Counterfeit Hero

His orders swiftly traveled through the battle zone communication channel, reaching the ears of all the Mecha warriors.

”Second Battalion, advance on both flanks, we must engulf the enemy!”

”This high ground is ours!” Next to him, the military advisors excitedly waved their fists. The enemy’s assault with inferior forces was simply a low-grade mistake! Abandoning the cover of their positions, no Mecha unit in the Free World could gain the upper hand against the Suss Armored Group.

However, the joy of the Suss people quickly burst like a bubble, disappearing without a trace—as soon as the Bandit Army Mecha charged into the Suss Mecha Group, the newly stabilized Suss formation fell into absolute chaos.

The virtual screen of the long-range viewer transmitted everything happening on Hill 205 to the Suss people.

On the screen, several hundred ferocious figures shot into the formation of the First Battalion. The leading ”Sword,” with an extremely bizarre gait, maneuvered between two ”Boxing Kings.” Its movements were as swift as lightning. In the close-range attacks from it and the three Mechas following behind, the two ”Boxing Kings” instantly turned into burning fireballs. Flames soared into the sky, and in the light of the blazing fire, this ”Sword” had already flashed a hundred meters away, along with another ”Sword,” simultaneously finishing off another Suss Mecha from the left and right.

On the tan, steep slope in front of Hill 205, broken tree trunks lay crisscrossed, and beneath the upturned soil, huge rocks were blown into a pitted mess. Countless charred craters of various sizes dotted the ground, twisted weapons and Mecha parts were scattered everywhere, and burning wreckage churned out thick black smoke straight into the sky. Swirling dust and smoke drifted with the wild wind.

Several hundred hideous Mechas, on this steep slope, in the midst of the Suss Mecha Group, right before Chuck’s eyes, were racing back and forth at an incredible speed! They were like a pack of demon wolves, appearing and disappearing in the flying dust, their erratic movements impossible to predict. Their fighting skills were unique and deadly. In their presence, the mighty ”Boxing Kings” were as clumsy as sloths, futilely waving their fists with no effective resistance.

One ”Boxing King” after another, in those numerous speeding black shadows, turned into burning fireballs. Violent explosions on the steep slope of the high ground looked like continuous fireworks.

An extreme fear gripped each of the Suss people.

”God!”

These were not some basic Free World Mecha equipped with Energy Cannons; they were Ninth Generation Mechas with an overwhelming performance advantage over the ”Boxing Kings”! And the drivers of these Mechas were all Level 8 or higher Advanced Mecha Warriors!

For a moment, Chuck felt a chill all over his body. He knew he had unknowingly made a colossal mistake!

When the world’s civilian Mecha Knights became true Mechanical Warriors, when they acquired high-performance military Mecha, when they followed orders and understood teamwork, when they no longer fought alone but mastered group combat, they would no longer be the Militia easily defeated in the past!

Decades of intensive training, centuries of close combat skills accumulation by the Free World, had endowed this world with a formidable force—absolutely no country could possess so many Advanced Mecha Warriors! Whether it was the Binart Empire, the Feiyang Republic, or any other country, none could match this. In close combat, the Free World reigned supreme!

A demon had gathered this terrifying force together!

”Stop them!” Chuck roared, his eyes almost popping out: ”401 Regiment, immediately move into attack positions and organize defenses. Have the Second Battalion of 402 Regiment contract their formation and intercept on the spot! Don’t let the enemy charge down! Stop them!”

As an excellent frontline Commander, Chuck’s response was very timely. He keenly saw what other military advisors hadn’t yet noticed. Almost at the moment he issued his orders, group after group of the same hideous Mechas appeared on Hill 205, revealing their terrifying forms.

If the Bandit Army formed a counterattack, the consequences would be unimaginable! Chuck, shedding his underestimation, racked his brains to the utmost. He had to prevent this battle from turning into a catastrophic rout!

”402 Regiment, send all troops into the attack immediately!” Chuck ordered, staring at the electronic map with a grim expression: ”Deploy the Third Battalion too! Regimental reserves, immediately establish a firepower barrier! We must resolutely stop the enemy in front of our lines! Even if there’s only one person left, not a single step back!”

”First Battalion Commander!”

”Yes!”

The Commander of the 401 Regiment, responsible for guarding the command post, twitched his eyelids.

”Order two battalions to attack from the flanks of the battlefield.” Chuck did not turn his head: ”They must hold the enemy’s follow-up troops before they penetrate the Second Battalion’s formation and delay their attack momentum!”

”Yes, Colonel!” The Commander of the 401 Regiment jumped into a Mecha and ran.

A series of energy machine gun shots swept across in front of Cosmo, creating dozens of small holes in an arc on the ground. Dirt flew everywhere.

The ”Sword” kicked the ground with its ugly reverse-jointed legs. The Mecha rolled, staggered a bit, and evaded the distant enemy Mecha’s lock-on. The Mecha stood up, continued advancing. The broad ground rapidly retreated under its feet, and from the high ground behind, the black steel torrent rolled down incessantly.
