Counterfeit Hero

Fatty stood cheerfully on the moving work platform, inspecting rows of mechas being outfitted with Energy Cannons and energy shields. With satisfaction, he said to Markovich, ”Look at these mechas, how handsome, how dashing, how charismatic... What do you think, naming them ’Charming Princes,’ isn’t that fitting?”

Markovich’s cold and resolute face suddenly took on a peculiar expression. He stared at Fatty earnestly for a long time, his lips quivering, but in the end, he couldn’t say a word and lowered his head guiltily.

The Redbeard Pirate Base has been renamed as Bandit Army Base No.1. The newly conquered Demon’s Eye Base has been designated as Bandit Army Base No.2.

At this moment, the dock at Base No.1 was bustling with the busy work of modifying ships.

Fang Xiang lazily sat in the operations room, casually flipping through the Bandit Army’s interstellar navigation charts. Beside her, the navigator from the Longbow Fleet was deep in discussion with the Bandit Army’s navigator about routes. Dozens of virtual interstellar maps adorned the room, looking like small universes filled with spider webs.

Fang Xiang had been studying the complex route maps for several days. Now, every jump point, obstacle zone, gravitational reef, meteorite belt, planet, constant star, comet, nebula, black hole, and the positions, lengths, start, and end points of the Jump Channels were all etched in her mind.

Her thoughts had drifted away from the navigation charts. Amidst the argumentative voices of the navigators and strategists around her, she quietly lost herself in thought.

She was pondering the team she had integrated into.

The base was clean, very organized. When she first arrived, Fang Xiang couldn’t believe that this place had been a pirate base just a few months ago.

What a pirate base was really like could be seen at the Demon’s Eye Base. The walls full of graffiti, thick dust, living quarters that looked like a beggar’s den, and the pungent stench... that was the true appearance of a pirate base!

But in Base No.1, Fang Xiang only saw soldiers training diligently every day, a clean environment, and proper order. She saw a fully equipped dock, an experienced and efficient ship modification team, and piles of plundered materials... And that kind of energy that could affect everyone, making them feel happy!

If it weren’t for the structural layout of the base still bearing traces of pirates, Fang Xiang might have thought this was a secret base of the Leray Military.

Currently, three cruisers were undergoing modification in the dock. Neither Fang Xiang herself nor the technical department of the Longbow Fleet could intervene. Except for some mechanics from the Repair Department who could lend a hand, all the modification work was fully undertaken by the Bandit Army’s logistics department.

The Salerians could only watch as their battleships were dismantled into numerous parts and then see these parts being reassembled by the Bandit Army tech personnel into preliminary modular warships.

Apart from the three cruisers, the blueprint reconstruction work for the battleships had been completed. The Bandit Army’s logistics manufacturing department was simultaneously designing and constructing. Among those working tirelessly in the dock, many were still fresh-faced cadets from the Leray Military Academy, yet their achievements left the oldest mechanics of the Longbow Fleet astonished.

This was a secluded corner of the desolate universe, but here, a group of energetic people, arriving on a damaged destroyer, created this world.

Is the core of these people really that sly and cunning Fatty?

Fang Xiang was very skeptical, extremely skeptical.

Information from Mars Free Port had now returned to the base. Two Suss Armored Groups equipped with Eighth Generation Mechas, in collaboration with the Northern Commerce Alliance, which had an overwhelming advantage, launched an attack on Puluo Town. Whether on the ground or in the sky, the bandit army led by Fatty could only be described as weak!

Fang Xiang initially thought that the Fatty named Tian Xingjian would order the Bandit Army Fleet to reinforce, even if it meant exposing the fleet’s location. This was an unavoidable measure to survive against the enemy’s superior forces. But who knew, the orders from Fatty not only didn’t call for the deployment of the Saleria battleships, but also commanded the modified warships of the Bandit Army’s First and Second Fleets to stay put and guard the base strictly.

Fang Xiang knew that Fatty’s decision was correct. In the Freedom Channel, the fleet was everything. And at this moment, during the critical period of the Bandit Army fleet’s modification, exposing the pursued Saleria battleships was absolutely out of the question. Surviving this period would allow the Bandit Army’s modular warships to travel freely in the Freedom Channel! However, she couldn’t understand what method Fatty would use to get through this difficult time.

Relying on those civilian mech knights and private mechas?

Suddenly, Fang Xiang felt some unease. She couldn’t reconcile the man who issued these orders with the sleazy Fatty who had bargained with her. As a commander, she understood the heavy burden Fatty carried at this time, and the immense courage it required to issue such orders.

What kind of person was this collaborator of hers? Could he win this battle?
