by one, the Suss Mechas fell under these maneuvers.

Their downfall proved the saying they heard years ago—Free World is the holy land of mecha fighting! Hidden masters are everywhere!

Many old soldiers at that time just laughed.

No one took such words seriously. The Free World’s civilian mecha fighting techniques were indeed formidable, but what did it matter? At that time, warfare was ruled by long-range firepower, by energy cannons and energy shields! All parameters of military mechas were based on long-range combat capabilities.
