Counterfeit Hero

Floods of artillery fire surged down from the high ground, scattering the crowded Suss mecha formation on the slope. Under the nearly frenzied cannon fire of the bandit army mecha, the First Battalion of the Suss 402 Group was rapidly dissipating like a dandelion in a violent storm.

At this moment, the most shocked was, of course, Chuck. He never expected that the enemy had ambushed such powerful firepower on the position.

”Where did these mecha come from?!” Chuck roared, grabbing the military staff responsible for coordinating the electronic mecha by the collar.

”They... they...” The poor military staff was drenched in sweat, his face pale.

Under the electronic coverage of two platoons of electronic mecha, any movement and situation on the enemy’s position should have been as clear as the lines on one’s palm. However, until the enemy’s mecha suddenly appeared and dealt a devastating blow to the First Battalion, the detection system of the electronic mecha had not issued any warning.

The military staff with the grabbed collar stammered, filled with questions himself, unable to answer Chuck’s question.

”Suppressing fire!” Chuck, having not received an answer, threw the staff violently to the ground, turned to the dazed staff in front of the central control panel of the Command Mecha, and roared with gritted teeth: ”Second Battalion for cover! Order the First Battalion to cooperate with the Second Battalion, form a circular defensive formation, and retreat first!”

”Yes!” The staff awoke as if from a dream, and the place instantly became chaotic with shouts, yells, and footsteps.

Chuck’s orders were quickly transmitted to the front lines through the command system.

In another bout of chaos, the Second Battalion, which had already leaped out of the position, forcibly transformed the triangle attack formation into an irregular circular defensive formation amidst the orders of junior officers and chaotic footsteps. Hundreds of mecha scattered across the plain in front of High Ground 205, like ants on a hot pan.

Having just initially changed formation, hundreds of Suss mecha, urged by the officers, advanced rapidly towards the high ground. Now, what they needed to do was to incorporate the mecha of the First Battalion that had been left behind into the formation and then slowly retreat to the attack position to survive this slaughter.

The attack position was also a scene of chaos. The bombardment mecha, which had not completed its energy resupply, sporadically set up the four-legged support frame once again. The Suss mecha warriors frantically pressed the buttons on the control sticks according to the previous firing coordinates on the computer, sending energy bullets onto High Ground 205.

They could no longer care about the mecha moving towards the attack position. In such a terrifying firepower net of the enemy, those mecha charging at the forefront had no other fate but death. If they did not use long-range fire to suppress the enemy, the remaining forces of the First Battalion would also face annihilation. Only by indiscriminately suppressing the enemy with firepower could they buy time for the remaining mecha of the Second and First Battalions to retreat.

In an instant, the entire battlefield was in complete turmoil. The tactical changes of the Suss people quickly yielded results. The dense artillery roared to the heavens and trembled the earth, and countless flashes of explosions flickered endlessly on the high ground, which was only a few square kilometers in area. With support from the rear and coordination from the command system, the Suss mecha still crowded at the front of the position finally stabilized. They formed small defensive formations, firing while steadily retreating.

However, how could the bandit army, having gained the upper hand, let such a ripe opportunity slip away? Beating a dog while it’s down has always been the tradition of the bandit army. Even in the newly formed 3rd Group, it was the same. Just as the Suss covering fire rose from the assault position, a bugle call suddenly sounded from behind High Ground 205.

The charge bugle!

”Long live the bandit army!” Hundreds of thunderous shouts merged into one voice.

The hideous and ugly mecha suddenly leaped out of the trenches, their ferocious figures leaping and darting among the trenches. The auxiliary thrusters on their backs emitted red light, and for a moment, hundreds of mecha, like shooting stars, pounced towards the Suss mecha group, covering the sky.

The Suss mecha group on the slope of the position hadn’t had time to react before the bandit army mecha, like arrows breaking through the air, plunged into their midst.

”Close combat attack!”

The counterattack launched by the bandit army left the Suss people dumbfounded.

They never dreamed that these bizarre mecha would dare to charge towards the Suss armored group.

That’s the ”Boxing King”! The eighth-generation mecha of the Suss, designed for close combat from the start! From its name alone, one could see the ferocious melee abilities of this type of mecha!

Not to mention the mecha of the Free World, even on the Resk Battlefield, there were few regular armored units of Chuckna daring enough to charge at the ”Boxing King” mecha group. The reputation of the ”Boxing King” is well-earned; their ferocious power was enough to pulverize any enemy trapped within their formation!

However, the foolish commander of the bandit army chose to abandon the cover of their mecha trenches, gave up the advantage of the firepower net they had organized by surprise, and, in a moment of heated minds, chose to charge at the ”Boxing King” mecha group. These ugly mecha were courting death!

The commander of the 402 Group, who had been closely watching the battle situation on the high ground, was overjoyed. He grabbed the microphone, his bearded chin trembling, and ordered: ”First Battalion, offer slight resistance, feign retreat, and let the enemy come down...”
